  1. Visited in the summer, there really arent many trees and they tend to be pretty small. Not going to much climbing work available.
  2. Flat is better i reckon, circular blows it all over the shop and feels less concentrated. Vac bag hardly ever gets used but is quality for picking up hedge trimming.
  3. So best to go with the sponsorship/work visa route. I don't mind sticking in one place for a while and exploring with my free time.
  4. Thanks for the advice, Will probably go with the working holiday route, Although I thought you couldn't work full time. Do you have to apply for a work visa to be able to work full time?
  5. I plan to head out to Nz for a couple years (with a mind to stay permanently) once ive saved some money (couple years minimum due to some debt) and have just been looking at how I'd go about it doing it. I hold cs31, 32, 38, 39 and im 21. On the Nz immigration website it says you need 3 years relevant experience to get a work visa (Through the short term skills list). I currently work for a landscaping/gardening firm and only climb once a month or so at the moment. Would that count towards the experience? If I were to go the sponsorship route through one of the bigger companies is there still a requirement for 3 years of experience. I plan to move to a tree firm at the end of 2017 regardless of what im doing in the future and hopefully look at leaving for Nz at the end of 2018. Tah for your help.
  6. The more i look at New Zealand the better it looks. Just need to get a couple more years experience under my belt and then i think im going to head out there. This country is too bloomin wet and crowded.
  7. My first job since getting my tickets, Taking some hollys down,Went pretty well.
  8. I got my first saw a little over a month ago. A 560xpg and i love it, Buying a 201 t-cm tomorrow and im certain that i'll love that too.
  9. I have this. [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/LFR51400A2-01-MOBILE-RUGGED-Epitome-Verified/dp/B01ATL3UK6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1459447390&sr=8-2&keywords=kazam+rugged]KAZAM LFR51400A2-01 MOBILE PHONE KAZAM LIFE R5 RUGGED BLACK [1] Pro-Series (Epitome Verified): Amazon.co.uk: Electronics@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51R5mHix-0L.@@AMEPARAM@@51R5mHix-0L[/ame] Its not bad, camera is not too bad, works for everything i need it. It only has space for 5 pictures though without an SD card.
  10. Also in Sheffield and doing my 38/39 assessment tomorrow. If you find some people i wouldn't mind coming along for some climbing.
  11. I think I need to pick up an 11mm lanyard, the 13mm one I use with the ap2 is pretty jerky especially when it gets wet.
  12. Also a new climber. I get the same, perhaps not so bad. I used to be terribly afraid of heights and it still kicks in occasionally, just a few deep breaths, check the gear and force myself to carry on. The biggest fear for me is knowing whether a limb is safe to tie onto, spotting dead branches isn't easy all the time but I just trust that over time i will get better at spotting it. Fear is healthy, keeps you alive.
  13. I can't remember where I saw it but I think there are better axes for cheaper than the Gransfors.
  14. Bloody hell, one of my biggest fears is being pulled into a chipper.
  15. If only they had dibnah to help.
  16. Today was the last day of my CS30/31 (assesment monday) so took a few pictures. Cracking fun all week.
  17. Husky 440 is a nice little saw. What are you planning to use it for mostly?
  18. That is not how it should be, the difference a few trees on a road makes is absolutely huge. Totally changes the feel and look of the place. Im all for removing dead, damage or infected trees but ripping a loads of trees out to save a few bob isnt going to do any good.
  19. Are you looking for a groundie or asking if there is interest for hiring you?
  20. It depends, some stuff we cant do when its sodden as it would do more damage (to lawns and such) than any work. Otherwise boss will call it quits once we get piss wet through.
