  1. In eire you have 2 screen stickers 1) road tax 2) insurance I would add a third 3) mot You can then check at a glance that car is legal....... Simple and effective Can only assume they are moving to automated no plate recognition With fixed fines possibly automated from your credit card........ My mate is magistrate and he tells me number of cases on courts has crashed as bobbies are dishing out fixed penalties for pretty much everything including assault with a weapon Not good when one body is enforcement officer , judge and jury ... How soon before someone gets £50 for carrying a silkie/chainsaw in his car?
  2. Why not give them a reasonable trade price your happy with And wait till their supplier goes bust They'll contact you then just to keep supply going If they don'tcontact you nothing lost
  3. The bigger the fire the bigger the chance its arson ........
  4. I dug up pignuts some time ago Didn't thrill........
  5. Read up about this a few years ago You buy 'impregnated' hazel roots at £15 a pop They recommend you pant several acres away from other hazels Wait years to see if you have any truffles If they don't come its your loss Sounded like potential scam to me Bit like ostrich farming A truffle kerfuffle! Three years, £5,000 of planting and help from two top dogs, but Prince Philip's cash crop fails to bear fruit | Mail Online
  6. Had loads of trouble with people buying with cards then complaining , Card companies often gave them their money back BEFORE they told me PayPal did this once too They have learned how to " play the system " for profit Best one I have come across Garage in mid wales called out to holidaymaker with busted cam belt Gave him estimate for repair Sorry too expensive Next day called out for RAC recovery Pulled in car with busted cam belt and repaired ( i think guy paid for parts) Following week complaint from RAC received new member had complained about his service, cancelled his membership, and got his membership money back So total cost of repair = parts Worked for him
  7. Ifor williams had this problem Crooks had got hold of genuine chassis plates and it buggered police investigations You'll now find chassis number (genuine) welded on chassis before its galvanised

  9. Deceided not to discuss royals Nothing to be gained lots to lose, But please listen to whats going on .....with an open mind....don't be disappointed Thanks
  10. How are they self funding?
  11. Couldn't agree more about "those at the top" The country is being systematically screwed ......hard I'm starting to get really angry when I look at war memorials --- all those poor kids being sent abroad to die horribly for nothing...... I understand WW2 but WW1? Whole classroom of kids in our village..... I'd like someone to explain to me:- 1) how party politics helps democracy ? 2) why are we paying for Royal Family ? Is it a ' back up system' for when party politics has screwed democracy ? 3) why have we got second largest government in the world (china is bigger) I'll settle for that today .........
  12. I've got early oxdale Ok until you get knarly twisted then can be bit of struggle Bottom plate/table could usefully be bigger.....And if could be arsed would get some weld on it to make it a bit less slippy Splitter head could be better designed, would be better if point was bit farther out and blade extended a bit further back - sometimes smaller logs slip behind blade Ok for own use, probably not for commercial production
  13. Special VAT rate
  14. I've been self employed 25 years Number of people who have knocked on door and asked for a job = nil Offered girl a job but she couldn't get here before 10:00am so that didn't happen either Guy in village post office gets doalies in ...but only because they want their form signed He tells me alcoholic in free house opposite shop collects more dhs than he takes from the business ( and he is grafter) But when economy is in the **** who does gov't turn to - the small business I would support special at rate of say 30% for companies such as googe/amazon/starbucks who duck their uk tax though
  15. When I was insurance assessor Lots of old guys with aged tractors, but they had grown up with horses when you had do a bit of maintenance when they put them away, the result was their tractors lasted forever.... Also inspected a contractor who bought brand new toyota hiluxes .....and never ever opened the bonnet..... Not even for oil top ups......he ran them to 30,000 miles then partexed them ........pity the poor sods who bought them.... But it worked for him
  16. I think I saw some ex russian military stuff that did most of that after wall came down Muti fuel too - would run on anything that would pour Bet you'd hate it in reality
  17. All those 'posh' boys have spent £3k putting in a woodburner They will try chopping up a few wet logs with a cheap chainsaw and splitting axe and lose interest Then you'll get the sales ........at premium prices ........if you ask them
  18. I worked as insurance assessor for 15 years In manchester in 1980's a new copper was appointed to stolen car squad, he told me no car theft had been investigated for over ten years......eventually car crime got so out of hand that something had to be done ..... We worked with him to set up ' operation stripper' where we told stolen car squad about thefts immediately they happened because it took months for stuff to arrive on his desk through the system ....... One of tricks they had was to steal a car and strip it, they then abandoned the car at side of road, it was recovered to scrap yard and we were contacted, we inspected and wrote car off and sold it to scrap yard, scallies then bought car from yardand reassembled it, getting a car with log book and documentation for bugger all They had production line going .......some scallies made millions In one garage they raided they filled a skip! With just nuts and bolts found on floor from stolen and stripped cars ....... It was a serious business I got phone call one morning saying " your inspecting an XR3 today at such and such, we want to buy it." when I went to look at my journey yes I was, they knew before I did what I was seeing ....... Catch them and the gang boss would pay some lad with no criminal record to " take a tumble" for him, that means coppers would have guy banged to rights and kid with no record pops up and says " I did it and can't let my boss get blamed" result kid gets light sentence and boss is off scott free...... If you watched Romanzo Criminale on sky that was closest to what was going on...... Criminals are very good at potting where no investigation goes on and will exploit that market ruthlessly .......only solution is to get thefts investigated properly then they will nick something else .....
