  1. I use air pots. I use loads of them. You need to dunk to water. Watering from the top doesn't work. I buy them from one particular seller. His are as good as the originals at a fraction of the price. I grow big trees in them. There is total science behind them. I wouldn't use anything else.
  2. What do you want them for, how many?? I have a small nursery of trees, made mistakes and learnt. I grow oak, spruce, Douglas, sycamore, ash for personal consumption, Monterey, acer, maple etc. Ask away. Birch too.
  3. I was after another vice, if you do want to scrap it let me know. Cheers.
  4. Look up "How to work a mobile sawmill" on YouTube. That's my buddies milling with a Peterson. They said it was a shame they were only milling matchsticks.
  5. But that begins with an H so it doesn't count.
  6. A lot to be said for a lightweight saw with a decent chain....
  7. Indeed. I've found the little 181 to be such a damned good tool.
  8. Been logging with my saw I've had since it came out years ago for the last 3 weeks. I use it everyday too. Bullet proof. I rate the little saw.
  9. How far from the house are they and approx height?
  10. I had my 361 & 461 stolen on the same day.

    Goat. I think so anyway.
  12. Good on you. If it works keep doing it. Nice timber there.
  13. Genuinely a minefield really. I use a saw every day and I learn something everyday. It's just about experience. Everyone will have an opinion both good and bad, it's their opinion though. Good luck with your choice.
  14. Slippery slope. Get something in writing from him with his expectations. If he won't then that's your answer.
  15. Thanks for the replies so far, an hourly rate as the tractor will be running all the time although not when rounding up of course.
  16. Been asked to cut into rounds 10 cubes of wood, split with hydraulic splitter tractor mounted, then using the bucket taking them a couple of hundred yards for storage. How/what would you charge? An hourly? Cheers for any pointers. It's a domestic job.
  17. I use a basic garden centre mildew spray on mine. Spray above and below the leaves too. They will recover.
  18. Basically blow-ins think the rural scene is bird song and sunsets. Forestry happens in forests. Don't move next to an RAF base and complain about the noise of planes. Don't move to the country and moan about tractors. I mill and I'm considerate. But wood needs cutting and that's that. Trees fall down.
  19. Appreciate the replies. If anyone has the above for sale let me know. Cheers.
