  1. I had one of these for a torn meniscal cartilage about six years ago. Best get it done ASAP so that it doesn't get too arthritic. I paid for mine as I would have had to wait eighteen months to get it done on the NHS by which time it would definitely have been arthritic. Best exercise is to build up your knee muscles, especially your quadriceps. Sand filled cuffs around your ankle and do leg raises while watching the TV. Mine is really good now and I have trouble remembering which leg it was. Six weeks until it's better.
  2. Nothing wrong with them as a saw, but why do you keep buying saws and not fixing them. I have a 038 with lots of bits available including a good pot and piston. It's a good reliable saw when you rebuild it properly. Unless the flea bay seller has a reputation (i.e. Good feedback for selling saws) don't buy them.
  3. Cheers Mr. B! Just got my super rigging pulley, very useful....
  4. Well done Steve! Loads more of unappreciated hard work!
  5. Should anyone find themselves with too many tools, Tools for Self Reliance Cymru would like them at our Crickhowell workshop. We send carpenters', shoemakers', blacksmiths', bicycle menders' and tin smiths' kits to Tanzania for rural artisans to improve their lives. Details available by pm. We also sell lots of green woodworkers tools- try us first!
  6. Absolutely! Get yourself a little magnifying glass so you can check while your learning. It's all about the corner. Merry Christmas to you all on this great site, especially Mr Bullman!
  7. Merry Christmas and good luck with it Steve! Hope this doesn't mean visits from the "no fixed aboders" now they know you'll be full of saws!
  8. Check the plate to see how many watts it's rated at. Then get a generator that puts out a bit more.
  9. I used one of these the other day, on an 023 as a matter of fact. Don't think they're available aftermarket but a Stihl dealer should be able to get one. Not very expensive, for a change.
  10. That's a great saw! Love mine and only paid £35 for it. Clean properly every time you use and it will see you out!
  11. I've got one of these, it works very well. It's all metal and I haven't had any trouble with it at all. Cost about 27 quid,I think, about two years ago.
  12. No doUBt you'LL HaVe yourChoiCe of large Butts when You'Re that famouS Jon!
  13. I have the Faithful one. The key thing with these is to be gentle, it's very easy to cook a tooth, the lightest shave is best.
  14. I did a 365 to 372 conversion with a Hyway set from Sawbits. The ports needed a little finishing but the barrel was fine. Try one of those.
  15. I have discovered a suitable pic to offer my sympathies to those unfortunate enough to have been spawned on the wrong side of Offa's Dyke........
  16. If it's an 038 super it will need a 50mm piston.
  17. P.S. Don't forget to find out why that happened before running the rebuild!
  18. That piston is well stuffed. You may be able to save the barrel by removing the aluminium build up from the piston. Tons of info on this in Spud's "What's on your bench today" thread. Remember to fit a Meteor piston as replacement, they are as good as the originals.
  19. Hi Arbtalk members who are going, Don't forget to visit "Tool for Self-Reliance" in the Craft Field. Lots of nice old tools and a friendly welcome!
  20. If the new hole's 8mm, you could look for a bit of alloy tube to glue in as a sleeve and then use Spud's nut and bolt suggestion.
  21. Came across an embarrassing piccie of TGB today....
  22. I had this problem with a 260. If you have drilled the broken bit out carefully, you should be able to tap it to 5mm, get a new bolt and cup washer, knock out the bolt and drill the washer to 5mm. Fit 5mm bolt of same length. Sorted!
