  1. Just came in for some lunch and im in one of those moods where the wood that needs sitting is tough, the logs that need chainsawing are awkward and the tractor/proceccor cant get in there until space is cleared, and the wind and mud is getting on my tits!! How are you guys faring on this lovely british monday !
  2. Not too bad for a days work, looks nice and wet where you are aswell, pertfect logging weather hey!!
  3. Just out of interest on a large splitter like that could you just whack a long row of rung up logs that are 8" long and split 10-15 lumps in one push, or do the logs fly/fall of the log deck
  4. No matter what I do my pics always upload upside downn!!! Really annoying, ive even took those pics with the phone upside down but makes no difference ffs!!!! Any ideas guys?
  5. First few pics are of the pile ive been on!!, mostly poplar and oak to be split, then mostly oak with some pine and hornbeam to be processed either on me dalen or by chainsaw! !
  6. there was a stand at lamma 16 selling branch loggers and they were over£6k!!!
  7. been plenty of heavy wind today which always help drying the logs
  8. Heres some pics for ya all, there been taken over the last few weeks! And aint it bloody windy out this morning! !!!!!
  9. The rather small diameter no bigger than say 12" and straight trunks are relatively easy even though can be a struggle with its awful grain that eucalyptus has, as for it seasoned for me its a mixed bag as its splits alot when drying out meaning it sometimes slits its self or it goes like concrete
  10. The first pic is off some lovely oak I waz chopping by axe!! Mainly as the wood was riddled with metal and screws, thankfully who dropped it off cutt it up small so they could lift it so I didnt to go near it with a chainsaw!!
  11. eucalyptus especially the larger butt ends are a pig not only for splitting but cutting aswell and i find its quite a heavy wood aswell when green, i find it burns quite well
  12. i get lumps like that when i wannathrow them in a ditch somewhere and say it must have fallen off the dumper!!! or i just attack it with the chainsaw
  13. Yh bedn nice, loads of wind and rain, just how I like it jon!! Also been warm saying 15 degreeson my thermometer!
  14. This is the logs ive been doing in the lovely wet and rain with some very strong wind (for us southerners anyway)
  15. Love the artwork on the truch mate, gotga be up there with the best fifewood truck ive seen!
  16. Thought id do a post to see what you guys have been up to in the firewood world, love to see some pics aswell of what logs youve been processing, and it would be a good chance to seehow u process them, either by firewoid processor, log splitter , chainsaw, sas bench or the good old AXE
  17. Very true but u cant beat a cosy log fire crackling away in the back ground with a nice cider in your hand after a day of log work, or any work for that matter
  18. Before I got my dalen 2054 I was very interested in the tajfun 400joy which seems a good machine and I saw one at the lamma 16 show on Wednesday and it looks pretty well built and I do like things like its wide conveyor etc. As for the 480 ive seen a few vids on youtube and it looks cool and very hi tech, I like how it automatically adjust the splitting knife by reading the diameter of the lig thats about to be cut but I think it would probably be far to expensive and I cant see how it would be any quicker than the 400joy or my dalen 2054 wich is very simple but effective. Anyone on here used the dalen 2054
  19. Yh similar to us where were on a farm so theres always loads to get on wiith! Still after a busy week you always notice by the end of it tharlt the old log pile has shrunk! Then again weve got so much wood filling 3 barns and absolutely sh*t loads stored outside it dosnt make a freat difference haha
  20. Just out of interest I was wondering whats the most amount of logs you guys have sold in a week, im guessing ours could be near the 100 cm3 bags!
  21. Have you still got alot leftt or where its free have these guys been chomping at the bit to get the wood, haha
  22. I love it when its busy, seeing the wood fly out!
