  1. The best bit was everyone that parks their car under the tree took notice of the notice. First time was everything.
  2. Srt, Bulldog bone sharp silky saw and secateurs makes an easy job for this TPO Yew reduction by 1m to 1.5m.
  3. My prices increase year on year and I still win work and very busy. Yes I was one who kept my prices low for far to long worried about going over the VAT threshold and losing all my work but when I did have to register I didn't lose any more work then before and gain a bit. It is always easier said then done on pricing higher but until the bosses do no one below them will benefit with higher wages and the arb industry will be less appealing. My point is there is nothing wrong with wanting more out of this job whether you are a grounds man or company owner and we can change things for the better one step at a time.
  4. If I had someone in a team leader role that could run the whole show while I went out each day pricing then I would be looking at paying then around £40000. It's not about what people are being paid but rather what they should be. There is money in this industry to pay good wages but unfortunately to many people price the same as they did 20 years ago holding everything back.
  5. True but that won't change until people start to realise what they are worth in this industry. If you can't even get £100 a day then you need to move on if possible as I'm sure there are firms out there that would snap you up.
  6. Any team leader should be on around £40000 wage give or take the area you work.
  7. 160 on the books as you lead a team even through you might not be the main climber. Plus an extra 10 to 20 a day if you drive and maintain the trunk and chipper.
  8. I really like the new evo but I just don't think I could do with out a turn table as that's the best thing with the qc. Part of me is hoping that they will do an evo at some point on a turn table but until then I will just do with changing roller motors every now and then.
  9. I have a Gm QC and have had the same problem with the feed rollers where they spring a leak and over time you lose all the hydraulic oil and rollers stop working. Apparently the problem lies with the roller motor that hangs down not being able to hold the weight of the roller on top. I have had 4 motors need to be changed over two QC. Funny but my first QC that I clocked 700 hours with never had the problem.
  10. Are you running a gm with vertical or horizontal rollers.
  11. It's Cousin Atrax which I think is the same as Petzl FLOW as I'm sure Cousin makes Petzl rope. Have found it a really good rope for both drt and srt but will try the xstatic once it wears out. Guy I work with has the xstatic with his rr pro and really rates it. Just need to wear out a rope before I buy a new one otherwise I'll just end up with half used ropes 😊.
  12. Just could not wait any longer for the rr pro so jump in and got a bone. What a brilliant piece of kit and so easy to use.
  13. It's not a lot of money unfortunately but with any job that you start without any qualifications you will start on min wage and have to better yourself to gain more money. At least the company you are working for are doing it by the book and paying towards your NI and pension which is worth something. Have you considered going to college for the year and getting all your tickets in one go. This way you have more choice of jobs when you leave.
  14. Sycamore reduction today where I thought I would be done by 12. Think again.
  15. Sorry I did not know that. Do you need a grinder thinner then 29inchs. Have you looked at the Jo Beau B24-100
  16. Sorry I did not know that. Do you need a grinder thinner then 29inchs.
  17. I would stick with the bandit. They are bomb proof and will go through a 25 inch gap. Only downside is it is very heavy. Are you looking to move away from a pedestrian stump grinder.
  18. Heard of a tree surgeon that always loved to take cash and not declare it until he could not get a mortgage.
  19. I had four all around the same size in the grave yard to reduce or pollard. Went well with everything rig or speed line and enjoyed it.
  20. Pollard of an old Lime. Rig everything to miss the gravestones.
  21. I have found that it's really only the over 60s with a mortgage free house and tidy pension that still ask the cash question and anyone else is just happy to pay in full by bank transfer. They don't want to pay the VAT but more then happy to use all the services that it provides.
  22. I might try that one next time as I already don't what the job when they start asking to lose the VAT.
  23. Thanks for sharing the video. Looks a smooth bit of kit.
  24. Thanks for the replys, much appreciated. Read only good on the bone the only thing on the runner was it could possibly have a ce mark like the Akimbo.
  25. Update on the runner. I messages Notch to ask and apparently there is a batch due on the 12th April. Once all the back orders have been sent out we should start to see them here but no time frame given. Been reading up on the BDB and in two minds whether that would be a better device to purchase now rather than waiting for rope runner. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
