  1. I have a Navara. The best pick up about imo.

    Id please

Coolabah I reckon. I have one.
  4. Have done.
  5. I have 50 or more dumpy sacks of logs to dispose of individually or as a job lot. The wood has been down a while but needs more seasoning. Perfect for next winter. The logs are softwood. Any advice happily accepted.
  6. Because 12 trees falling in a plantation don't just fall happily on the ground. It will mean at least another 5-10 come out too. Also I would say they weigh at least that. But thanks for the input.
  7. Firewood it is then. Shame really tall straight trees.
  8. They are on the edge of larch clear fell. They've been OK for nearly three years, it was the unusual NWer that got them. Trouble is its just shy of an full load so commercially I can't do a lot with them. I was thinking of having them milled on site but don't know the value of the planks yet. Any input appreciated.
  9. We lost another load of trees in last nights storms. 30-40 year old spruce. A small amount really and in the past we've hired in an extractor with large amounts to deal with. I don't want to just turn them into firewood. Any suggestions? Devon based.

The operative words are "cash" & "song".

Dan, do me a favour and phone mainstream insurance company for a quote. Tell them the issues and see what they say. Then phone another. I think that'll make your mind up for you. Chris thanks for backing me up too.

    Subsidence

In these days of tough insurance you'll not get covered. Virtually the first question asked will be about subsidence evidence. The house will be a millstone for you. I have bought and sold over 20 houses in the last 10 years and know what I'm talking about. Walk away. You'll regret the purchase. Look at all the headlines about insurance companies and the premiums for flood risk areas. The same will apply to his house and all the data is linked. It may be a lovely house but there are others without this massive issue. If you ever need to resell it you'll have to declare I and there will be another on here asking the same question. Walk away. It's the biggest purchase you'll make in your lifetime.

    Poorly trees

Without sounding like a killjoy I hope you don't find any.
  16. Thanks guys, where its a winner is difficult extractions. We lost a load of big spruce that were really tricky. Milled them where they fell and carried the boards and posts out. We cut beams for a cabin too. From firewood to valuable timber. Happy days.
  17. Sorry for the plug, a mate of mine has just got his new mill, his website description says it all really. Good bloke too. Portable Saw Milling of Timber - Adding value to your roundwood timber
  18. Spike, stake, tree, guard.
  19. Nice one, it's in our garden and needs shaping. I avoid bird nesting season too. Cheers.
  20. I use a ms181 every day logging but use an ms362 for big stuff. Had a 361 before this that was pinched. The 362 is a great saw.
  21. I have a specimen verigated holly tree, have conflicting pruning advice. When to do it?

    My logtrailer

I made up a similar trailer for the smaller stuff. Surprising what you can do with a quad/trailer combo.
  23. Ditto Rowan.
