Cheers for the reply you got any images or pics of the set up you describe ?? I’ve seen some images online of the method they use but not detailed enough to get a good idea. Probs gonna mic the bushes between the outer and inner frames and plasma cut something to go over the bush, get that welded to the bush and then mate it to the existing holes in the rails at either side of the stowed mill with it in travelling position. Decided to try and sort this today just to get away from bloody politics for a while.

Hi All just wondering if anyone has access to any pics of the method that Woodlands use to secure the actual mill to the trailer. I see it is welded to the spacer on the running wheel set up. Couple of images online but not great for what I’m after. Also an image of where/how it locks into would be good. Current temp set up is in image but trying to come up with a nicer solution long term.

Ruth Davison was a great asset to the pro union cause. She spoke more sense and truth than any politician in Scotland. I do fear her absence will make a difference, in Scotland right now it has turned into an indyref 2 prequel rather than a general election. The SNP are like many parties that rely on human emotions ie envy, resentment, anger to win votes and are very good at banging one drum loudly. They utilise what borders on pure propaganda very well. Mull is way off the mark to say I’m coming round. Far from it, In its current format the SNP would be the last party on this earth I’d want to live under in an independent state. First minister, justice mister and finance minister are some of the angriest bitter nippy faced buggers I’ve ever seen. Do your day job well, prove you can run the country well then come back !!!

You know what Andy that sort of shite means absolutely nothing to me, I’ve served with worked with and am married to a Scot I live here pay my taxes ( Too much ) and as I said a few posts ago have heard more than enough anti English pish from many a pissed up individual that it’s just meaningless. As ive said if and it’s a big if the SNP could prove that they were capable of running the country well That would be a head start in gaining some validity in many people’s eyes. On a slightly more deviant line of thought I wonder what would be worse servicing the blonde bombshell or having to do wee Kranky? ?♂️??

Lol think of the day rate Andy, waiting for a weather window to head to Ithaca FPF1 to put them procedures to the test.

It’s loaded direct to tankers due to nothing else but the engineering ease with which floating/moored structures can be installed in that water depth. And please let’s not go down the fabled west of Shetland oil reserves route. The cost and risk to get that out of the ground from exploration to production is massive. When the SNP prove themselves to be a forward thinking, fiscally adept and proficient government then maybe people will start to think it can be achieved. Relying on historical hatred and conspiracy theories really is a piss poor argument.

Worked with a guy whom quoted all the similar kind of stuff you are and was like a rabid dog at the last indyref . He ended up getting sacked due to his inability to come to terms with the result of the referendum. Kept quoting historical stuff as you are from hundreds of years ago etc etc etc. Conspiracy theories about Westminster and how Scottish oil at 120 usd a barrel would make us rich etc etc basically caused a pile of confrontation on site to such an extent his position became untenable. As I’ve said before and J alludes to if they want independence then show they can govern well first and stop blaming everyone and everything for all the messed up policies and socialist crap they are trying to implement. The past is the past me I’d rather look forward than hundreds of years ago to aid my decision making process. One thing I do get sick of even though I’ve lived and worked up here most of my life and am married to a Scot with kids born here etc etc is the never ending anti English rhetoric from people like yourself stoked up by that shit stirring incompetent bugger sturgeon. I’m originally from the north east of England and let me assure you that area has not had it easy for a long long time.

She has no right nor democratic mandate with just over a third of the electorate voting SNP. The government is backed up by the greens too to sustain many of the policies or decisions it makes. Truth is if she had made a cracking job of running Scotland then maybe I or others could turn around and say yeah these lot might just be able to pull this off. But SNP governance has not shone through as an unbridled success at all. All that they focus on is indyref 2 to the detriment of everything else.

About 7-8 years ago I was bumped on Xmas eve for just under 10 grand a good portion of which I had laid out in expenses etc. About 6 of us got the news on the ferry back from Dublin to Holyhead, not wanting to be pessimistic but very few got anything back that they were owed and those that did it was only a fraction of the total bill. We all received a breakdown of the debts and costs incurred, if I remember rightly the fees the solicitor in charge of the whole debacle were astronomical. The final kick in the balls was the guy running the company was back up and running weeks later in exactly the same guise.

Any Second Hand SRT Gear for Sale in UK?

Id avoid the converters, A 6Kva 3 phase genny ain’t a big lump of a thing and won’t eat much red at all. Might be worth keeping an eye out for an ex stby unit etc with low hrs. Having that on site will open up the opportunity for other 3 phase kit which can often be found for a lot less than the single phase equivalent.

Interesting and very disappointing fact J

Owned a HW97K another great weihrauch underlever, sold it a few years back and often kick myself for doing so. As much as I disagree with J at times ref German manufacturing excellence vs the UK etc I do have to admit they make some fine rifles. I’ve owned an Anschutz 1427 since 2000 which I bought for pennies second hand at the time, it’s a fantastically well made and accurate tool with a trigger second to none.

HW80 all day. Getting a spring gun to behave at FAC levels is by all accounts not easy, hence the plethora of PCP stuff as opposed to spring. I’ve a superten in 22 on FAC and love it. Great for vermin with a cheap photon set up on. At same time I see the attraction of spring as I often just grab a BSA Lightning to plink with the kids, quite good to go old school at times.

Probably true but if it’s a once or twice a year job then justifying any other options is quite hard.

Agreed in some respects but it’s the way it is. Most rigging is contained with lofts or containers so tends not to be exposed to the elements until required but the key thing is the visual inspection!!! (Which cannot see inside the outer cover in many cases) If anything ever went tits up the blame game is horrendous and take it from me we do live in a blame culture contrary to what is often said. Less hassle and safer to replace and use new certified dedicated stuff on every new job that can include everything from a 1ton strop to a skip full of chain pulls and lever hoists etc etc.
-
Crazy thing is Andy I reckon you would be a very rich man if you had the access to the content of each skip in the onshore bases or yards in Aberdeen or any other offshore support area. Rigging and lifting eqpt alone with a single immersion policy it’s once in the water then skipped. Not so easy on choppers but it makes for rich pickings on the boats at demob ?unofficially of course.

Possibly initially yeah but what starts off as a good clean straight slab is not necessarily the same after a couple of years drying, The woodpecker kit is defo on the way too pricey for me side hence knocking up the ones in Ali. Hopefully they will be reasonably robust and do what’s required of them.
-
Nothing flash Andy but strong and should do the job. Tried a few options for router base and to be honest either the plastic or Ali cut on the plasma moved well enough on the sled. Guess it’s not like it’s flying up and down all day. Plates are cut with a 60mm centre but no router mounting holes as I guess it depends on what machines gonna go on. The 60 mm aperture should accommodate the larger flattening bits no probs. Plan is to use some box section or straight timbers to crate the rails for the sled to run on. Any table or saw horses etc like the ones I see you have will take rails. I don’t have the luxury of being able to leave whatever I build set up so it will be put together when needed and stored if not.
-
Had the chance to spend a day at a mates working on the ideas and fab for the flatteners. Plasma was great for making the router plates. Pics are in no particular order apologies for that

Try Adrian Flux Andy my ifor is through them and price is very fair. Can you post a couple of pics of how the mill is secured to the rails during transit I’ve a few ideas of my own but it’s good to see how others have done it.
