  1. You're either 10ft tall or intending on using stepladders to chop your wood then???
  2. I know it's not been too long but I pm'd more or less straight away but have heard nothing and I needed something soon so have now ordered a Zubat 330. Thanks again for the offer though.
  3. Nice one thanks and on the assumption it's not knackered I'll take you up on that.
  4. See what I mean, every damn Silky saw ever made will do what I want by the looks of it
  5. I've decided, stove is coming out and a 3 bar electric going in. Sorted!
  6. Thanks everyone.... Just when I thought it had swayed towards the Sugoi the thread has gone the way all the others have that I read.. Sugoi, Zubat, Natanoko.... I'm back to square one
  7. No reason at all although getting in the hedge bottoms etc with a chainsaw is far less appealing than just whipping out a hand saw. Also by and large it will be smaller stuff that will get hung up in a chainsaw whereas at least with a Silky I can hold the wood in one hand to steady it. I have a Husky saw already that I use for my normal firewood stuff and even though I'm no arborist expert I'm pretty sure it's not the tool I need here.
  8. Great, thanks everyone, looks like a 360 Sugoi could be the one then.
  9. Ah ok, yes looked at loads and like loads, just don't know which one is most appropriate for me to buy that's all. I just didn't want to buy, say a 300mm Zubat, and then find it's no good for going through 4" bits but will get rid of the 1/2" rubbish or vice versa..
  10. Thanks Ian although I'm not sure I follow what you're saying. Are you asking me if I have a choice or telling me?
  11. I know it's been done many times and I have read loads of threads but still not sure which one I need... We have loads of lanes around where I live and I just want one to gather bits of hedge fallen wood, left overs from trees that have been felled etc but I need to get rid of the "rubbish" and cut out the bits I want. None of it will be more than say 4" diameter but I'm unsure which Silky would be the best for the job. Oh and I have permission to collect it too. Any advice welcomed. Thanks....
  12. Can't help thinking you're not far off here knowing how protective long term residents can be of their villages...
  13. Definitely build your own. Go to a garden centre and have a look at what they sell, like the one above, find something you like and then take some pictures and do it yourself. The prices they charge is ridiculous once you realise they're just a basic frame with a bit of cladding and felt maybe.
  14. Tried it a couple of times with my Clearview and it doesn't like it. I just use the age old method of a bit of scrunched up paper or firelighter, few sticks and then some small logs and it's roaring away in less than a minute
  15. I can vouch for them being heavy and dangerous. Mine is mounted on the rear door and one time when I took it off I basically slid it off the studs and let it drop to the floor. However as I leaned over as I let it go it bounced back up and hit me under the jaw, a proper uppercut, not nice
  16. I live 8 miles from the nearest town with a police station, 2 miles from the nearest village and roughly a mile from my nearest neighbours. Whilst I admit I'm not sure I could pull a gun out under the circumstances we're talking about, I am sure that whatever action needed to be taken would probably need to come from me as (prompt) help is too far away in reality.
  17. Nor should you have a situation where constant harassment and lack of action drives someone to this level of desperation either.
  18. I totally understand what folk are trying to do here but you won't catch me leaving the oven on for 24 hours, that's a fact....
  19. Judith Chalmers
  20. A better game is well known people with the initials JC. Have a think for a minute and you'll see there are loads....

    Storage

Not trying to be funny but do you need anything more complex than a shelf?
  22. I got it too
  23. Same here. Not saying I'm right or wrong but I've left my motocross bike for at least 6 months and it fires up no different to if it had just had fresh fuel. Same with my saw and as it's only home use it does get left a while.
  24. Where I am the farmer wants as much rabbit, fox and pigeon gone as possible but his rules are don't touch the deer, hares or game birds
