  1. Running bowline 🙂. Really simple, no need for splices or krabs.

    Ladder

I found that out with our last tripod ladder, weighed very little but disintegrated within 3 years 👎
  3. Zip lining can create big forces. Best practice would say no but many people do it anyway. Why not practice and get good at tying the correct knots in the right applications? Short cuts can lead to less than good practices which in turn can lead to mistakes and problems. If you adopt a "how much can I get away with" mindset to rigging then at some point you could get caught out. Personally I think it's good to try and always give yourself a good safety margin. It's one thing to make the odd short cut however, these things can soon become habitual. to advise someone it's a good idea on a treework forum is another thing altogether Don't mean to come across as pedantic. Is using a chokered krab on a rigging line going to kill you straight away? Not likely but adopting that kind of approach to treework might end up biting you one day. Stay safe.
  4. More like Petzl insisting that you buy their expensive replacement lanyard rope. It's the same with the Zillon. If they were to be honest, it has little to do with the actual likelihood of an alternative rope brand failing. Again, it's how the product achieved its CE mark and EN numbers, as a combined unit. Teufelberger pretty much did the same thing with the CE lanyard.
  5. Nice crop! Did you grow it in your attic?
  6. TSI. Evesham (Tree scene investigation)
  7. Thanks Brendan, Rob Wells did the climbing/cutting. Like I said I'm still crocked with a broken foot. Can't wait to get back to work. Diaries looking healthy with some nice climbs to look forward to 👍👍
  8. I thought it looked great! In keeping with the street trees.
  9. Thanks Mick.. we've got someone coming in to mill it up. It's a bit of an experiment really. But we'll get some nice beams out of it. Can't take the credit apart from the photos. I'm still hobbling round on a broken foot making a nuisance of myself.
  10. Some snaps of the last couple of days. Part 2 of a big oak dismantle and fell in preparation for the stem to be milled this weekend. Also a lime crown reduction

    Look out.

No you're thinking of the cockney cowboys..
  12. Had my 560 2 years and the pot and piston got scored. Dealer arranged new Ines on warranty with no hassle. If I get another 2 years out of it I'll be well happy!
  13. Is it someone who knows you? The fact that they only left the broken saw raises a question mark?? Similar thing happened to us. One of our staff left (poorly)in the middle of a job, two weeks later our container got cleaned out.... apart from the machines that didn't work. It didn't take Sherlock Holmes to work it out.
  14. Started off with a bike and a silky, now look at you! Never despise the day of small beginnings... 😎. You've got all the toys now......
  15. I hope that's not experience talking!
  16. Ouch! Hope you heal up soon.
  17. Nice, the leg loops look like they might cut in a bit though.
  18. Thanks. Very comfy harness. tried one last APF Didn't like the Wickes blue poly looking rope bridge! You can see it either end of the outer sheath. 👍
  19. Tell me more! I'm all ears 😊
  20. Sequoia is definitely on my radar but I haven't made the SRT switch yet. One thing that puts me off is the yellow push button clips. I've LOLERed a few and noticed they can come undone if twisted (probably never happen when climbing tho. ) Thanks. 👍
  21. My treemotion is about to be retired and I wondered if anyone has moved on from one to something else? I like the comfort of it and I really like the lower D's as well. Just wondered if anyone has any comparisons or reviews of the many alternatives out there. Thanks
  22. I bet that rips 👍
  23. I bought it because it was developed especially for mechanical devices. I found it quite bouncy at first and really hard to grip when wet. Now it's worn a bit it is much better in the hand and it does tend really well.
  24. I took it to be prolonged use and bigger timber. 560 is my everyday groundsaw on 18" I wouldn't want to go smaller for heavy work. Unless I got my 346 ported like yours 👍
  25. I've got the venom on a ZZ. I didn't like it at first when it was new. Now it's worn a bit Its a lot better. Not sure about 6ft self tending though! Having said that It does tend sooner than other ropes I've had. E.g. limelite and aeris (which is technically 0.5mm too thin for a ZZ.
