  1. Its now banned in Norway. There was grants to remove all their burried oil tanks at one time.
  2. Neither of my daughters will be proud housewives. But if they where Id have no issue with it. We've encouraged them to push for the careers they wish to peruse. You really do have a warped perception.
  3. I guess cheating on your husband is considered a good time these days?
  4. In the industry I work pay is based on supply and demand, how difficult you are to replace and train but most importantly unionisation. The wages for the Drilling crews would be significantly lower if it where not for union laws as Drilling is very much affected by the market. There is a short lull in Drilling activity coming up for the next 8 months and Drilling operators will be dumping workers. These workers will receive full pay for a full 12 months from NAV. If it was not for wages based on a union matrix the guys out of work might be desperate enough to accept a far lower wage when the market picks up again. Another thing the Norgies has right is Social Dumping is illegal's. They can hire people from any nationality they feel like, most likely from the EU but they are not allowed to pay them less than a Norwegian and that is a wage based on the Matrix. So although there is a number of Europeans working in Norway they are paid the same as a Norwegian making the hiring in of foreign labour generally unattractive and generally only done so to fill a technical shortfall. Personally Im out of the Matrix and on 'individual' pay meaning that the Unions no longer fight for my wage rises but Im still unionised. I fight for my own pay increase and that comes back to how hard I would be to replace if I left. The Arb industry will never be unionised and will always have a supply of 'man and saw' far outweighing the demand. With such a supply of 'man and saw' working for himself and happy to make a small profit on each job the wages and true worth of the work carried out in Arb will never be realised. Someone mentioned earlier in the thread about having genuine vocational qualifications and that is something that could work. Would certainly balance out the crux of the issue which is supply and demand.
  5. Surely in any industry costing is based on supply and demand? In Arb there seems to be far more supply than demand and jobs are priced, or more accurately won on this basis. Same goes for an individuals wage, thats based on how hard you are to replace. If you're in an industry where thats fairly easy then you'll be paid accordingly. The only way to mitigate this would be to price fix, but thats never going to work in such an envoronment.
  6. Thats called stealing. The cost of the land versus the timber you'd get out is quite prohibitive. Why not just buy in 10 or 20 tons of timber to cut and split yourself?
  7. Very true! Id even be up for a tax increase if she kept her top on.
  8. Thank goodness they dont do that here.
  9. I cant see her submitting to one unless she was damn sure she could control the outcome or is clean.
  10. I quite agree. This issue should not be seen as a political thing yet voicing such views always seems to be considered right-wing. How dare you expect people to be responsible for their own actions.
  11. Oh oh, Eggs and the other bleeding heart lefties will be out to linch you for this one.
  12. We're faced with the greed of the Tories or the utter incompetence of Labour. What a bloody choice.
  13. It’s staggering how one man can be so consistently wrong. Even a broken clock is right twice a day and he can’t even hit those odds. He makes the wannabe Carpenter look insightful….
  14. I was not referring to you. To be fair you’ve never commented on middle earners and I’ve never thought of you as someone who has an axe to grind against those who are.
  15. The Scallops and Fillet Steak where hot. So all was not lost.
  16. Saturday night off-shore and you can really feel the cost of living crisis kicking in. Not hot Lobster option tonight, just cold. It’s really hitting home.
  17. I’ve never spoken with them. Different social circles don’t you know. One does not engage with the hired help.
  18. True, but if sooner the corporations pay them more than the working man who has achieved something in his life and is being penalised for it. Would that put the price of good up? Of course. But then we can pick and choose which goods to buy, we can’t pick and choose blanket taxation. It’s a moot point though as it’s never ever going to happen. The poor get poorer, the rich get richer and the middle class pay for it all and are told by the Green Eyed Monsters to stop complaining.
  19. Not sure about that. I know quite a few with an ok income who employ cleaners.
  20. In this scenario would they not get working tax credits? Anyway, we agree that its should be the corporations that should pay these people a proper wage so they they are not topped up by those who have gone out of their way to make a living for themselves.
  21. Minimum wage and full time will see that person pay £1500 a year in Income Tax. The vast majority if not all will have that topped up with a raft of benefits that will outweigh any token tax paid.
  22. Thats because those on minimum wage pay no income tax and get a raft of benefits. Its still these people I hear day in day out whinging about their bills. People earning considerably more are funding those on minimum wage and get shafted left right and center and actually have a genuine reason to complain. Well the feelings mutual, you seem to fall into the latter as well. Your barely concealed jealousy of your in-laws is quite unbecoming.
  23. Well that’s bs for a start. 🤣 All they do is complain they don’t have enough money and wait on their next bailout. The Green Eyed Monster is alive and well it seems.
