  1. My mate has a old tatty tired out timberwolf 125 and it shoots further also! Need to get it sorted
  2. Do any other greenmech arborist owners find this happens also? We are finding we have to have the chipper along side the truck now to fire it to the back! No good if it's on a narrow driveway 😡
  3. Mines more like pea farter than rocket launcher!
  4. I have a greenmech arborist130, and with most materials it struggles to fire the chip to the back of a transit tipper . It's new so I can't imagine anything been worn out. I am aware it's not a large chipper but thought it would manage to fire a fair bit. Some ends up at the tow bar area, Is this normal?
  5. Amazing place Reg, nice one 😀
  6. Wet and miserable again in Carlisle 😒
  7. Another suggestion, I noticed you said about not being able to make up your mind between a pick up or van? Give Northgate vehicle hire a call, you could take out a long term hire on basically any category of truck you like for as long or short as you like. You could ask for a tipper, 4x4 or van for 3 months at a time to see if you think there is a better solution to what you run now. I got a quote for a double cab transit tipper and it was £550 plus vat per month. That includes maintenance, tax and tyres. All you need to do is insure and fuel it. No tie in contracts or penalties like a lease or contract hire company may give you if you need to walk away from it either. Once you decide which truck really works best for you could go and buy a 18month old or pre registered one? It may not be of any help to you but it's handy to know that option is available.
  8. Can't mind on exactly but the cambelt kit included a water pump and a tensioner so that was almost £200 the truck was on the ramp a day and they charge £40 plus vat p hour. It soon adds up. Recon gearbox which includes transfer box from from Ivor searle was 2500, the ford one was 2700. The flywheel was 700 clutch/pressure plate 200 again oils etc plus labour! Again it soon adds up!
  9. Thanks for this, I certainly feel that it would be typical that if I sold it the next guy would get trouble free motoring or near enough! Something I never took into account is maintenance/repairs against depreciation. Mine has done its depreciating by now. I think I'll ride the storm!
  10. Thanks for this its helped me see it a bit clearer.
  11. I think it's had a reasonable life, it's mileage seams correct, the 1st owner owned a double glazing firm so guessing it was a way of getting a vat reclaimable truck as I can't see why you would need a 4x4 and the second owner was a forester so probably long drives up and down forest tracks and shitty roads etc.
  12. Morning Early last year i bought a 2008 ford ranger double cab 96k on clock (full history, 2 owners). Being my first proper half decent truck i got its oils, filters, tyres and belts changed and got it undersealed etc, then i bought a N&J Aluminium linings chip box/canopy for the back and got it stickered up with my company logo etc. A few months later on a long drive down to france it jumped out of 5th gear by the time i got home i was holding it in with my knee. This continued on to the point where a new gearbox was required as there was too much damage and the labour in repairing it was going to be somewhere near a genuine ford recon box (which was the same price as a recon box from other firms too). So i got the box changed put a new clutch in, the flywheel was also buggered so that got changed also! So i though thats it i have spent good money on it it should be fine for a good while now.....Yesterday smell of diff oil when walking past it, i looked under to find oil pissing out the front diff drive shaft oil seals. On closer inspection i find the diff bearings are away also, so it requires a bit of a rebuild so it needs more money spent! So i just dont know what to do now, i have spent loads on it and feel like i cant turn back now but then i think what will happen next!! So i thought i'd ask those who may have been there and done it before me which i am sure some will have! Any advice cheers. Truck 5000 canopy 800 Oils, filters, belts 700 underseal 200 stickers, chevrons 350 gearbox, flywheel, clutch etc 4000 cheers
  13. Happy new year boys and girls 😊😊😊🌲🌳
  14. Bad head in the morning for someone!!! 😊😊😊
  15. ArbTalk has been a real handy tool for me and I comes with the brilliant advantage of making a few mates along the way, I delete the app off my phone from time to time so I don't waste time as much but it gets loaded back on the next day!! To all those who make arb talk what it is thanks very much and merry Christmas!!!! :-) :-)
  16. I heard of car thieves using cheap and simple to use key finder tracker apps to track where a car was kept overnight. They would see a car they fancy in the day then put a cheap key finder device on the axle then it would send its gps location to the thieves phone when he activated it. Surely it could be used for good also! Attach one to a chipper? Or I suppose get a purpose built tracker fitted to it. The only thing is its one thing finding it, its another thing getting it back! Preventing the loss in the first place is the best thing.
  17. Yer all the best to you mate, these shitty things you go through in life just make you come back bigger, better and stronger! So good luck with it all! :-)
  18. They have opened community centres and schools for people, the army are in now helping out.
  19. You are the call out king Mr Git 😊
  20. My pick up has chevrons, reg 65 beacons etc, but when are you supposed to use them, working on an A road, B road or all roads. Is it just if your working or is it if you pull into the verge for anything or causing a hazard? I see so many vehicles which look chapter 8 ready but are not using the beacons etc when I would have thought they should? Or is it just a common sense thing when you think you should be more visible?
