  1. I’m definitely the least accomplished musician in the family. Just about managed to keep up.
  2. Had the pleasure of playing drums with my uncle’s band on his 80th birthday... was a real blast despite the weather....
  3. This tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about the plight of ordinary Palestinians.

  5. A nitty little ditty.... serious skills going on there.

    Jokes???

I thought his funfair was in Wendsbury.
  7. Sounds like a great set up Stubby, bet it sounds ace. I love vintage hifi gear.. there’s something really ‘raw and authentic’ about the sound. I have a Quad 303/33 pre-amp and power amp (which was the model made after the valve stuff) driving some Acoustic Research AR3a‘ improved’ along with some smaller vintage Sony’s (which were actually made by Bowers & Wilkins) The sources I have are a Meridian 506 CD player and a Technics SL110 deck. 60’s, 70’s, 80’s & 90’s equipment still sounding great. The Quad is due a factory service to make it really ‘sparkle’ again. The big AR speakers need the foam surrounds replaced, which are coming from the US. I have a more modern set up in the living room, but this is in the ‘cave’ where I can push the levels.
  8. I think I’ve sussed it.... you’re Lily Allen aren’t you?!
  9. RIP Prince Phillip. He’ll be missed. He put others first, which is quite rare today.
  10. If I’m ever running the ropes, I’ll use a cheap rubber building glove on one hand and a good quality leather glove on the other hand. That way I can grip properly when needed and can also let the rope run quickly as well. Best of both worlds with great control. As long as they are of reasonable quality I’ve never gotten hung up on branding as they are going to wear out pretty quickly whatever name is on them.
  11. Surely you’re not suggesting the Guardian is lacking in integrity when it comes to reporting facts that are ‘inconvenient’.
  12. Limbs off on the way up, top out then section down. I’m with Mark, as I hate the feeling of ‘open space syndrome’. Much prefer the comfort that having lots of branches round me brings, but I never seem to get a good rhythm going that way. Didn’t rig this as it was dead and the wind was in the right direction for the top. (Apologies for not shaving the stubs flush [emoji51]) It would be interesting to know the physics of whether leaving some limbs to dissipate the rocking V leaving less weight. Guess it depends a lot on species and condition of the tree.
  13. 18” is good on the 560. Used to run a 28” on the 576 but it was a bit laboured. 24” works nicely.
