  1. Hello folks See if any of you have came across this before, I grinded out a stump today that been cross cut by a chainsaw. and I suppose they have tried to put in diesel or somethin in there to try and kill off this big stump. No success. And I grinded it out, and it for a while I thought I had a major hydraulic oil leak on the machine, the full grinding wheel was full of some fluid oil substance, and after much wondering I understood it must come from the tree stump. the machine was fine. I don't know if the customer been filling this stump with something. Or if it was from the tree stump itself. The full side of the grinding wheel was soaked with it, felt like the Greece you Greece your machine with. Best Regards Stefan
  2. I will check it up thank you
  3. I just posted this to see if there was any tree surgeons up that area perhaps wanted some stump grinding done. But didn't get that sort of reply, so what i'll do is I will post 3 weeks before I get there in the local papers, and pick up jobs that way.
  4. No she ain't a youngster, I see her everyday tho, and we spend a lot of quality time all of us movies, mini golf, out and about, dinners. It's a very friendly and lovely family I got.
  5. If you are really stuck I travel down but the fuel cost would run up.
  6. I spend a week up there anyway
  7. Thanks for the replies
  8. Thanks.... The part i'm going to weld on is the safety guard in the front, I did cut it off and made it bolted on, so I could take it off and reach in near fences and walls. But I have changed my mind and will weld it back on again. Mainly due to the annoying rattling sound it makes at times.
  9. I did reflect over it after, it's me being naive. Thinking the best of humanity. But if I leave the machine it wont be at my property.
  10. Hey folks I need to get some welding done on my stump grinder. Will this be alright ? it's remote controlled, so what i'm thinking, will this damage the electronics ?
  11. My fiancé is 50 and her daughter is 30, and to be around the two two of them is a pain even on a sunny day. love them to bits but I happen to have experience from Teneriffe when I took the scuba diving ticket and the two of them was there. And yes they do want to go on the Harry Potter train even the age they are. The mjod in Valhalla will freeze before I go on that train. We will be out on Loch Ness looking for the sea monster, perhaps even hire a boat. But I would just have liked taking the machine with me and go and have fun for a couple of days.
  12. The key to success is a positive mind, if you put your thought on something you will get it sooner or later. never give up ! Know what you want and go get it.
  13. It's exactly that scenario that i'm trying to avoid !
  14. Nothing sad about it, I spend time with them all other days the year. And I can't handle that moments of silence where it's no work to do. If they like to torture me then I can leave the machine at home.
  15. How about the future groundie sub contractor could come with a Vermeer log lifter ?
  16. Shhhh don't want anyone to know
  17. Hello folks ! I'm going on a holiday up to Loch Ness Between 11th and 18th of June. My fiancé will have her daughter with us, but that would leave me following them around to Harry Potter train and other things I have no need of experiencing. The dream scenario would be if there was some stump grinding up north I could be doing during the days. Please give me a shout if you feel for helping me in this dreadful situation. Best Regards Stefan Palokangas
  18. Sad to see all this folks getting victims of thieves. I spend a lot of thought on a theft scenario and have made it hard to move my items away from where they are.
  19. And remember to really clean the area before you attempt the repair, make the area as clean as you can, even use a grinder to get in to the shiny metal.
  20. Don't try and stick weld this, best option would be a tig, you could try and mig weld it but you get a lot of grinding job after it. With a tig you might just need to melt the carbon together and polish it after.
  21. Half of that post was for some reasons missing, and don't have time to add on to it, need out and load the machine on the van.. Thanks for the replies folks.
  22. Yes in tickets for ground chainsaw, and buy the chainsaws I need, specially a bigger one.small steps, avoid debt. I will spend this full year to upgrade. And I will enjoy every minute of this journey, it will lead to a great life style I'm sure.
  23. Holy cow ! Time goes fast, this is soon 2 years I been doing stump grinding. AND I'M LOVING IT MORE FOR EACH DAY ! Why I didn't start this like forever ago is a mystery ! The summer looks very promising and I think I'm actually going to upgrade to tree removals and selling logs. I mean I done trees since I was 12 year old, so it would be natural of me to start doing this. In a way I feel a little scared to take that step, if I do that I jump right in there and it wont be a way back. Tracked chipper / Tipper Van/Trailer, And the related taking down tree equipment. All the bills that comes with it. How if I took small baby steps, a van with no chipper, start taking down smaller trees, some hedge cutting..... give out the bigger trees to others. Or keep running the Tree stump removals till I got the money needed to buy all that cash.
  24. I tend to charge less for returning customers, Fencers / Shed builders / Landscapers / builders / golf courses / Tree Surgeons. But for private a bit higher. count how much your company cost a day, and spare parts, saving some procents for the next upgrade in chipper / digger / stump grinder / van / unimogs. You got insurance to pay for, a building perhaps ? Regularly you need to pay for tickets for all sorts. And add in a little something for the unknown, perhaps the van breaks down ? Or worse the Unimog. The hidden costs must be covered. As I said on the first line, count out your cost only you will know this.
