  2. The eyes r done with a old bolt I made for burning eyes in with a drill, you can see it on a thread ( eye burning bit ) cheers Ray:001_smile:

  5. This is my Arbdog Lass & Woody. Woody he used to live in a tree and was a real part of it. The only way I could get him down was with a chainsaw. Now he has shaped up nicely..

  8. I tried a arbortech on a 4 inch grinder I thought I liked it till it somehow cut a 3/8 's of bone off the end of my finger, I agree on the saw, every man to his own, be safe .Ray:confused1:

  10. The spruce I used was about a year old so bark come off easy, I dont't debark much now because you lose most of the bark when u block out , apart from the stump normally .Ray
  11. I use a blunt axe and a hammer, to brea axe down the back of the bark. Save damaging the trunk, the greener the tree the harder the work. hope this is of some help.

  13. This hare is approx. 3ft, carved in larch.
  14. This was made out of an old round head allen bolt, from an old swing seat. The head of the bolt is 16mm wide, and the drill bit was 13mm. Drill out the head of the allen bolt to the required depth. This could be done to a normal bolt but you would need to round of the outside first, then centre punch for the drill. This works on friction to burn the eye, I use a household drill. I've attached some pictures of the finish work. Regards Ray
  15. Nice job bet they lv it, I met tommy craggs last week for the first time which was an honour for me, as he is why I was started carving a year ago .carve , carve carve, rock on tommy.
  16. I drilled out an old rounded head allen key bolt from a old swing seat in the garden , I will post post pics at weekend. Ray

  19. I cover my carvings with various colours of decking oil depending on what finish I am after , coated every day until I get a waxy finish , then I will coat with danish oil thereafter. I use acrylic paint on skulls , badgers heads as I find it soaks into the wood nice . I'm not the the exspert but it work for me, cheers goodpig.
