  1. Fair point , it looks as if this may be the case
  2. A decent bit of stuff after being put through the Palax and some which will be put through the Fiskars so to speak .....
  3. Hi , i have a KS 350 ergo processor . Purchased it secondhand , little use . So far so good , im very impressed despite a lot of guys telling me circular saw types were the only way to go . Trouble is there are a couple of areas with rust on them . The red on the end of the conveyor and the grey at the very bottom on the stands . Im wondering where id get paint to touch it up , its localised enough luckily but annoying !. Id say an aerosol and hard sanding and priming would do it but i will get it touched up by a pro if i have to . Is there any specific RAL or shade ? , it almost looks like a Massey Ferguson paint scheme .
  4. Well , i got a load and might take another . Exactly as ye said . Thanks for the feedback .
  5. Simple as the title really . As long as im in this game i have never really come across any more than the occasional small tree . And i cant remember ever burning it . Looking at all the firewood processor promotional videos its very popular/common in the scandinavian countries obviously . Theres some after growing into a plantation im looking at and im wondering what sort of firewood it will make either mixed or on its own .
  6. I might have a bit but its unlikely to be much use to u in Ireland !!! , maybe you could fill me in though , is it much use for firewood ? . I hadnt even thought of it especially as this stuff is massive and way oversize for processor . Aside from firewood ,Id actually say theres a couple of loads of really good sawlog and a load of average stuff . I know prices vary a lot but as an indication whats it worh roadside in the uk.
  7. If thats mechanically good you should hold onto it . Had a couple back in the day and despite massive usage they really stood up to the work . Id have a 16 inch bar on at spruce for months and switch to a 20 inch for elm during the Dutch elm disease carnage . Id say i wore out a dozen bars on each saw and they were both still going well enough to sell on . You hit the nail on the head with keeping it for a back up saw .
  8. A load ready for home .... processed the old fashioned way . lets just say spuds 460 has been busy .
  9. Good looking system , would i be right in noticing that an old Fastrac of yours being restored was on the most recent classic tractor magazine ?
  10. Ireland , its on RTE as you can see on the top of one pic . I think its a northern Irish production company .
  11. A couple of me at a large Beech The pics are off the TV screen as there was a documentary being made about the local stately home we were working in . Theres an organic garden and greenhouse going under where the tree was .
  12. That much I'm not sure of either I have to admit
  13. No coolant loss or contamination by the looks of it , I'm not sure about the egr I have to admit , no hissing sound either .
  14. Have to say ive usually got top class advice every time ive posted on here .So here goes I have a 01 Landcruiser D4D , 163 K miles ,driving well, pulling well (see overloaded thread ) except for eye watering diesel consumption .Of late it seems to have the most unusual problem . At certain times nearly always at 55-60 mph in motorway driving the temp gauge starts to climb , I haven't let it get near the red and bring the gauge down by turning on the heater full blast inside . It never rises in traffic and the presence of the trailer no matter how heavily laden doesent seem to make any difference . Ive changed the thermostat and flushed the radiator but to no avail. Maybe I'm being optimistic but I don't think its the head gasket and as many D4D cruisers as there are around ive never heard of them giving head trouble . Any ideas ?
  15. One thing worth looking at is the level of deformation in secondhand ones , in my experience they can be a bit of false economy when they get to a certain point . Nice new rigid sided bags hold exactly their designed volume , stretched baggy old bags wont be long taking 5 or 10 Quids extra worth of timber on you .....
  16. The last time I posted about this it seemed to produce a bizarre reaction from certain members on this forum but there was an unprecedented display of secondhand pro stuff there today almost all Stihl . Some guys seemed to believe that they could be legitimate the last time , well there were at least 6 x 660s and probably 15 other pro saws there along with backpack blowers , pole saws etc . Maybe its just me but I find it unlikely that you would assemble that amount of well maintained but used pro stuff in one deal . I don't know if any other ROI posters noticed it , it was hard to miss . He had around 2-300 electric power tools . One of the other traders told me they were dropped by a pair of vans and the vans then drove off site . I hadn't seen them since the last time I posted and apparently they has been raided by the Garda (Irish police) probably the motivation for the vans off site ploy . I really hope theyre not the results of some of the crimes mentioned here but id fear its naiive not to think so to be honest . At least they didn't seem to be doing much or any business . Just my observations not looking for the yokel amateur lynch mob mentality that erupted the last time .
  17. Im looking at buying an old low cost tractor for running the processor and a splitter . A mechanic friend of mine said stick to Massey or Ford as the back ends are fairly bullet proof on your average older one . I think its good advice , trouble is ive looked at a few and theyre either complete wrecks or restored and guys are putting big prices on them . Anything genuine in between is really scarce . Ive seen an international 475 locally , looks ok , sounds good . Anyone know anything about them , will i be able to drive the splitter directly off its hydraulics ??
  18. Tidy setup there , is it a 20e ?
  19. Thanks very much for the feedback guys excellent as usual . Until i catch up wit the guy who does my auto electrics i probably may just buy a battery . The one in it is 320 mm x 220 mm x 160 mm with threaded poles , anyone know what these are called (as in type of battery ) , and is there a reason they havent normal terminals ?
  20. Hi , ive got a few good (and money saving !) tips on here by times . The battery on my Ifor 12 x 6 6 tipper is gone , obviously if i go to an Ifor dealer i will pay top whack . What commercial or agricultural battery would do the same job , or can it be wired to tip directly from the jeep . Truth be told it has never been impressive on the tipping front , it would struggle with 1.5 Tonne , is this the norm ?
  21. Fairly sickening to put it mildly , that stuff will stand out a mile to anyone in the game . I hope no one stoops to buying it . Itll be a bit raw for a while but stick with it .
  22. I never use helmet mounted muffs anymore , even the most expensive ones never seem to give proper sound attenuation . I use Peltor rear banded ones , designed to be worn with a helmet , theyve a velcro strap that goes under the helmet . The black and red ones i believe are the highest level of protection generally available , seem to work well for me .
  23. Happened to be in a Stihl dealers today Steve, the guy who runs it told me everything he sells is having the puchasers name programmed in for the last year or so . Says the demand is strong for the service .
  24. Yeah , not loving the attitude of a couple of guys here at the moment . What was your offence ?
