Anyone had a small woodburning stove fitted to an existing fireplace recently ? The other half wants one. Our fireplace will need linned, and a hearth with the smallest stove available. If you are in Sussex area perhaps you could let me know what you think the rough price would be. Or anyone who has had one done recently please let me know. Yes I know, weather is getting warmer. I'm not a fencer but we had 4 bays of closeboarding done and the guy who did it charged us £145 per bay. We found that a really competitive price for Sussex. Don't know if that helps in any fashion at all. Tree LC Horsham Tree Surgery

Tim has a good point that I didn't mention. We always also quote for the job and not a daily rate. If you work out your price structure correctly then you cannot lose. At the end of the day if you give a fair price for your work, do a good job and are polite. You will get further work either from that recommendation or from the same customer at a later time. Hi Frank I suppose, the initial outlay is fairly expensive but in my opinion it was worth it as they are really good and nothing seemed too much trouble. An ongoing expense is that I pay them to keep me high up in the local Google search. You can see their prices on their website. www.wowfishdesign.co.uk There are lots of website people out there so it is hard to know who to chose. Charging £100 a day is okay of you can get regular work. If you charge £80 per day and work 5 days per week that will give you £1600 per month. If you can only get 3 days per week charging £100 per day then your wages are only £1200 per month. What are you going to do with the extra days off - most probably spend money on doing something. I am a great believer in working as much as you can to get the best things in life. So there is no real answer apart from, it depends on you. Tree LC Horsham tree surgery

If you are getting it sign written, I would go smart and simple, with your logo. If it is covered too much, then you will not get anyone to take a mental snap shot of you or your logo. Also cost wise, it is more cost effective to go simple. Tree LC Tree surgeon Horsham

When we quote a price on our work, everything as you have said is worked out to the penny. If you start budging on a quote, then you are showing the customer that you have actually got the quote wrong. Not a great start to customer relations and of course they will tell anyone that they know that your quote isn't really your price. Stick to your guns, definately. Tree LC Tree surgeon Horsham

Hi Frank, I did my own website at the start but wasn't getting any business from it. It was just that I could. I suppose if I gave a business card out, they could go directly from there. I then had a site made for me and the guy does the Google stuff. That's where it has made a real difference. Now I'm choosing what jobs I want to do as the work is coming in fast, really because of the web guys promotion work for me. Although it's not cheap, it really has helped me enormously, even had to take on extra staff and just bought new machinery. If you can, I would say it's worth getting in someone that knows what they are doing as they will put in the time to get you seen. Tree LC Tree surgeon Horsham

Although we have an accountant, a friend of mine bought a book called : Tax tips for Uk Authors by TL Thomas. She did her own tax return and this book was invaluable for her. She said it would be useful for any business. It is not full of tax words. I should think it would have a bit on PPE, perhaps. It might be hand for other stuff and I am pretty sure it is cheap! I wouldn't suggest what limmy66 said. If your passion is tree work, why try and compete with the multitude of people that cut lawns. Tree work is a specialist role and market yourself correctly and you will have lots of work. If I was a layperson and wanted some advice for a precious tree on my property, I certainly wouldn't ask someone who was know for tree surgery, a bit of fencing and sometimes cuts the grass.
