  1. You're free to interpret my comments anyway you see fit. Ive given you my reply and if you still wish you put your own bias on it then feel free.
  2. No, Im with you on that. I really do not wish to take a rushed through vaccine for something that for the 99.99% of the time will have no affect on me. My Father-in-law has just taken it, his opinion is he'll be dead before any ill effects come to light anyway. I can see that reasoning. When you have to sign a waiver to take it its quite worrying but in my main job I'll have little choice. I'm spending way to much time in quarantine as it is and now the bloody SNP in their bid to out-do Boris has insisted that travelers from every country has to do a 10 day mandatory quarantine in a hotel at a cost of £1750. Id be far happier taking the the traditional Oxford type vaccine as its a tried and tested method, but admittedly with unknown long term side efects. The Pfizer one is a huge unknown and I really hope its not the once forced on me.

  4. Laugh all you like Sky but the facts speak for themselves, even your beloved left wing hate rag says as much. Top 1% of earners in UK account for more than a third of income tax | Institute for Fiscal Studies | The Guardian WWW.THEGUARDIAN.COM Tax revenues ever more reliant on small group of high earners, says Institute for Fiscal Studies
  5. The rich are already taxed to the hilt! The account for the vast majority of the tax raised in the UK .
  6. I think there is many facets as to why we're being forced into such a draconian lock-down. Arse covering for a very poor initial reaction, blame for this can also be laid firmly at the WHO's feet though. Arse covering for continual cock-ups and wildly wrong predictions. When you hear it from the horses mouth when they have their guard down then yes, Id be inclined to believe them when they're caught with their pants down and rubbing their hands in glee. And you just have to follow the money with the Tories. The Track and Trace App and numerous other contracts being awarded to their mates. We're talking billions here. To say that this pandemic has not been used to line their own pockets is at best naïve and at worse self induced ignorance.
  7. Not the quickest with the 4 way on through beech but quicker and easier than by hand.
  8. Im looking at doing some splitting jobs myself but have no idea how to price it. Im getting paid from my work anyway but with so much going on at home it would not be worth me doing the job unless it paid well enough, but that sounds unlikely.
  9. How much does a Splitting job pay you?
  10. Damn, the UK government proving to have gotten more and more right as time passes. Will be ignored by the haters but even they must begrudgingly admit that after a rocky start they're doing rather well now. We've also delivered 10% of the worlds doses to the UK population. Another massive and ignored milestone that the Government should be very proud of.
  11. Couple of pics with the safety gubbins removed.
  12. Ive got that very model! Rock call theirs the ES 22t Venom and no longer sell it as they no longer need a EU compliant Splitter since we're free of the EU diktats. They sold the last of theirs off cheap and I got one for £1500 delivered. I'll see if I can dig out some pics and a wee vid. I removed all the EU nonsense so its now a single handed operation and removed the kill switch that stops you operating it in the horizontal. I really like it and have split quite a few tons with it now. The 22t force in my opinion is not over rated and if it does not split a log it will just smoosh it apart, ie a union or a real knotty piece. I see the add has them at 24t but I assume Rock downrated that to 22t? The 4 way head is good if you get a chance to buy one go for it. Rock stopped selling them as folk tried to force big lumps though it and ended up breaking the 4 way head and complained. Its fine for upto say 14" logs. I got mine free but they are about £50 and well worth it.
  13. All healthy Tree's. Maybe its the magical Angus lands that are so fertile that give us amazing quality Oak and also the Cattle. Ive always just taken it for granted as so much of what I mill here is like this. @Johnsond should be happy.
  14. Now that is some stunning workmanship! From what Ive read there is two different types of fungus that causes the oak to darken. I have loads of slabs of 'brown' oak drying at home, but Ive none of the much darker and obviously rotten type. Id say 50% of the Oak I buy my way is classed as 'brown' oak, but the Fistulina hepatica infected one and not the fistulina hepatica which I think we're seeing in Sauls Logs. Brown Oak | The Wood Database - Lumber Identification (Hardwood) WWW.WOOD-DATABASE.COM
  15. 'Brown' Oak is on thing, but obviously well advance rot is another. I jus dont understand it. Folk dont seem to rate Beech much but I have some slabs with stunning colours and patterns in them. Ash is another that cant seem to be given away for more than firewood prices. The Tree Surgeon thats trying to flog me those saw logs knows this as well. He loves it and to be fair its nice timber. I get customers who are specifically after Oak and Elm mainly. I sell some Spalted Beech now and again but thats mainly to a guy who makes Pens outta them. I did myself outta a few quid when a lad came down for Oak and ended up taking larch instead. He did offer me the same money for the Larch as he was gonna pay for the Oak but I turned him down. Would be the interesting to see some finished pics of what these guys are doing with Oak with advanced decay.
  16. As I say, you must be able to flog sand to the Arabs and fair play to ya. Id have had that ringed up and in vented bags by now.
  17. With that much rot? Get through that by break time.
  18. About 5700lbs or 2580kg. Punched in the wrong species.
  19. You’re looking for a live or Waney edge I think?
  20. Hardwood? Softwood? Processor friendly? Location?
  21. I really like the Granberg, super simple to use if you have an ounce of mechanical knowledge. You just need to read and follow the instructions. Not easy for all it seems. With the diamond grinders its perfect. But I can fully see the advantage of not having to lug a 12v source around with you all the time.
  22. Ive got a bunch of Oak ready for milling plus a couple of monster Beech that was standing dead for a few years. Still very solid and nicely Spalted. Must be 4 feet diameter. Got a nice 28" lump of Norway Maple to mill when I'm home next as well, interested to see what thats like when I open it up. But have over 40t of Larch Saw Logs coming in a month or so as well. But like you its a case of no time right now.
  23. Surely the point of a great pension is that you've done the work and no longer have to? With such an illustrious career behind him and an amazing pension it just seems odd to be scratching a living cleaning windows in the dead of winter.
  24. I thought you had a millionaire father and a cushie pension from the Fire Service? You really are full of it.
