  1. I put petrol in my smiley transit, only realised after a couple of miles when it started to run like a pig, nursed it home for another three miles, drained and replaced and it was fine. Sophisticated modern diesels would be a different story I suspect.
  2. Yeah I've done it. Worse things happen at sea.
  3. Anyway thanks for the vid, on the subject of standing deadwood I saw a black woodpecker today, bit of a treat,
  4. Hmmm, i watched the vid, I can see the monolith thing, standing rotting wood. It's tempting to view the coronet thing as a bit of a fad, chance for a few peeps to play around with some chainsaw carving. It's difficult to put into words what I think of fracture pruning. I can't see it ever seriously breaking into hard nosed domestic work, strictly for LAs/public parks etc.
  5. I have loads of boxes of bits of various saws. It's amazing how you can always find a particular part for one of your current saws, saving you money and downtime. Buy a new one and keep the old one.
  6. They're too expensive for anything but posing. There's a limit to how much "brand" one can have. As I said I wear mine for show, for work I'd something that costs a quarter of the price.
  7. Honestly I have no idea, it was €91, I bought it for pricing to give the illusion of competence.
  8. Ps. Yes I hang upside down from the ceiling, but I'm not a vampire or there wouldn't be a reflection.
  9. I bought this Stihl jacket the other day, it's not for work though, just pricing at the weekend.
  10. Yep, now I think about it there was a plate, it was the grease that stopped the squeal though. Lasted 6 months then had to to do it again. The squeal upset the dog, I had to do something!
  11. I had exactly the same thing, take the pads out and put some grease BEHIND the pads. It's the pads vibrating apparently.
  12. 28" bar on mine Hi Matty, can I ask how the sugi is stronger?
  13. Nice vid, why did you negative rig? Couldn't you chunk it down?
  14. Yes it does Ted, some trees/shrubs can be regularly hammered and still comeback within a season and put on enough growth to provide an aesthetically pleasing (at least to the owner) "amenity tree"
  15. You know this is a magnolia not a maple don't you?
  16. So after falling upon this thread where 7/8 years ago people were saying coronet cuts are a passing fad, the question is, were they right?
  17. People often talk about "giving the trade a bad name" IMO professionals constantly telling punters that a tree should come out when it quite clearly doesn't, causes more disenchantment that a few bad reductions.
  18. Do you see any evidence of raised pavements Ted?
  19. Magnolia are very resilient. You can cut the branch no problem, the tree will be fine. Don't listen to the removal brigade.
  20. It also reduces the shock load on the (potentially) vulnerable Krab, you'll get 85% pressure on the half hitch the rest on the Krab. Figures approximate of course.
  21. Good pics. What time does it get dark up there in the afternoon Rich?
  22. Buy a trolley Jack and keep it under the seat, and put the spare wheel on the space in the frame above the fuel tank.
