  1. Who's doing the felling on the hill leading to the Waun? A fair amount of timber moved so far
  2. I'm pulling up a hedge too. The old one is some sort of conifer but has been attacked by some sort of blight. The new hedge needs to be about 4 - 5 foot high so far yew is top of the list. Any other suggestions?
  3. I've had FIL 2015 for over 10 years . Cost £180 hopefully worth a bit more now.
  4. A ragfork is what I use available at most agricultural merchants. Also be careful as the whole plant is poisonous so wear gloves. Each plant can have a few thousand seeds and they can lie dormant in the soil for up to 20 years waiting for a bit of disturbance.
  5. Has the pin been put in and then the metal guard been welded on to stop it coming out? It looks like the one side has a shoulder on it so it has to come out the side of the welded on plate.
  6. It's earthing somewhere. Either where you run it under the gateway or something is touching along the length of fence.
  7. If the land is attached to the dwelling your mate is buying he will be allowed a fair amount of buildings for storage etc. as long as you're not running a business you may not even need planning up to a certain area but check with your local planning officer. I've found if you do things properly they will help you.
  8. Saw coal merchant leave the weigh bridge today weighing 4.6 tonnes in a 3.5 transit!!
  9. That looks very similar to a fungi that's appeared on the site of a copper beech recently dropped near me. Is it growing from the dead roots?
  10. An arctic of coal will be around £5000 (+vat at 20%) into lorry with delivery on top. Resale to the public is at 5% so best to be vat registered.
  11. You can check the thermostat by putting it in a mug of boiling water to see if it opens (if you can find it).
  12. My transit tipper comes in at 2.200 without me so the payload is1.200 ish. I also have a cabstar at 1.820 empty but is a single rear wheel so gross weight is 3.400. Twin wheel knocks the gross up to 3.5 but the weight of the wheels probably cancels this out.Not sure of the train weights.
  13. No it's 4 to 5 foot circumference and in Carmarthenshire.
  14. My auntie has a dead copper beech in the garden with a nice straight trunk about 15' tall with a girth of 4' to 5'. Is it any good for carving ?
  15. Thanks I'd better keep my wife away from the chainsaw !!!
  16. I think it's Magnolia liliflora. Pink tinged tulip shaped flowers.
  17. I've got a lovely big Magnolia in my front garden but it's now touching the boundary hedge and too low for the mower to go under. When is the best time to cut it back and how much by? Thanks
  18. Certificate Of Professional Competence. Did mine at the start of the year. Thirty five hours in the classroom and a bill of £360. So you lose a weeks' work and pay another weeks' work to continue driving something you've been driving for the last 20 years!. There are 5 different modules but nothing to stop you doing the same module 5 times which makes a farce of the whole thing. The haulage industry are reckoning on at least 3,ooo drivers of a certain age not bothering and calling it a day in November.
  19. Afew photos I took in Aberglasney on Sunday.
