  1. No, blew countless motors to pieces, then the bull bar fell off, then the electrics packed up, then the front outriggers fell off, then the electrics packed up, then the rear chassis member fell off then the electrics packed up again. Saw the light and bought jap. Tows a tiny bit less, but hey, it stays dry inside, warm, comfortable, you can shut the door without having to wind window down, quiet so you can actually hear the radio, quicker, more efficent, more reliable, cheaper to run. only bad thing is it doesnt have rovers patent self preservation system, ie it doesnt puke oil out of everywhere to hold back the rust, slightly.
  2. Barrie at garden kit. Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge. Fair play to you. You have obviously been doing this for a while as you are an absolute oracle of information. If i wasnt so far from you i would just bring it down and say here you go, as you sure sound as if you know your stuff. I havent had a tweak yet as been too busy as work but will let you know results.
  3. Cant beat a stick welder with a properly prepped joint. I like to use high dep rods as you can get it in there hotter and faster.
  4. Fit lots of v.orlandi hitches and used to use jbg's but wouldnt recomend jbg for anything other than smooth road use. Welds are getting worse, if drawing says 6mm throat depth and the throat of the weld is 6mm it passes. The fact that it was put in by a moron with a gasless hobby mig is irrelevant. A lot of commercial stuff is welded to a set time and price, not a quality.
  5. May as well put terry wogan on there, that will proper cripple the good old beeb.
  6. You have got to be kidding, surely?
  7. Is garden kit in tonight? Remember i asked you about my hayter 12/30, well deck is prepped with black waxoil, new blade and going to check blade levelness. Well i adjusted the throttle cable as we said about the other day, choke works fine now but it seems a bit hesitant when throttle opened. Presumably i need to adjust a screw on carb? Any idea which one as it doesnt really say on the nanual i downloaded. Many thanks
  8. It will run it, just be slow and not as powerful as maybe it could be.
  9. Other pipe possibly trailer tip or a spool slice so less oil. Depends how much pressure you need, how much flow, how big the ram you intend to drive, how much force you intend to exert, how quick a cycle time you expect. Good tractors for what they are, a good 3 cylinder should start first piston up every time no matter how cold without heat. Is that one got a clutch or power shuttle? If clutch, watch for noisy release bearing. Check front axle pivots and king pins as usually under greased and worn out. Avoid older multi power models as its just wrong, -£1000 for multi power.
  10. Total flow to loader is 19 gal/min, flat out!
  11. The auxiliary hydraulic pump is not only made for the Massey Ferguson 30E industrial/construction machine, but also fits the Massey Ferguson 20E, 165, 175, 180, 235, 245, 255, 265, 290, 1080, 1085, 250, 270, 275, 699, 285, 690, 283, 670, 253, 298, 135 UK, 698, 263, 251XE, and 451. So, 13 gal/min @ 2500psi or 49ltr/min @ 172 bar
  12. Think its just a 242 ag tractor with a loader. Theyre alright for an old 2wd tractor. Were you going to plumb straight to tractor hydraulics or go pto pump?
  13. Clarkson is epic. He has the balls to say what everyone else is thinking. Actually, axe him, i will have his job. Living the dream.
  14. Garden kit. Fair play to you. Busy man. Wouldnt it be better to service them before winter storage?
  15. Gardenkit, you are a mind of knowledge on such things. I think i have some black waxoyl about as i think thats what i use on the sills of my van. Not really into sand blasting as it tends to get sand in orifices its not welcome. I quite like the wire brush on the grinder. So a power wire brush and black waxoyl it is then.
  16. Afternoon, Thanks gardenkit i adjusted my choke setting this orning much better, many thanks. Just about to put the deck back on as it comes off every winter, just wondering if there is anything to paint on bottom to help preserve it. I usually use oil or a load of cheap primer, depends what is to hand usually. Does anyone use waxoil or underseal or recomend anything else, or is it best left bare.
  17. Thank you gentlemen. I thought it would be something simple as it used to work well. I will have a play tomorrow and see what happens. I found a sticker on the back that says max 3100rpm. I found out something you might be find handy this week. My starter motor was getting lazy and making noises and smells, brushes worn out. You can get a brush kit ready built with the back plate and terminal all ready to slip on for £13. Good old Ebay.
  18. Problem is with twin tanks you need a tap in the fuel return line as well otherwise it would just mix in tank anyway. I have heard some people fill the original tank with white and pull the pipes off, however there is a hidden tank somewhere full of red, so if you get stopped and dipped it shows white. Medium roof transits are great, slave tank above the cab with fuel pipes running down the inside of the bulkhead, or so my mate said
  19. Evening all, hows it going? I see on here the other day there was a picture of a hayter 12/30, well i have one for doing the rough stuff but i have a question. Does anyone know how to adjust the choke? Last season when you pushed the throttle all the way forward it would bring the choke on, now it starts to push the lever over but doesnt quite make it. The cable moves free enough and all linkages are free moving. To start engine if you give the choke lever a tiny poke it goes over and starts. Not the end of the world but annoying. Many thanks
  20. Re, openspaceman. I think they trailered it up behind the disco, however i believe it was private land, ie a farmer owned the field, however if the public have access rta rules apply. Also the old vintage tractor run road boys are supposed to run white.
  21. Does it have to be monkey metal? Would it not be possible to fabricate one out of steel?
  22. Even if it is fitted with three point linkage and pto, and is clearly ag, dont be fooled. Some of my uncles mates got done at a ploughing match for running cherry. Even though ploughing is agricultural thing to do its not deemed as ag. It has to be "farming" I am aware you can buy a can of additive to put in red, which removes water, settles sediment, libricates pumps etc etc etc but inadversantly turns the red dye a very light green, obviously i wouldnt use it on the road, your honour.
  23. Massey 8600, cheaper than the fendt and valtra, but better. Claas, a green renault, really? Oh deere. Head gasket is a service item. Our family have run masseys for over forty years, no problems.
  24. Ok, comes in four sizes, measure across the tops of two points, ie the widest part of the outer shaft and hopefully should measure 30, 41, 48 or 61mm. Available in usually up to 3m lengths, usually held into yoke by a roll pin. Beat roll pin out and pull shaft out. Grind a taper on end of shaft before fitting new tube to yoke, and dont forget to grease shafts before sliding together.
