  1. Guys it’s not at all as hard to pay that amount of tax if you are in the right environment or industry . Over the 7 year period I mentioned give or take the payment on account crap it’s about £38k a year. I know full time contracted sat divers who are paying out 70-90k a year in tax. This is the reason many are choosing to pursue their trade overseas etc. If you think about it up here in SNP progressive tax land it’s 42% after £46300 plus your NI so easy over 50%, go above the next threshold and you start to lose your personal allowance and it’s even more as a percentage so nowhere near 1.5 million eggs in reality. I genuinely do not think people realise how hard we are being hit tax wise and all it does is literally keep working people down. I know talking to Andy he gets hammered for tax in Scotland even after paying his tax at source in Norway. All of the above is the reason I’ve literally took my foot right off the work pedal. The general public are it would seem very unaware of how little you need to earn before the system kicks into “ keep you down mode”
  2. The game is made harder not by the minions at the bottom but rather those manipulating the rules from above to think otherwise is very naive. Since 15/16 ( I know the exact figure due to a recently concluded 4 year Hmrc investigation) I’ve paid £271k personal tax into the system I’d say that is more than playing the “game”. I’ll take a bit of cash all day long if the opportunity arises.
  3. Your mrs was an Hmrc investigator 🤷‍♂️that’s a thread stopper I’d say. Relentless heartless c…s in my experience.
  4. In the current financial climate any income that is not raped by the system is more than welcome in my book. I’d say the amount of people taking cash is still very very high. In particular with loads of timber where cash really does talk.
  5. Absolutely nothing wrong with paying wages in cash at all, as long as it’s with the correct paper trail showing deductions etc and or get him to sign for it. Quite frankly it tends to make people more fiscally responsible when it’s hard cash they are handling on a day to day basis rather than painlessly swiping a bit of plastic, as well the banks know.
  6. Agree 100% and pretty much what I feel about the enquiry too and what it’s going to cost. Sweden has completed theirs already 🤷‍♂️
  7. Police investigating Tory Partygate 'jingle and mingle' bash after bombshell Mirror video APPLE.NEWS In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said: 'Following assessment of new evidence that was not... I’d have thought the Met would have something better to do judging by the amount of stabbings at the minute than waste time enforcing a historical bit of crap regulation that turned out actually to have been far more harmful and damaging than the thing it was supposedly protecting us all from.
  8. Tegid at Supersharp, LL14 post code great guy, very helpful and does a cracking job 👍
  9. Accurate to within less than a mm easy if set and sharpening is good. Any 25mm - 50mm wide band won’t be overly slow going through timber neither with the right amount of grunt behind it. Admittedly it won’t match a large wide band set up for speed but a lot less waste and attainable for a lot more of us.
  10. Covid pandemic linked to surge in child and teen diabetes WWW.BBC.CO.UK Experts have seen a 'substantial' yet unexplained rise in new cases worldwide since the pandemic. 🤷‍♂️unexplained
  11. VP of Russian bank Kristina Baikova, 28, falls to her death from window of Moscow apartment APPLE.NEWS A Russian banking executive, 28, has died after falling from a window of her Moscow apartment. Them Russian windows again 🤷‍♂️
  12. King Charles redirects £1bn windfarm profits towards ‘public good’ | Monarchy | The Guardian AMP.THEGUARDIAN.COM Wind energy agreements have generated windfall that would normally go towards monarchy Follow the money Mark not unlike covid bud, crown estate seabed portfolio !!!!! WTF 🤷‍♂️ Everywhere you look the public are being fleeced, the list of major shareholders in Thames Water and how much they have taken out is a real eye opener too.
  13. 🤔mmm well not that far Mark just some common sense would be nice, I see Sweden are taking the foot off the green pedal a bit and reconsidering options for a reliable base load capacity.
  14. No and whilst we can possibly see a pure profit Tory free market mentality as a possible cause I have yet to hear a single word from any labour politician stating they would insist upon manufacturing even a percentage on our shores. All we hear is lying BS about us becoming a global renewable powerhouse “ utter lies and Starmer knows it”
  15. Joe Biden says Putin is ‘clearly losing the war in Iraq’ APPLE.NEWS Joe Biden told reporters that Vladimir Putin is “clearly losing the war in Iraq” in his latest blunder. Biden on the ball as usual 😂
  16. So easy to put a minimum local content stipulation in at the beginning of any negotiations Mark, total lack of political will and long term vision by all the political parties. Tens of thousands of jobs being lost 😡
  17. The propaganda is great but the reality is totally different. Mark none of what you see off our coast is built here bud, the new ships to carry out the maintenance from the base on the Tyne are built in vietnam, go to blyth mate and see how many foreign vessels are there and offshore is worse ie the heavy lift barges. Stuff is made all over the world including China and shipped here, we are getting nothing but the crumbs. Scotland won’t be independent hopefully, my view on the oil and gas is same as Norways if we need it then let’s use our own to do otherwise is pure madness. PM me if you want bud, I’ve two mates rigging on a Bulgarian crewed vessel out of Blyth they will enlighten you big time to what is actually going on out there and the sheer financial waste too.
  18. Norway approves 19 new oil projects worth around £14.62 bn WWW.ENERGYVOICE.COM Norway has approved 19 new oil and gas projects in its waters, with total investment topping NOK... In the meantime we pander to the just stop oil and net zero fools that Starmer courts, the UK is genuinely being led by fools and ****************ed over whatever way you look it would seem. But hey at least we are good at promoting LGBTQ+ values 👍👍
  19. Looks like that unaccountable organisation just doesn’t like being wrong. As much as I am no Lineker fan they chased him for over 5 years and lost. I wonder if it were not taxpayer funded would they still try and chase it. My case was 4 years and the end result is my tax contributions are now 25% or less of what they were prior to the investigation 👍👍well done Hmrc.
  20. Schoolboy error 😞🤷‍♂️
  21. Even better to have it stashed at home, up to a point admittedly.
  22. Your cynicism is starting to rub off on me Mark
  23. The UK deserves better than Keir Starmer’s half-hearted pitch for prime minister APPLE.NEWS If the government changes, but the frustrations many voters feel stay the same, what then? Old knee taker might get just realise it ain’t as easy as it looks Mark, always tempting to sit back and criticise but when the buck stops at you it’s totally different. Nothing Labour or any of the other opposition parties are saying looks to have any real connection to the problems your typical working class family is encountering. Labour in particular seem more concerned with various vocal minority groups than anything else.
  24. Things must be buzzing down your way eh 👍
  25. Political party choices are not great at min Mark I’ll agree.
