  1. I was being facetious. Im paid regardless if I sleep all shift or work. Im out here till the job is done and there is multiple companies working on the same Well then we have to wait till the other company has does whatever current operation they have, can be hours, or days. I'll not have much to do for the next three nights now other than catching up with paperwork, and sleeping on the Sofa.
  2. Im paid for what I know, not what I do.
  3. Don’t worry, I’m getting paid. ?
  4. Fair enough. I respect your point of view. Seems a crazy way to make money but if the guys enjoy it then fair enough.
  5. But my memory is not one of them. Guess I’ll have to dig the quote out when I have a quiet minute later tonight.
  6. Well I seem to remember you specifically stated you have retained four out of the five guys you trained up. I could dig the quote out for you if you like? You made a big song and dance about not dragging the lads up behind you on the ladder but with you. All 5 of you for under £85k? I’m struggling to figure in how much tax and national insurance you could actually be paying personally? People in glass houses and all that.....
  7. If I remember correctly you said you trained up 5 lads and still have 4 working for you? So including yourself and the 4 lads all working for you and still under the £85k tax threshold? Something does not sound right.
  8. Of course its the same thing-. Both seem to be incredibly poorly paid jobs that neither require the employee to take up that job but they do so on their own vocation. Both are exploiting the employee. Thats how the forestry sector is, thats fine thats also how the retail sector works. Anyway, I'll bow out now. Im clearly never going to convince someone who is happy to pay their employees little more than peanuts....
  9. Fair enough some people can make it pay, but what the op is describing sounds like hell. Providing all the gear, knocking your pan in and for that kind of money? Lots of things have worked well for hundreds of years, Slavery for one, but it does not make it right. I guess as log there is people out there happy to break their bodies for that kind a pay they will be people out there to take advantage of that. Same as working in Amazon and Starbucks I guess? Are the lads on £80-90k also having to pay for the cost and upkeep of the Harvesters? I doubt they are just sitting in the seat and making that kinda money with no overheads.
  10. It’s absolutely scandalous that in this day and age people are still paid piece rate. I don’t see how it’s legal to be honest. Yet some will justify it and happily pay their workers peanuts yet complain when Amazon does the same thing. ? Imagine if Amazon paid piece rates? The U.K. would rightly be up in arms.
  11. Im really not sure why you think we're in a minority in Scotland? For one Johnsond and I have differing views on Scottish Independence. Anyway, below is a map of how the Scottish counties voted regarding the last Indi Referendum. The Counties in Green voted to leave, the ones in red remain. So Johnsond is clearly not in the minority in his opinion of wanting Scotland to remain in the Union is he? And below that you'll see the results of the 2015 and the 2017 General Election results in Scotland. in 2015 the SNP held a huge majority, but by 2017 that was decimated and the Tories taking up a huge number of seats. Labour and the Lib Dems mopping up the remainder. Where this Trend to continue the SNP are all but finished in the 2019 elections. So lets leave this one till the 13th and we'll see who is in the minority then. But going by the maps below you really have been hitting the bottle hard tonight if you think we're vastly in the minority with our view points.
  12. It always comes out after a few drinks. Being half English myself I'm somewhat on the fence. My Mothers side is all from Plymouth, my Grandfather moved up to Dunfirmline as he was a Shipwright. They moved back down but my Mother stayed up as she had me. I think the SNP go to the same economics school as Diane Abbott but I genuinely believe Scotland could go it alone and be quite prosperous in doing so. I think its about 62 countries in the world that have taken Independence from the UK, I dont think any of them with to return to English rule. I think it would be the same for Scotland, for better or worse. Jo Swinson sometimes gives me the Horn, and Ive only been away for 5 days. If there was only a way to get her to stop talking.
  13. Yeh, I think so. Although I think it might actually be the Buckie you mentioned earlier. I dont think SNP supporters drink anything else.
  14. You’re clearly drinking tonight, huh? I have few options? Well that’s true. Vote Tory or vote SNP. That’s an easy one. I’m narrow minded? Well ok, that’s fine, I can live with that. I have half my life left (I hope) I’m sorry if I plan on voting along the lines of how my only life on this earth pans out and the life of my children after me. Neither involve being shackles to the EU nor supporting the politics of Envy the SNP encourage. If politics is not about me, then it’s not about you either. Yet here you are mouthing off to others who have an equally valid point of view about Scotland and you’re telling them to go suck cocks. I think you need to wind your neck in, put the bottle down and go enjoy those sweet dreams you mention.
  15. What I mean is it’s not like you to resort to such language. I’ve mentioned repeatedly I’m Pro-independence. 100% for a genuine independence, not swapping one tyrannical master for another as the SNP would have us do. I’d sooner stay in the Union with England than be forced back into a Union with the EU. I could even stomach voting to leave the union with the SNP in power where they to remove re-joining the EU. Even if that meant paying more tax in Scotland, as much as I loath the SNP and what and who they stand for I could bite down on the leather whilst they ride me dry for the chance of a real independent Scotland. But the SNP, like Labour are poison. They are the politics of greed and envy. It’s a race to the bottom with Socialism and always will be.
  16. My my my Mull! You do seem to have your panties in a bunch tonight! [emoji23] Personally I’ll never vote for independence as long as the SNP’s are in power and as long as they try and drag us back into the EU. I fully expect the SNP will lose even more seats to the Tories on the 12th. That really would shut them up. No mandate then.
  17. Ah ok. I mind you saying now. Yeh, you can drink water by the liter and never need to piss.
  18. Ive worked in Doha, the Tunisian and Algerian Sahara. Both very toasty as well. Light weight coveralls where banned too. So full length regular weight ones where a pain. But it was a dry heat so did not mind it much, Sinapore and working in Australia off of Broom was very humid, as was the Congo and The Ivory Coast. I miss escaping the winters here for these warmer places. What do you do on the Drill Floor?
  19. I lived in Braemar from the ages of 2-4 then 4-7 in Crathie close to Balmoral Castle. Me and my mate where the only ones in our year but the class room was made up of primary 1-3. 4-7 was in the other class room and was a very scarey place. Once a year a Footman would pop over to the School from the Castle with a nicely embossed envelope with our name on it and a brand new pound coin from the Queen was inside. That was ripped right open and spent at the tuck shop. Happy memories of that neck of the woods.
  20. It gives me a warm fuzzy glow inside and keeps me going through the night. The Missus wants an Esse Iron Heart for the kitchen and I want a ATV and either a Log Arch or Log Trailer. So the Over Time will help pay for one or the other. We'll see who gets their way. Damn, still not away? I'll be home before you leave at this rate. 40-60 knot winds these last few days, its been like getting Sand Blasted with hail.
  21. It does not help that duty on Whisky is not included. That alone would be quite sizable. Not to mention Oil revenues. I dont agree with this at all. Scotland can be quite prosperous on its own.
  22. Why thank you. Wish I could, Im on night-shift in the North Sea. Its bloody freezing!
  23. Fair enough. Im from the North East of Scotland and hate football with a passion. So my experience of sectarianism is quite limited. Still, Im sure the topic could be discussed without it collapsing into open warfare on here.
