In Norway everyone seems obsessed with renovating their houses/apartments and getting a new 'tax' on it, ie, getting it revalued to see how much more its now worth. Its certainly not a UK centric phenomena. Getting your house re-valued and seeing what additional equity you have in your property allows the home owner to get loans for Cabins and Boats etc. Or even adding them to the existing Mortgage.

It might be worth taking the time to have a closer look at a Woodlands, Woodmizer or Logosol Bandsaw as there is a lot of engineering gone into the designs that will allow you to fine tune the Mill. Being off by as little as a 1mm will throw your cut right off and even more so at the widest setting. I've found myself spending a good 24 hours fine tuning my Logosol so that its cutting true, and that with getting the Saw Head delivered pre-assembled with all the built in adjustments available. On my Logosol there is adjustments to the Band Wheels on each side, there is adjustments to the band guide bearings on each side, there is adjustments on the guide arm that comes in and out depending on the size of log you're milling and there is adjustments to the raise and lower chains on each side of my Mill and a few others pre-set for the Saw Head itself from the factory, so at least 4 sets of adjusters on each side to ensure you cut true. When any one of these adjustments is off you'll cut badly. A 1-2mm Band is far less forgiving that a Chainsaw Bar for cutting true.

I always have better ripening removing the leaves covering the tomatoes. Do you remove the majority of the leaves or did get drop themselves? I was of the understanding that the leaves need to stay (by not shade) to allow the tomatoes to reach their full potential.

There is a lot of regulations in regard to what Trees can and cannot be cut down in the UK. TPO's Felling licences etc. You simply cannot go around felling trees, especially endangered trees in complete disregard for the environment and the species. There might well be millions and million of trees in Africa but the destruction of entire ecosystems over there to feed our whims is rampant. Now Im not saying Id not buy one of these slabs if I had a use for one but Im equally sure that if I did Id not be be getting a certificate to show its not been felled in compliance for any regard for the environment. Im sure you're not as naïve as this either. People should not be mocked by the likes of yourself for caring about the worlds ecosystem nor the huge carbon footprint of shipping Timber all over the World. I do miss Norway but I love Scotland. I’ll most likely retreat into the Highlands more and more as I get older for much the same reasons you mention. I genuinely think that no matter the evidence presented to you you’ll point blank refuse to accept or acknowledge the systematic failure of U.K. being a member of the EU and will downplay the U.K. prospering post-Brexit to anything other than leaving the EU. The U.K. dong badly just now? That’s Brexits fault, nothing to do with Covid. The EU recovering very well in years to come? That was because of Covid, nothing to do with Brexit. The problems you complain about living where you do I find myself smiling at since I have a rather fit sister-in-law who lives a stones throw away from you and posts multiple times a day of her Swimming and running and living an outdoor lifestyle. She’s seriously into her outdoor swimming. But the rest of what you complain about (as you know) simply don’t exist here in Scotland. Norway might not be the ideal place to live in Scandinavia, but the rest of Scandinavia sure likes to come here to live and work.

People want to buy second homes in the U.K., people want to buy second homes in Norway. But far more people in Norway but second homes and I can sssure you it’s not just cabins by lakes, not even remotely close. Far more affordable? You have to be kidding me! House prices here are extortionate. It’s inconceivable for one parent to work here and make ends meet. Even for the second parent to work part time is a stretch. Kids never see their parents it’s a crying shame. Dropped off at pre-school, school then either walk home themselves and make their own dinner or it’s after school club then wait to be picked up. All from the age of 1. The state raise the children here, not the parents. They might well be building more, but then Norway is virtually empty. The U.K. is not. Again, ending unfettered migration from 3rd world countries in the EU unquestionably had to end to slow down the over population boom we’re experiencing.

There is that as well. But both are seen here in Norway as well. Marriage, if there is any does not seem to last any longer here than it does in the U.K. very few partners seem to stay together for long. Property investment is no different either. Second homes! But is not the cause of this, as you already admit, over crowding? Over crowding caused in the main part by a massive influx of cheap Labour from the EU. Couple this with the significant drop in wages again due to the mass influx of cheap Labour from the EU. Everything you describe above can be placed firmly at the feet of the EU.
