  1. Intrestingly enought this was also a marketing thing, dont laught but it was supposed to look more aggresive, i steam cleaned one once and it went straight back to the magnesium looked a proper mess, the 555 in orange looks so much better.
  2. The Mondo/Mondo max/ and Mondo Mega were all entry level machines from the Poulon factory, the fact that there are still machines about would suggest in the right application they were not that bad, no they were not great but hey you got to love the colour, the marketing dept did a survey to see what colour people liked best, must be a Swedish thing.
  3. Always willing to learn what is an onsert ?
  4. K650 now your talking, mark11 or an active?
  5. The material is. pretty hard and taps quite well
  6. Oh a Husqvarna Mondo, i have repaired many of these, use a heli coil tap and fit a 5mm heli coil insert, then all you need is a 5mm screw
  7. You can change the chain brake for the non tooless one, it is readily available, as for tuning it, it is only a semi pro/home owner saw.
  8. I would go along with a Jonsered 75
  9. Puttimg the 562XP air filter onto the 560xp and hey presto there is a power increase so the comments made are quite correct.
  10. Air injection, turbo, active air filteration does not force air into the carb space and does not increase power, it only pre cleans the air before being drawn into the carb space by the carb.
  11. These carbs are prety reliable, check other things before fitting a new carb, dirty fuel filter in tank, split cracked fuel hose, impulse hose cracked or not connected, piston condition, clean and rebuild carb with new diaphrams, tank breather.
  12. To build a saw from new spare parts would be way beyond the price of a new complete saw, a doner saw is the way to go, it depends on what you intend to do with it once done as to the saw you pick, may be a Husqvarna 254 or 262, or maybe a 281/288, a little 61 would be quite nice, or a little more modern a 357 or 346
  13. Yes i have seen plenty of these, some have gone clean through the oil tank, users just cant understand where all the oil is coming from, comes as a snock when they see the repair bill.
  14. That appears to be the correct carb for this year model.
  15. The black frame filter is 80 micron ( winter filter ) and should not be used on dusty timber, the tellow filter is 44 micron and should be used in the UK, the smaller the micron size the greater the filtering capacity
  16. the heart of any power cutter is the filtration system, that thing looks like it wont last five minutes when the dust starts flying.
  17. Well your part no. is correct.these springs are a little easier to fit as the shoes are open at the back.
  18. The 560 band originely had a slot cut out of the band close to the knee link joint, this weakened the band and this is where it breaks, this was part no. 505199501, the slot has now been taken away and the part no. changed to 505199502.
  19. What the hell is he on??????????
  20. There is nothing really to break, the pump shaft is steel with a flat on the end, i just cant imagine it would snap, you can take it out by removing the steel pin and removing the adjuster screw
  21. Muffler gasket on what? Not sure what Christmas break is at Aycliffe.
  22. I need to check if it has a ignition govenor, i thought it did, by the way i do understand all the principles of how a carb works, even the compensator on the carb. I need to speak to my auto tune specialist to see just how it will react with a ported cylinder,
  23. You need to check all the components, check the nylon worm gear fite snug in the back of the sprocket and the sprocket can turn it, check the condition of the nylon worm gear any sign of flat spots change it, remove the pump and pipe, the pump barrel should be a snug fit in the rubber block to make a seal to the pick up and delivery side of the pump, check the pick up side of the pipe is no damaged, split or collapsed, turn the pump gear with your finger there should be some sign of oil movment, sqirt some oil into the pump inlet side, turn shaft with a finger again the oil should come through to the delivery side, if not, turn the pump shaft and make sure it has a throw as well as turning ( move back and forth ) regardless of what some people think it is a good saw.
  24. Surley more power means more fuel, auto tune only has one jet into both high and low and will only allow so much fuel in, it also has a govenor, i am not so sure porting is going to increase power just alter the power curve, still i would like to hear your findings.
  25. Eddy, i think i must have missed somthing here, are you saying you are going to port a 560XP? if so how are you goin to get more fuel into it as this is controlled by the auto tune unit.
