  2. i use neat fairy liquid neat and a pot scrubber brush to remove chain oil a crud from the clutch / brake band and front of the saw crankcase etc it emulsifies the oil and crap , i do this when i remove the bar for cleaning the rails etc and side cover cover , rinse under the tap and blow it with airline . around the carb area i use the airline and its only some dust in there really nothing oily , looks brand new every time
  3. i have a fair few of them and have had no bother atall other than a slight initial stretch , sharpen fine and cut as good as oregon ones i have but i dont use them all day , but have gone through 2 chains so far with wear and crap dirty logs , so far so good , i even run a full comp 36 inch one on my modded 395 and was no problem , didnt break ans one stretch and its fine , now its been converted to a granberg style ripping chain for the Alaskan mill and has been fine

  5. some milled dead Elm trees first couple were cut withthe saw before we did the milling , nice burls through all of that chunk at the base of the tree ,still some more of those to do just for info ,pic one ,the backcut isnt too low , the stump is upside down :-)
  6. on page 57 it lists the husky saws as 0.63 , they are 0.58 on 3/8 stuff only the very biggest saws like 3120 are 0.63

Myself and 2 pals got asked from an neighbourly 75 year old guy who has a fair size patch of ground in a gully and has 5 dead elm trees in there, after the elms were taken down with no issues and firewood started some of the wood was lovely and a shame to make it into firewood so we decided to find an Alaskan mill , which we did locally , after reading up about it and watching U tube vids i did some mods to it and am chuffed with it i got a wee winch off ebay for about a tenner ,15m of 6 mm polyester rope from B&Q for 7 quid . 8mm and 6mm ( 110mm long) coach bolts to modify the fitting of the winch to the rail , a petzel oscillante swing pully for 12 quid and a couple of keyring carabinas i had in a drawer . So ..to start with the winch handle was shortened by 2 inches as it was unneccassarily long , i might take another inch off as its easy to operate . coach bolt were slotted into the rails which have a square part that stops them turning for tightening , a small amount was removed from the square to shorten as it protruded through the rail which would been loose , the 6 mm square was too small and would spin so mig welded a washer to it and ground a bit off the sides to slot in , works perfect , winch done :-) cut down another 8mm coach bolt and fitted a wing nut to it and a old lifting eye to attach the rope end to so the winch angle can be adjusted to make the saw run even without pivoting ,not that it did it anyway but a simple thing to move along the rail if needed had a small issue when he rope twice went under the pulley near the end of the 12 foot plank as it piled up on the drum so will make a wee ring for the support rail to keep it cemtral on the winch , over the top of the rail is ok but it piled up there too so will go for the centre setting , , temporaily used a piece of paling wire which worked fine but looked rough Made a ripping chain from a full house 3/8 0.58 full chisel , made every pair cutters to 5deg and next pair top face were were ground on a bench grinder to half the width to be scoring cutters also 5 deg and rakers set to 25 thou , so all round the chain , L&R .L&R scoring and so on previously before the winch install i used a skip chain which i had anyway but it was a bit rough but the home made ripping chain was great
  8. well....it was fun ,after much shopping around and requests denied from sellers over the pond due to shipping i eventually got it from a sawshop in vancouver island BC along with a Tsumura bar for my made so got a deal together ,RW bars are not avaulable in the UK , crap really as oregon bars are all made in canada anyway and shipped to uk but the oregon rep said , nope they will not be available as there is no real need for them here as a large shipment will be required blah blah , anyhow it got hit with import duty etc so not cheap , but i like it
  9. i hung it from a bit o string on the handle and its just down a teeny bit on the nose , my pals 37 tsumura is nearly 2 inches lower , my 28 oregon powermatch sits about the same as the 37 LW
  10. my recent new toy , 395 xp with a new 37 inch Oregon LW bar with a full chisel and a skip when needed , had original 56mm cyl and piston not a scuff or scratch on it as i took it apart for a full inspection , all i found was crack in the muffler and the fuel hose was worn and the elbow on the vent was a bit loose so replaced that , thought bugger it i,ll put on a 58 mm AM nikasil cyl kit for fun , did some light port work , widened the exhaust port lowered / widened the intake and did some other work to the transfers ,removed the base gasket , squish is now 26 thou which is fine enough , didnt want to do machining , replaced the exhaust with a AM open muffler , runs like a beast lol
  11. i run a 8 tooth and full chain on my 395 with an oregon 37 reduced weight bar in a 3 foot wide dead elm, it bogged down but in a big pine was fine , went to a 7 tooth and the dead elm when blocking it up and still bogged a bit , swapped over to a Oregon skip which was bought with the bar and made a big difference actually , so depending on the wood i spose either will do whats needs to done , not tried the 8 tooth with the skip yet tho
  12. yeah got it wrong , it is a 3/4 wrap, full wrap was not avaialble over here , so got that one , it is my pimp saw but does get used ,i like it , with the 20 inch bar on it its balanced perfectly on normal grip and the 3/4 wrap , even with the 24 on it its nice to use too and pulls it no bother , but dont use that one much as the 372 uses the 24 mostly

A pic of a couple of mods to my 562 xp ,Wrap handle , long spikes (from stubby) muffler mod done ,large hole opened up in the muffler inlet tube and additional hole in exit with die grinder , heat reflective tape under the muffler and in inside of the top cover, factory spec hole cut into top cover for better cooling ( has bee done by Husqvarna in latest model) 8 tooth sprocket and 20" sugi light bar , my fave saw now ,so smooth to run , no vibes felt compared to all other saws i have and cuts really well

  17. Husky 395 xp. My Pal recently got one so i decided to take it apart for inspection and clean , new crank seals fitted although nothing wrong , crank bearings smooth , new fuel line and filter installed , carb was mint , air filter had a little split in the mesh at the join so new one fitted , couple of scuffs on the piston but cyl was perfect , new meteor piston fitted , wee buff up with scotchbrite on a flapwheel so the new rings will bed in , back together now and been run blocking up an Elm along with my 395 xp which has 58mm cyl/piston and mild porting and a baffle free side exit muffler, mine is the one with the 28 inch Powermatch logo on it , his has a Powermatch bar too but logo worn off , but in the other pic you'll see the 2 new bars we got , 37 inch Powermatch RW bar and a 37 inch Tsumura bar Other pic is my 562 xp with new wrap handle and outer spike , but will get the big spikes soon the mail from Stubby , just for the looks really

  19. Hi Stubby i went to my husky dealer today and they are not available in uk :-( but the full wrap handle for the 562 is lol but is probably the same as 560 but it 86 quid :-(
  20. hmm hadnt thought of an outside dog, looks nice on my 395 too :-) i have been thinking about/lookng for a 3/4 wrap as that keeps the vibration down compared to full wrap but not sure if thats correct , i have a 28 sugi on my 385 xp ,562 will handle it it will pull it but i dont want to kill the 562 :-(
  21. Correct , as Stubby says they are different, i have a 562 from the US and they have the D009 mount and come with 3/8 sprocket and Different brake/ clutch cover from the 560 over here , K095 small mount bars so difficult to get a long enough bar for 3/8 chains

The 365 xt is a D009 mount so any bar on the bigger saws will fit i use a 20 normally on my 365 (372 now) but often a 24 Oregon Powermatch 3/8 0.58 full chisel and pulls it fine , had a 28 with skip to clear the wood better and was still fine , whole afternnon dicing up a big windblown oak and never missed a beat but dont bother now as i have a 385 and 395 now
  23. yep thats correct i got mine in mid 2013 its a derated 372 xp , all you need to do is take off the side transfers , grind out the restrictors and you have a 372 xp /xt , i did that to mine and the difference is not huge but does respond faster and cuts faster , the differnce is the cost , quite a lot , but all the parts are the same , same saw , just de rated for homeowners
