Caught a glimpse of this whilst working up on a garage roof. Land Rover special vehicles badge is just visible.

Hi If that’s myself you are asking then yeah they were knocked up with some rect hollow section but mount onto trailer chassis not the bed as the woodlands one do. Same for winch it’s mounted on an upright onto the main chassis and not into the existing stops box section as woodlands do. Cost approx £100 tops maybe not as pretty or easy to store as woodlands but as you say £500 is a lot for what they are. Is the one you are buying in the woodlands mill trailer ??

Hi Mark yeah it can be done it’s something I’ve looked into quite a bit to go on the trailer I built for my 130, there are some set ups that can be purchased as in the images I’ve added but also a lot depends on the height you are set up for and the type/strength of the trailer you have. I built my trailer over spec right from the get go to allow for the inclusion of hyd loading. It’s still on the cards but time and work etc have slowed things down a bit. I was going the separate Honda hyd pump route for power. There is a lot of things to get in the right place to make it work right but I know it’s possible for sure if you have access to the right eqpt. I’m running with ramps and a winch for now as an interim measure until I get the time to go otherwise. Mind you I watched the woodmizer demo at turiff show last weekend and after seeing that throw the log around like a matchstick I came away feeling rather envious. There is a fair bit of stuff online about self built loading set ups.

I’m pretty sure even if you had to pay someone Andy you could get a trailer made for near as damn it half that price. Might be worth taking a look around and see what fabrication outfits are nearby, if they have the existing bed to work off then things are much easier. Chances are you would end up with a far better more robust product in the end. I know time is always an issue when your offshore etc one way for a guaranteed head nipping is to spend your leave doing shit like working on a trailer build ??.

Andy what I found is that until I’d had at least a year of trading to show accounts for no one would even look at offering finance to the ltd company. Accountancy fees for a ltd company can add up and if vat registered that’s a return every quarter. As has been said it can be a good thing but also a total minefield.Good advice is a must. My woodlands was bought on a 0% credit card and paid off in a few lumps before the interest kicked in, free money if you play it right.

I would defo say the simpleton argument is not really valid but a few more summers like this and even trump and co are gonna have to sit up and take notice. The renewable energy thing is great but take a look at where the profit actually goes and where all these companies are based or owned it’s not quite as simple to say Scotland leads the way etc etc. Take a trip around north Germany Holland or Denmark onshore and offshore and you will see who is pushing the wind energy thing, mind you it’s the same there private companies chasing the profit. You will also find the sentiment in the north of England in regards to Westminster is not much different to that of Scotland but I will always believe that more division is not the answer. Especially to then dive head long into the most corrupt undemocratic corporate friendly organisation ever seen in Europe. The main stumbling point for me would always be the SNP the prospect of an independent Scotland with sturgeon and co in total control is a terrible one especially for anyone working hard and earning a few quid as they are seen as a legitimate target to be absolutely hammered by punitive taxation and as for state control, remember the business of every child having an appointed person or whatever it was put in place by the state WTF was that if not state interference. Was it not that long ago they referred to anyone earning over 43430 as rich !!!. And are we not paying more than a guy over the border earning the same wage. The upper thresholds have not kept up at all with earnings etc. Time will tell if boris will follow through with the promise of raising the English one to the suggested figure of £70-80 thousand. That will be a difficult one for the SNP to justify when In the previous budgets they did not pass on the increased limit put in place in England. The changes required across the board are monumental and I think none of the current mainstream parties really have a clue or the balls to get anywhere near to doing anything about it.

You are totally missing the point ref the oil revenues. The cost of getting to the point of generating revenue is prohibitive for most administrations to even attempt. Yes I’d agree and say the last god knows how many years have been a disaster in regards the waste of a national asset. Regarding independent myself I’m a staunch unionist through and through, I live in Aberdeenshire but am from England married to a Scots with kids up here !!! The prospect of an SNP/Green supported governed independent Scotland is not a good one for most hard working people who just want to get on in life. You only need to take a look at the devolved taxation in Scotland v the rest of the uk to see what route things would go. Originally I’m from a former mining community in the north east so have no love for Westminster or any doubts as to where the priorities lie etc. Scotland leaving one union to have to jump through a multitude of hoops to get into another totally non democratic one ??. To tell truth I’ve had a tits full of politicians, referendums and various bloody elections.

Part of the reason is probably the reasons you allude to earlier but also I’d say due to the fact it was common knowledge and due to the fear of offending people, absolutely bugger all of any significance was being done about it for years. The evidence was there all along which makes it very easy to be able to point the finger at people for blatant inaction.

Everything was out in the public domain long before he latched into it.

No need for the ferry boat neither spent enough time in Cambois when the power station was there to know I don’t miss it, He may be all of them things but freedom of speech can not be a selective right based on colour religion or if you happen to agree or disagree with the individual. Or indeed even dislike the guy. Know Newbiggin well went to school there. Did a bit of work a good few years back placing the rock armour that has that dubious statue on.
-
Who mentioned Robinson’s sincerity !!! I can assure you he’s not my cup of tea but at same time neither are the people who slate this country espouse violence and nothing is ever said or done. Wether you like him or not he is entitled to freedom of speech. As for him being a coke fiend as you put it or being able to throw a decent punch ??? That’s totally irrelevant, as for flagged up etc etc call it what you will but he was most definitely involved in dragging it into the public domain. As for the north east I’m from Lynemouth originally, you keep your bridge reet I’ve no need for one.
-
What he flagged up is the unpalatable truth of what was going on with a blind eye being turned to it. One of the reasons it was not followed up was undoubtedly the racial sensitivity displayed by many forces. I think it’s safe to say if it had been the other way around ie white gangs raping Asian girls the outcry would have been off the scale. No one is getting worked up as you put it what the guy you refer to is doing is exercising his right to express an opinion. Just as a one eyed one armed individual did for years in a London street.
-
Ok that’s what it must have been ?? like I say I’ll worry about if it happens !!!!
-
??ok well I’m sure if it wasn’t they would not have. To tell the truth I’ll worry about it if it happens other than that as far as I’m concerned it’s more than fit for purpose.

Yeah I’d say that would be a great idea as like RH states the graft involved can be a back breaking undertaking. If you are alone it can also become a safety issue in no time at all. My plans are on hold at the moment due to work commitments but once home and with some time on my hands I’ll hopefully push on with the fabricating of the extra stuff I want on the mill. The pic is of a basic lifter design which should not be hard to replicate or it can be bought as it is. To be honest I’ll probs go with ramps and a small jib/winch arrangement as an interim measure, hopefully that will allow me to at least get some milling done this summer.
-
I’ve got the Woodlands 130 on a self built twin axle braked trailer, the mill is permanently attached and no other load can be carried. I mentioned in another post that I was pulled in at a commissioners checkpoint not long after I’d Completed the build and other than ask a few questions about the mill itself the guys did not even pass comment on the actual trailer !!.
-
Yeah it’s plated up, was pulled in a while back at a random commissioners checkpoint and other than asking about the mill and how it worked they didn’t even mention the actual trailer itself.
-
Hi from hitch to back is 7.3m but you could lose .7m from the front as per the area in the pic. I added that in to take the Honda motor and hyd pump/tank etc hopefully at some point work permitting I’ll get round to getting a hyd loader etc sorted. Cheers
-
You not fancy just putting another bed section in ??? Not a great deal of cash on powder coating and re galvanising some of parts would have that tidied up no probs. You are gonna have to build the new one up anyway so getting it back to component form is no hardship. Trailer looks like it would be no hassle to re jig. That’s a pic of mine with extra bed section and obviously second axle which was not really necessary but more of a personnel choice.

My understanding too !! Im sitting on a fair bit of elm but looking for a good piece of beech to do a butchers table. All the research I did pretty much stated beech being the best most affordable option here in the UK.

Free lance scum contractor Andy so no fixed rotations. Got to take it when it’s on offer I guess, hard on the kids and family big time though. Jumping between boats with a good team of lads so no too bad in that respect. Trying not too think of the actual number of days ??. Getting the mill fully sorted is high on the list of jobs for sure. Probs gonna be a winch and ramps set up for loading initially to save time and sort the hydraulics later.
-
Hi Steve I'm interested but have 3 consecutive 6 week trips lined up with only 6 or 7 days off between each 1 so no time to finish work on mill until these are completed. as soon as im done ill get in touch and pay my dues. Cheers Dave

30k off Belgian coast arrived in the morning and didn’t move for about 8 hrs regardless of what was going on.

Looks really good Andrew. View is lovely. That raising procedure is indeed a crazy bit of rigging ??
