  2. There seems to be a problem in the industry. I think its down to a general lack of experience (my opinion only) and offering £750 a week is freaking people out...£750 may seem to some people like a high pressure job and you are met with reluctance and inexperience. Advertise a chipper op job or groundsman at the same amount per week and see what happens ? You wont struggle to fill the position. Again (in my opinion) anyone who has experience and willing to work a normal week and do a few extra hours, push the job, make things happen etc, etc, already has the job you are advertising. Not sure what the answer is, but know what you are up against. Good Luck though.

  11. Not good, probably parked up in a wood somewhere for a few days. You got a tracker on it or the truck ? Just put them on my g/mechs, vans pick ups and trailers as things are **** down south at moment....just a matter of time...worth the money.
  12. thinning is about cutting, small trees, removing brush and clearing paths and brush in order to get a better crop at the end and at second thinning so piece work should be used. * Think you'll find you are wrong, 1st thinning is removing the smaller trees (not scrub or brush) from a planted crop in order to allow light which generates growth on the remaining trees. Don't think the FC would pay you to clear scrub and paths as a means of 1st thinning. Used to get £12.00 per tonne 15 years ago to do 1st thinnings, didn't make any fortunes, but would have made even less cutting scrub and brush or clearing pathways on £12.00 per tonne
  13. Send the nasties round in the wee small hours for a persuasive chat .... only cost a few hundred but will probably sort the problem....
