  1. I’ve got a similar scar. I’m surprised Silky don’t do a wrist guard; perhaps there’s a market for some enterprising designer.
  2. Carved a good few years ago now, from a wind-blown Oak.
  3. Lots of toys and a BIG sand pit to play in: just the job.
  4. Hell, I’ve lost some time looking at that website; what a fantastic resource. Thanks for posting.
  5. I believe William Cobbet MP thought he might make money out of Robina back in the 18th C. I don’t think it went to plan. There’s no denying they make useful timber mind.
  6. I would say it might need plenty of attention to persuade it to form a single, straight stem, because that doesn’t seem to be its natural habit.
  7. 1.2m for roe: a standard size from tubes etc. Sometimes I use chicken wire.
  8. I think you’re being far too pessimistic there; Oak is not as slow as you might think. I’ve planted hundreds of them, but always as trees.
  9. But as Mark says, Oak also holds on to dead leaves. I’m surprised not to have ever seen one: Oak’s got to make for an interesting, wildlife friendly hedge
  10. I guess I’ll just have to give it a go then. Thanks.
  11. Has anyone ever seen an English Oak hedge? I can’t see why Oak shouldn’t make a decent hedge, similar to beech, but as I’ve never seen one, I guess it doesn’t work.
  12. Trouble is......... it grows on trees.
  13. That’s a good size and worth milling. Hawthorn will make good carving wood, and will turn nicely too. It is pretty featureless though.
  14. It is now more difficult than ever to claim adverse possession, as indeed it should be: if it’s not your property, then keep out and show some respect!
  15. Would you go for the shorter stick if fitting a tilty Eddie?
  16. I would of thought it’s worth no more than firewood, anything that isn’t rotten could be full of worm. Shame it wasn’t got sooner.
  17. Yes, I don’t think I’d fancy a grass cutter on the back. The BCS Valiant 600 AR (49hp) is available with reverse steer.
  18. Surely if your cutting in reverse drive, with the mower in front of you, then that’s the perfect setup?
  19. That’s something worth considering; diff locks are good! what about manoeuvrability; lm assuming the articulated version turns tighter, but is the difference significant? I’m considering an alpine with reverse steer as I do a lot of grass cutting. I’m thinking that articulated steering would be an advantage as front and rear wheels follow one another, so you don’t have to worry about what the rearmost wheels are doing.
  20. Certainly looks the business. Is it front steer, or articulated?
  21. Does the cab tilt back? You could end up with some serious neck strain there!
