  1. You should pay more attention . Neither truck or chipper is working on double yellow lines
  2. A lot of said companies have no qualified or under qualified tree surgeons, which i consider the most basic requirement. Can the insurer tell me if they will insure a tree cutter with no qualifications, or with a few but not the ones for the task they was doing?. If so, should they make a claim, will you uphold it?. If the insurers refuse to uphold an unqualified or under qualified tree cutters claim and help educate our customers, change will be fast!.
  3. I think there are a huge volume of what we call companies, but not so many professional outfits with good reputations. That being said, i do have some excellent competitors who i respect and they provide the sort of service we do.
  4. The 37 hp engine is a serious player. Forst state it uses no more fuel than the diesel. I will be testing that asap. The speed of the machine sub 4 inches is ridiculous. I think both TW and Forst have a great engine. If it chips faster than a diesel, with a faster reacting no stress, sub 4 inch (80%) of most daily chipping. Then the fuel issue might be insignificant.
  5. Well, bet is made :). Best sub 750 chipper imo. The build quality is exceptional. Lets see if reliability is too.
  6. I am not aware it was tbh, Redwood have offered me a better deal. The only reason i am not getting a GM is because their equivalent imo is not equal for various reasons. When they bring the QC200 out who knows. Jase recently helped me with some of my issues and i am a massive GM fan, their customer service has been dependable many times. As i say, right now i am bothered about the potential emission problems, the ST6P meets my requirements more then the GM petrol. What can i do if not remain honest. I love my GM QC but its 2 year old tech, i like updating so getting another for me is not moving forward. Julian tells me within 24 months the new one which will meet future regs will be out. But it will also be compared against what ever forst, TW etc offer. I say again, the QC is the best TT chipper, i have had 2 good years with it. I go for the machine i think will best suit the next 2-3 years of my operations.
  7. I did have a demo of the forst st6p, yes it did appear faster than my current QC, the entire team and one of our subbies witnessed it and all agreed it was noticeably faster. I have ordered one and it arrives imminently. I will say my QC has been an excellent and reliable chipper. Reasons I changed: Potential emission changes, out of warrenty, QC threw chip all over the road at most angles of spout, appeared slower. But the QC is a turntable and the best one bar none!. It has huge plus points, you can read on my blog on my site. I may regret the change, who knows, I will say GM have been the best regarding warranty and service, a lot for Forst to match, but a 3 year warranty and Kenny who is too easy to talk with gives me confidence. I really wanted to demo the GM equivalent but it was not available for weeks, Forst offered the first 100 at £1000 off which equates to £1200 so time was short. One thing is certain, I enjoy reviewing my toys and will be honest, if it's the belter I think it is, you will know :). like my page or follow us on YouTube to see the future report. I do highly recommend the QC but I wanted a smaller machine for my guys. Saying all this GM may be doing a QC200 so it never ends
  8. I demo'd the Forst st6p petrol a while back, was impressed with the build quality. Anvil removal, ability to adjust roller speed, over sized bearings, wider hopper than the st6, engine is a performer for sure, narrow machine, sub 750 of course, led tail lights, engine cover, looks, not affect by 2019 city emission or toxin taxes and more.
  9. We had a 130 on hire with the 23hp engine, really decent chipper. I would suggest its for an entry level company. We demo'd the forst st6p with the 37hp BS engine and i was really impressed with its power, fuel injected and uses no more fuel than the diesel?. If it was a choice of the 23hp honda or the 37hp fuel injected BS, no question the BS..
  10. No offence taken, I can see what you are saying. 100 meter conifers?.
  11. This is our website, http://www.thtreeservices.co.uk Ill never finish building on it, but its been a fun project. Always welcome to opinions on improving it. Nothing is perfect!. We do have a shop coming for it plus tons of new innovative ideas but my time is limited due to our work load. Thanks..
  12. Having time to use the forum, i am really liking it. Its nice to use on mobile and desktop. VBULLETIN and XEN are like you say hit and miss. Its great to see arbtalk moving forward, it is a great resource i do use often. Well done, i know first hand such a site takes enormous time and effort to maintain.
  13. Due to further demand we are seeking a climber and a labourer. We are based in Rayleigh, Essex. Pay will be depending on experience/qualifications, which can all be discussed in person. please email [email protected] or call 07834349211
  14. Step in the right direction, site is confusing but nothing that cant be figured out. Merging with social media is a must, so this is good. It will take time to iron out the niggles that may annoy users, but with all new sites, this will take more time. The site needed a breath of fresh air and this is the right thing to do, over the coming months try to make it less cluttered and i think if will be fine. Im suprised you never went with zen foro, i know VB is not great any more, what ever software you use, there are comprimises.
  15. TH Tree Services is an Essex based company.

  16. We use two iveco dailys with 1-1.2t payload, a hilux with 1t payload and trailer with 2t payload. Generally find 5t legal payload covers 90% of a days work. The perfect one truck and one trailer set up is the 7.2t daily with a 3.5t trailer Imo. Tho that require HGV and trailer test. By the way post 97 drivers have a GTW of 4.25t, Post 13 drivers have a GTW of 3.5t. Any post 13 driver with 3500 transit and a 750kg chipper is more than likely operating illegally 90% of the time with out BE. You may have 250-500kg of capacity, legally speaking.
  17. We have a quadchip mk2 and its silly easy to maintain. Over 150hrs no faults. We fill a 3.5t truck within 30-45mins, depending on material. No other chipper has a hopper as large in the 750kg market, makes every job so much easier. My dad has a tw230 and i cant help thinking the design is still very old. The hopper is narrow and the metal is thin. It does have 1hp more and the brochure says it can chip 5.5t an hour verus the qc 4.7t per hour. Most labourers struggle to chip 1t per hour so either chipper is more than fast enough for any job. Id buy another qc, the tw230 is cheaper, so more for the financially focused, where the qc is a bit more expensive, but you get so much more of a machine. A much better design imo. Either way both will do the job well!.
  18. I find the stihl offers a better feel in the hand and quieter, tho struggles with torque which cause strain on the wrists. The husqvanra offers more power, tho it is noisey. I have both and do preferr the stihl for 1-4 inches, the husqvanra for 4-6 inches and petrol power for above. You really need the highest capacity batteries, dont waste time on lesser capacity as you wont be happy.
