  1. Awesome , aside from the stuff you were doing , the way its edited is excellent .
  2. Hi I just noticed an 051 for sale on the Irish online sales site "done deal" , dont know how to post a link . It looks like a good saw , theres a donor saw with it and interestingly it has a chainbrake ,something ive never seen before. Its nothing to do with me , just thought somebody on here might be interested , fairly fresh looking 254 and 372 as well .
  3. Im just wondering if its possible to buy the pressing part of Ifor sides(ie rivet on your own brackets) . Ive seen it done in ifor dealers on reconditioned trailers . Alternatively , i wonder if it would be possible for a sheet metal fabricator to straighten out my own ....anyone ever got it done ?
  4. Glad to hear it , cos im looking around for an 064 /066 , ms 660 or similar sized husqy for you to breathe your magic on ... hopefully :001_smile:
  5. Any videos of the 066 Steve ? , is she your own ?
  6. Well lads , anything stirring ? , i see a massive pruning job going on near Newbridge , road closed for a week and all . Patrick
  7. I havent been online in a while guys so an update : The handle came into the dealers Last Monday That makes it 7 working weeks or therabouts the saw was out of action . As wyk mentioned there were 261s in stock and i suggested a handle swop but just as with the loan saw request absolutely no customer assistance whatsoever . The 441 anti vibe went again , (around 11 months old ) and while at least the dealer stood by it he said stihl would not cover it again and "i must be using it wrong" . That actually pissed me off nearly as much as the 261 !! . The only way i could concievably damage them intentionally was to really force it with a blunt chain or rip it when its pinched . As anyone knows whos at the timber game for their living you take a bit of pride in your sharpening ability and have the sense to treat a thousand euros worth of kit with a bit of respect . The real problem id say is that its on a 25inch bar in fairly dry hardwood all the time , when i bought it i didnt envisage coming across as much big stuff and thought it would mainly be on an 18 or 20 inch . The 25 inch is listed as compatible though .
  8. The front handle , not an obscure item one would imagine .
  9. Good name there Mulla , stereotyping of Wickla men though ?!
  10. Oh i asked straight out and got fairly aggro about it , various excuses ranging from they wouldnt be insured to eventually admitting they hadnt go a back up one .
  11. Lol , i was thinking ... either that or GAA ?! . Really ?, ive heard its very good alright .
  12. Ah yeah , i knew the timber stuff isnt too high on the agenda at the ploughing ,met a couple of climbers at the last one though . No , wasnt there . Howd you get the Kildare bit ? , where are you from yourself ?
  13. To be honest Husqy arent really any better in my experience , there are very few serious 2 stroke specialists around who deliver consistantly good work . Id say the majority of the good ones are on here , better stop giving compliments or spud will rise his prices !! .
  14. Hi Just wondering is anyone on here going to the Irish ploughing championships in September . I know they usually have a decent forestry / climbing section . There were a fair few climbers at the forestry show in Birr a couple of years ago . Possibly some of the guys off here ?.
  15. Fair point and its heading that direction , but i do expect a Stihl professional or Husqy XP to be fit for purpose and durable .
  16. Ive had an MS 261 laid up for over 5 weeks now waiting tor a part which the dealer tells me hasnt arrived yet . The saw is only 5 months old and and a seperate electronic issue led to it stopping dead after around 10 tanks and it needing work which took 3 weeks . This essentially means for 40 % of the time ive had the saw it cant be used , no doubt the saw should last decades at this rate !! . I wonder is this a cunning plan by Stihl to extend the lifespan of their products ???!! . On a serious note it is f...ing seriously annoying , if this is what passes for customer service from the dealer / manufacturer you would have to wonder what direction theyre going .
  17. I will second that , in the space of a few months this site has put me in contact with my new insurers ,put me in contact with the master saw builder aka spud , opened my eyes to the Fiskars X 27 (now have 2) , Got me a few enquiries on a defender we were selling and put me in contact with a few tree surgeons who i hope to buy firewood off . That is all aside from the general good feeling and sense of fraternity you get being logged in , and the humanity sometimes shown to those who arent maybe having the best of times .
  18. Whatever about discrepancies , i got a few chains ground in a dealers yesterday . Id usually never need to but various nails ,stones crows nests and barbed wire had taken its toll. He really took his time and kept them cooled and the job was excellent . Faster than new even in dryish beech . The guy is Philip Jones in Tommy Doyles of Baltinglass and id have no problem reccomending him . Between the chains and the 357 spud ported for me im really upping productivity .Id imagine that theres no other ported 357s in Ireland ?. Ive used a fair few saws in my time , but nothing with the barely controlled aggression of this , id imagine its more powerful than a stock 560 ?
  19. No , youre not the only one ...i do exactly the same on a badly mangled chain !!
  20. Well ,every cloud may have a silver lining... the aforementioned 357 has been rebuilt and ported by Spud . First impression is awesome...
  21. Look , no offence taken , if your half Irish youll be familiar with our trait of being occasionally sensitive to these things . And i was thinking there may have been an element of banter in it .
  22. Not being overly sensitive but there are a few Irish blokes on here , myself included .I wouldnt be gone on your bit of casual racism there my good man .
