  1. I still want to know why it does not run, it could be something really simple, don’t just write it off, let’s get this thing running, it’s a challenge now.
  2. They finally did something about those awful caps then, many a pair of chainsaw trousers plastered in chain oil.
  3. I hear what you say about the plug being dry, however these machines are very prone to ignition unit failures. Other things to check, purge pipes connected up correctly ( short pipe on the purge bulb is suction so goes to the carb, the longer tube on the purge bulb is pressure so goes back to tank ) next check the twin induction pipe, this also incorporates the impulse pipe, check this has not collapsed and is blocked, next lack of compression due to the ring being carboned into the piston, finally spark arrestor blocked.
  4. Husqvarna do a chain.
  5. One quick comment, the wall between the carb and the cylinder is missing, this will cause all sorts of hot starting/running issues.
  6. That is the same as the Husqvarna 435,so remove the red stop switch, remove both purge bulb pipes, press the bayonet sides in of the purge bulb in and pop it out, to remove the throttle rod you need to press and lift up the small plastic bracket the rod slides through ( hard to describe it, but it just lifts up to release the rod ) remove the three screws holding the carb, unhook the filter housing from the securing rubber, remove the carb with the throttle rod still attaced to it.

These are fairly simple, so the wire from the generator goes to the white plastic housing on the crankcase, here it connects with a self tapping screw to one of the wires from the top handle, the other wire from the top handle then goes to one side of the rear handle heating element, the elements join together via the fixing screws, there is then a short wire from the other rear handle element to the switch, the switch is earned to the crankcase wit a self tapping screw.

    Husky 45

    45cc clamshell engine aimed at the farmer market, bigger brother of the 40, Jonsered did a 50cc version, 145psi is reasonable, if as you say it starts, runs, and idles ok why are you worried about it? Might be interesting to see some pictures of the piston through the open exhaust port.
  9. Back to basics, has the pump shaft got a throw? ( reciprocate ) when you rotate the shaft it should move in and out to create a throw, no throw no oil!
  10. Not a Stihl lover but the ones I have seen have the crank so badly worn the sprocket drum recess comes away from the pump actuating arm so does not turn it, so no oil.
  11. So let’s try again.
  12. It’s not a problem, I just want to see the finished product, always had a soft spot for Jonsered/ Jonsereds.
  13. I will check tomorrow, it’s been in and out of the saw like a fiddlers elbow, I will take a pic of the spring as well.

As Spud said, order a new air filter and try it again if it’s the orange frame filter, if not fuel tank breather? fuel filter in the tank dirty? and finally main bearing cage breaking up and torn the crank seal, check the spark arrestor to see if there is some strange melted stuff in it, what ever you find I would get this checked out if you can find somebody capable to diagnose it.
  15. It was in for a service, see what I mean about lack of maintenance. Anyway do not forget there in an opening in the base to house the spring.

The 550 mk 11 is undoubtedly the best saw out there, all machines are mechanical and can have issues, all modern saws have changed greatly from saws only a few years ago, it started with lower vibration, so av mounts will not last as long, then emissions, so this had to be lowered with cylinder design, auto tune, fuel injection, operators want lighter machines, so components are made lighter, we want faster acceleration, so smaller flywheels causing hotter running engines, then throw into the mix poor quality fuel, and dare I say insufficient maintenance by operators, we can all say saws used to last longer, but there wasn’t all the restraints then that has to be built in todays machines, now onto battery machines thank the lord retirement is looming.

They still use the composite bearing cages, and seal pressed into the bearing itself, the bearing is an SKF bearing and there has been many improvements to the cage material, this all assuming the bearings on your saw have collapsed, the 560/562 also have the same bearings, the mk11/111 has a different supplier for the bearing.
  22. There will be a very good reason why this saw does not run after you rebuilt it ( assuming it ran before ) so did you re seal the bottom end with gasket cement? did you align the flywheel key in the crank properly, have you kinked the fuel hose? have you re connected the purge hose and fuel hose in the right orientation? is the air gap between ignition unit and flywheel correct 0.3mm, even if you intend to sell it it will be worth more as a running saw, as for a replacement do not right off another Husqvarna, look at 435 or 545 if you want to spend more money.
