  1. Stuff happens to all equipment, you’ll need spares, advice etc. I doubt you’ll save any money on a brand new chipper shopping around. If you do, the few hundred quid you save won’t be worth it.
  2. Why didn’t you get a splitter for the back of the tractor? much more powerful.
  3. Agreed Doobin. Truth is all of the models you mentioned have a good rep, at those prices I’d look at individual trucks as a prospect rather than fixate on a particular model/make.
  4. Get it from your local dealer, then when you need it fixed ASAP they’ll help.
  5. Looks a bit grim weather wise Paul. Hate the rain!
  6. I understand, but if it’s something generic like ‘logs to you” or the like then it’s up to you to change your name to something more distinctive. You can’t own basic job/trade descriptions.
  7. It would be nice, but some clients won’t have it. (in reply to @skyhuck)
  8. I mean it’s doable, I use the Multione if I can get it in or on it’s on the job anyway. Its just that the stuff isn’t useful, the sawmill that takes my chip doesn’t want it. Some of it you need a fork to move, some of it you need a shovel, it’s heavy. If you can leave it in situ it’s worth discounting the job.
  9. I love the phrase “habitat pile” which basically means pile of rubbish we can’t be bothered to clear up.
  10. Clearing grindings is a logistical pita.
  11. They’re ok for grindings, but compacted stuff that you run over with the machine is too stubborn. One of those rubber flapper things for the Kombi tool is a more effective clearer upper, then finish with a blower. Just my 2c.
  12. Twice a year is hardly pestering.
  13. Nothing wrong with a bit of hustle.
  14. That’s the one, very good comparison.
  15. 23 cm, 75hp tier 4 engine. cannot load link, just YouTube Schliesing 485ex, my channel should appear.
  16. I should have stayed with TW. Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda as they say. Forst good as gold at the moment I hasten to add.
  17. There’s a great video of an TR8 side by side with a tracked 280, there’s little between them production wise, it’s the reliability that interests me.
  18. Paid €19000, would take €17000
  19. I run the little picco chain on my echo, but sharpen it with a 4mm file, much easier. Cuts good.
  20. Didn't you say the Schliesing is for sale though Mick? Dropping back to rely on the Forst? Looking to run one chipper, in an ideal world it’ll be a TW280. Schliesing sits idle too much, Forst is behaving itself lately after rebalancing the rotor disc and replacing the top roller motor shaft, it’ll be paid off in a month after 5 years, so time for a rethink.
  21. I’m pretty sure they’d hang up on me if they phoned me asking about my chipper.
