  1. It looks like I may be getting a 10 ton Browns log splitter (tbc) does anyone have one or any experience with them?
  2. It is when u don't want 1!!!😃
  3. They have pestered me at least twice a year I would say even though I tell them I would never buy one and why each time.
  4. Yep the same chap has another couple I think on u tube.
  5. Yep I think I know the video you mean. I have never had an issue with my own Timberwolf chipper which I have had for 4 years, also most of the guys I work with have Timberwolfs and again no issues. I have friends who work for bigger companies who run Forsts, all have had issues!
  6. TW280 are great chippers! I hired a tracked one a couple of years ago and couldn't believe what it could handle.
  7. Picus test & blondes the perfect combo!!
  8. In situations like this the first course of action I would take once the area is safe, would be to get a Picuss test with relevant report recommendations. I would do this both for the good of the tree, insurance purposes now and in the future and general public safety reasons. Tree owners wanting to keep a tree doesn't mean its the right thing to do!
  9. I would say from the comments that the AA doesn't sound appealing. A few years back I was CHAS approved and I seem to remember a greater access to bidding contacts, however pretty sure I didn't really exploit that potential opportunity really.
  10. Interesting thread but could somebody please explain to me (as I sincerely don't understand) what happens once you have achieved the AA approval?
  11. Is almost never secretly never Mick??:)
  12. I bring home to my yard just the good stuff but I will say I love a bit of Pine wood (currently have loads), great firewood when seasoned. Conifer if the one I never bring home but to be honest only because it has a bad rep. It may be ok when seasoned who knows!
  13. I spoke to Fuelwood today and it looks like the AMR 12 ton splitter works well with the Avant, I guess Si you just purchased a Avant multi connector and there's hoses and it was ready to go?
  14. Thanks Si I will give them a call in the morning then! Yep the Avant firewood processor is not for me.
  15. Good to know perhaps I have done too much reading this weekend! The info I have found seems to suggest a higher flow is need for example on a Riko machine. My question is why dont Avant have a standalone splitter like yours Si or Micks? I know they have a few other modes but a simple splitter would be good and is a great asset.
  16. My loader has the following: Aux. hydraulics oil flow / pressure 44 l/min 200 bar Does anyone out there know if this is a good amount to run a log splitter from, these figures don't mean anything to me if I am honest. I am awaiting response to various enquires but thought I would put this out there!
  17. Great Mick thanks that saves some heavy lifting then something I am wanting to avoid!!
  18. Ps Looking forward to getting this costed and hoping I don't a horrible shock!!
  19. Mick is your log splitter base able to sit on the ground I notice it isn't in the picture? and I think I would need mine to be able to do so?
  20. Thanks I think I will go with the linkage idea and I also have contacted Mick's guy so hopefully will hear back and have a log splitter soon!!
