  1. So, upgraded my '79 Precision, new lightweight body and a sneaky Jazz pick up...
  2. Used to travel to Lakenheath in Norfolk as a young birder to see them in a Poplar plantation - few and far between these days...
  3. beauty!
  4. https://www.thoughtco.com/top-free-cad-packages-485330
  5. Never used it professionally but there is some freeware knocking about that can be adapted - most folks use Cad or similar which is big bucks and way out for most small companies... Worth searching previous posts I think (we can still do that presumably?!!)
  6. That'll do cheers Khriss!
  7. And before anyone asks yes I could but no I'm not getting involved!!!
  8. Hi all, genuinely asking for a friend current price for a pucker BS5837 Survey and Report? Also current price for Condition Survey? Context? 3 Mature trees in garden/road by boundary of fence line and one extension to property required...
  9. That's superb, can we have it on PDF?!!
  10. #bump#
  11. No plenty of big dogs though!!

I am surprised that they have never lifted the flags/ taken steps to further identify the problem and to check for any root presence. We would not do any work on the tree unless they could prove an actionable nuisance and it would also be down to the owners to get advice from a reputable Arb Consultant to prove any incursion, obviously if it was proved that we have been negligent then costs would be refundable via the Council Insurance Services.
  16. Done it and graduate this month - its hard work and lots of time out from family stuff - I did a full night and a weekend day and got through it, however I did have industry, lecturing and ecology experience and working as a TO for a local Authority. As for books you will get a list soon and most up to date stuff from Journals will be available to you online - all Modules have full Bibliographies supplied. A knowledge of Shigo and Mattheck wouldn't go amiss - also Rackham.
  17. Hornets are usually cool, gentle giants and will leave you to go about your day to day... Never stayed in a property in Normandy yet without a nest and never been bitten, and as for wasps? horrid things, hit them with spoons, tool of the devil etc. (Maybe I shouldn't be an ecologist...)
  18. Blimey Charlie - light the blue touch paper and walk swiftly away
  19. Theres an absolute raft of information regarding the Oak Processionary Moth and case history of how it has been managed and strategies tried to isolate its spread. A very different beast from the above...
  20. Hi all, simple one, I am looking to get a Team member on a Refresher for the above - any providers in the North West/ recommendations/horror stories welcome...
  21. There are a lot of different similar Ermine Moths with very specific host requirements - they can usually be identified to species level by this very fact...
  22. In relation to a TCA (Tree in a Conservation Area) you would need to go through the formal planning process and the LA could decide yes or no to permission, if they said no in general they would then serve a TPO on the tree - the onus is on them to do the checks.
  23. Is it in a TCA? Are there any TPO's on individual trees? What is the situation regarding ownership?
  24. Cheers, sometimes feel like the Cuckoo in the nest here... Great site though and full of very knowledgeable people and the occasional loon!!
  25. It's an interesting point that sometimes causes sleepless nights, but I would use the best tools available and make an informed decision, using VTA / QTRA methodology and over 30 years of experience, however if you look at case history the decision will be made in the courts and can only use expert witnesses to ascertain where the responsibilities lie (dependent obviously on why they are getting paid!) Also although I am quite loyal to the people who pay my wages, i would not back down on a decision that I knew was right and would suffer the consequences.
