  1. Best milling saw by far is in my opinion the 076. I use one virtually daily. Also I use a logosol system. Only downside is the saw is heavy. Other than this I'd find a good 460. If you can get a 076 for £250 as mentioned above I'd get it. I run a 30" bar as standard. If you haven't used a saw with the torque of something like an 880/881/076 then they'll be a revelation.
  2. That's bloody funny.
  3. Anyone cleaned chainsaw covers in a dishwasher? Just refurb img one and what it easily and well cleaned. I'm talking about plastic parts obviously. Thanks in advance.
  4. Someone once said to me if you plant before Xmas you are telling the trees to grow, plant after Xmas and you're asking the trees to grow. I'm starting planting in 2 weeks.
  5. The tree guards haven't killed the trees, the previous custodians did.
  6. Thanks. That's the impression I got.
  7. Thoughts on the saw please. General use saw.
  8. With regards to price, I agree with the postings so far, I never take the piss but I charge for the skill level/timber/time. I'm embarrassed talking money with clients but for bespoke people will pay the right price if the product is a one off. Anyone can buy a gate etc but a one of piece is a statement. Charge accordingly. Look at a solid oak front door on eBay. The price reflects the product. Don't under value yourself. If it was easy they'd do it themselves.
  9. I use a logosol mill. Their customer service has been second to none. V helpful. I milled a massive beech the other day. V accurate cuts delivered by their system.
  10. What's your budget for the mill btw?
  11. I have a Stihl 362 and I love the saw but I don't think it'll quite have the grunt for milling. I only ever use mine to mill the smaller planks in soft woods.
  12. As per email.
  13. I have a very good hydraulic log splitter (back of a tractor one) for £350 if anyone's interested. KTM 10 ton plus load. Only split one trees worth of logs, also tubex tree guards and stakes, unused, still wrapped. I have loads. Based in Central/North Devon. Anyone interested?
  14. Pollarded one in February, quite a hard prune. The regrowth this year was massive.

    Tree ID please.

I think you are spot on. I was mailed earlier by a kind guy who says the same. Arbtalk forum or soooo much better than arb talk Facebook. So much more pro. Nice one geezers.

    Tree ID please.

    Quick growing.
  17. Thanks in advance.
  18. No pun intended.
  19. Zubat pole and hand.
  20. Pollarding really.
  21. Montereys have done really well, Douglas too. Birch saplings have thrived but had mildew on all the oaks. Easily sorted though. Sycamore has, as expected cos they're easy put on a few feet. Acers and field maple as always slow.
  22. Good luck with it. The mix just needs to drain. I've got conifers popping out of rough tracks all over the place at the moment. Saplings everywhere. It's been a good summer for trees.
  23. Just the end of a long shoot.
  24. Excellent.
  25. Thank you. That makes sense.
