  1. That’s a genius idea. We should all buy horses and carts going by your methods?.
  2. It is avoidable tho impossible to never use it imo. Tape slings are very handy for avoiding most of those situations. If you do one hand, keep well out of the kick back. Always be very mindful of your work position, the saw and be prepared for a slip. Always allow room for error. Dont race, plan, pace and think!.
  3. I think wages are improving. I noticed that when i was willing and able to afford to pay above average wages, my standard of worker improved greatly. I think 150-200 a day for a free lance climber is a great wage, considering that its competition that strangles a business being able to afford more. Contrary to popular believe its not bosses being greedy. There is no fat left in the arb market.
  4. Artificial intelligence, google is now using it in search. It will be very interesting to see how a machine learning processor or brain if you will decides what is relevant to the user. I suspect as always, marketing will forever be fluid and more real time than ever before and of course costly.
  5. Exactly, tbh i never used rebated fuel anyway so i noticed cheaper fuel lol. I can say the 37hp briggs is really good on fuel, i was expecting it to be a drinking, but its just me i guess :D.
  6. They can sell them but should sites, local authority's and such say we want to see a risk assessment and pollution assessment and you have a dirty diesel you may be refused work. I would say unlikely but you may also have to pay toll/toxin charges in some cities which will filter down to town centres. At some point the S/H value of older machines or non stage v may drop. We have a forst st6p and it is a powerhouse and does not use much fuel much to my own surprise.
  7. No one net of marketing will be sufficient, especially facebook. We have 6500+ followers, yet very few worthwhile jobs have come from it. The future is now, mobile combined with AI assisted search and advertising.
  8. Used or owned. TW125, TW24/150, TW150, TW230, GM quadchip, forst ST6P. I think forst have really nailed a great machine here. very fast no stress, adjustable roller speed, twin 8inch blades, massive flywheel, touch roller buttons, 37hp BS vanguard petrol, apparently faster than the diesel st6. It is faster than a gm quadchip (side by side test). Huge bearings, removable anvil, led lights and a ton more. IMO the best sub 750 to date...
  9. You can be cheap for now, not for ever.
  10. Ladders are designed for aerial access, leaning against a tree makes them no less dangerous than throwing a throw line over a branch you cant see well from the floor?. You can test both but a ladder supports most of your weight, its a known quantity to. Reduces climber fatigue, increases speed of access, enables A frame use for pole work on lower outer or inner crowns, plus more. Once ascended into the tree, you install your climbing line so the next ascent is tied in, combined with a ladder, access is faster and safe.
  11. I trained in the gym around the same time i started tree work 2005. Got to 17st last year, was not good for anything but throwing weights around. Now trimmed down to 12 and a half stone, up from 12 stone in July. Went through a cutting phase which gave abs :O. But maintaining 12.7-13 stone over winter. Being over weight and climbing is bad for the joints, i learned that being as big as you can naturally with a sub 10% body fat is good all round. Go to lean and your mood changes and always being hungry is bad for climbing. Also try and train jiu jitsu and mma but work is busy so that's a chore. I do think strengthening the muscles will aid in the prevention of injuries, assuming you put your ego down before entering the gym. Tho managing energy levels for the gym and doing tree work is an ongoing learning curve with age added into the mix.
  12. True, I think our way is legal tho, adding 5t springs won't be (technically). Himatic auto boxes are the exact one in Bentley and Maserati. Rated at over 10.5t, more than Enough for a full load and trailer in tow :).
  13. These are my springs, far superior to my older Iveco Steve.
  14. Our trucks have blackvue 650s dash cams front and rear. Hard wired in and record 27/7 on a loop. The recording quality is excellent and has secured a claim when a builder reversed into my hilux. Paid out within a week with the proof. The new truck has a truck edition BV650s which has infra red for night. https://www.thtreeservices.co.uk/blackvue-dr650s-2-channel-dash-cams-lukas-290-parking-module-review/ Ah damn, looks like the 750 is out, never ends..
  15. Hard to see, we have a factory upgrade. Second row of springs which only engauge when loaded. Carries a legal load with no problem Steve. We use trailers when we need more capacity as I have my BE.
  16. I should have it for 3-5 years (min), then I'll advertise it. Comes with an enormous extras list. I like to pay up front for my kit, no stress when or if work slows down. Tho interest free is nice when its available.
  17. Tbh with the 8 speed auto it flys with a full load and 3.5t trailer, up the steepest hills in benfleet. Has around 430 of torque. I think the bigger engine ivecos have bigger brakes too, all helps when carting chip about ;).
  18. Morning Kev, yes within LEZ, ULEZ, potential toxin tax zone etc.
  19. I use the black and white theme, its part of our logo. An all black truck wont look nice imo chap. Appreciate the feedback..
  20. This is one of our latest truck set ups, euro 6 engine on the truck, 2019 stage v ready engine in the chipper. Investing in reducing our environmental impact. Our first automatic truck too, very nice in traffic.
  21. Yeah clamp and a few other things, wont stop them but gives you time to react.
  22. Tools are not safe, sad state of affairs but we need tons of security when on-site now, not just a clamp
