  1. then its much cheaper and easier!
  2. The heat temp isnt a lot different you just get more of it than with air so the COP is better £1 of electric to spin the pump gets you £4/5 of free heat. Taking the floor up does put a lot of people off but if you do it before you move in (stay in the local prem inn for a week) you will reap the rewards for years. As ive said before fastest is micro digger with a pecker. 2 days should do it easy, then a day to insulate and get loops laid and a day to screed.
  3. pretty much no to all of that. As long as you sit the underfloor on insulation and make sure the loft has plenty then you are laughing. Obviously modern windows are going to help but its on 24x7 so once the slab is warmed up it stays warm with not much effort. Do the math with the grant and it is cost neutral after 7+ years after which it pays you.
  4. it may be an easy job to overlay existing. all depends on your ceiling height as al the door heads will need raising etc. to be honest its not a massive job just need the house empty for a week to get a micro digger and pecker to take the lot up.
  5. forget rads with a heat pump. If you are staying there 10+ years then its the way to go as it wont cost you anything to install. It is also the cheapest system, by far, to run. Heat pumps are around 3:1 efficient which means for ebery £1 of electric you get £3 of heat. The rub is the install is a one off big upheaval.
  6. before going with the cheap option, bear in mind you will get help from gov with paying off a heat pump. you are effectively loaning the gov the money to fit it and they pay it off over 7 or 8 years. All depends if you will be staying long term.
  7. yep hence needing the loop to sit on insulation with good cold bridging sorted to heat up the screed.
  8. all depends on your budget. Cheapest just replace the night stores. Heat pump (air if you have no land ground if you do) really needs underfloor heating to work as it needs a big surface area to compensate for lower heat. If you have high ceilings to accommodate 175mm increase in height (100mm insulation 75mm screed) if you dont you have to look at space saving underfloor trays (crap) or bust out the slab. Upstairs is easier you can run the trays in-between the joists. If its your last house then you can justify the investment as you will be saving on heat bills for years, if you will be selling up then look at the cost against what it will do to the house price (not much). average 100m2 Underfloor loop + manifold installed £5k Heat pump and cylinder installed 10k Screed £5k
  9. subby all day long. way cheaper. no hol pay, sick pay, grief.
  10. 66plate tipper from new. dont maybe 10k miles not a lot (site and back) have the airbag light come on now and again other than that the 3L engine witht he himatic auto box is very smooth. Thinking of upgrading to a 7.2ton and losing the hiab.
  11. apparently a shipfull of highly explosive chemicals they confiscated last year and stored next to a fireworks factory.
  12. got to love the paddies

  14. long legged fox terrier. They are a wonderfull breed crafty, smart, loyal, mischavous and brave. There are not enough breeding pairs in the UK to maintain healthy bloodlines apparently. She is my best mate.
  15. Dr Mengele was a scientist who worked for the state.
  16. dont worry if this continues it WILL end up in violence and the cheerleaders of this woke system being forced down the publics throat by those in charge, the law, the media etc will rue the day they inflected their very own form of socialism/fascism. Exactly the same happens every time in socialist/totalitarian systems, the 'leaders' end up swinging from ropes by the oppressed when they have had enough. 17. the issue i have with the whole lot of this corona hysteria, civil servant suits in London with no experience of the real world doing manual labour have panicked by listening to teacher/ ' the professionals' and gone batshit crazy. Look at that nightingale hospital they were convinced was needed. Wasn't total bullshit. They can feck right off im not going to wear a mask or go and have a pint in a pub until its 100% back to normal. The pubs have till christmas to get the punters back in, karaoke, live sport etc or they are fecked as well. No way they will have the cash to pay the next quarters rent and vat/paye while serving 30% of the punters and its not like they were rolling in it before either. Until clean corona deaths numbers are produced, not a bloke who had a car crash but was put down as corona as he had it 2 months ago, they are all fake and I'll take no notice what so fecking ever. a pox on spineless politicians.
  18. the moral of this thread. Get the fecking machine to do the work.
  19. pre-pack administration. Some miner paperwork, poof the loan is gone.
  20. Not quite correct. Standard AML checks are done by the bank for identity purposes. Eligibility is all self cert for the bounceback so nothing for the bank to do there but process it.
  21. someone should make one that is geared up to work on not massive flow oil then could be used on a digger, mini and up.
  22. wait till you see the whites of their eyes lads. They would have won if they kept their eyes closed.
  23. kilt
  24. id doubt that. you do realise the scale on land registry maps. There is a reason the legals earn a fortune from boundary disputes.
  25. more importantly, whats a frock wearing north of the border subject doing with a Porsche ?
