  1. 13hp and forest really don't belong in the same sentence, I was hoping to see a gurt chainsaw. Bob
  2. I think you will find Andy has just finished his `z stalking course, I think you will find he got a diploma Bob
  3. A while ago I had a few of their cousins doing a site inspection.
  4. Top tip `z, buy a new satnav 8oD
  5. `z If these people are worth more than the minimum wage they will find it working elsewhere, if they don't have the nouse to go and get it they were probably not worth it in the first place. For the business its neither socialism or capitalism its economics.Without a profit it wouldn't be there long ,the supposed underpaid would then become the unemployed and a bigger burden to the state. From the governments perspective topping up/subsidising a workers wage is the lesser of two evils. No easy fix for manufacturers in the UK that have a workforce burdened with high living costs and cheap imports driving down the cost of produce. Bob
  6. Sounds like you are well underway then J. I have never really had a problem finding the rows once its edged out providing its planted properly.
  7. Fourth option J and by far the most popular around here. Mulch between the rows leaving all the stumps, replant immediately between the old rows straight through the mulch mat. Allow the regen to go for a few years which will keep the Deer off the new plants. Revisit and run the mulcher through the new rows knocking off any rotten stumps and regen when ready to beat up. Bob By the time you revisit the original mulch will have rotted down and the remaining stumps just explode.
  8. The gear that cant be straight lifted can normally be wrestled over the side. Bob
  9. Two wheel tractors with out front flail mowers are good for this sort of work, well balanced and turn on the spot. It will handle woody vegetation and long grass within reason. The roller comes off on rough work and we run it on the skids. Bob Edit: its a 1200 cut
  10. Feck the sawdust biscuit , nowt wrong with a KFC. Bob
  11. You need to be mindful that there are only two Ag registration categories open to us, one is Ag tractor which is used on some mogs and Ag machine. Restrictions apply to both, tractor is obvious but Ag machine is slightly different. When registering as Ag machine DVLA will now ask for photographic evidence to support the change, Ag machine is also limited to 40mph , not allowed on motorways and needs to be using 360 visible beacons when on a dual carriageway. Bob
  12. I made up a grab/tilt for a 3 tonner, it worked really well along side a cutter. I was grabbing/steadying trees at about four feet high and pulling them off a step cut. Stumps were nice and low and the trees had less advantage over the machine when laying them down. Made very good progress with it, will try and find a piccy of it. Bob
  13. Yes, bought one and sent it back but the second one is much better. None of them will ever replace a proper jack hammer, I just like the portability of petrol tools and the non reliance of batteries or a power supply. Bob
  14. Worth looking at the petrol breaker/drills, they use the sds max system. You obviously get what you pay for but handy bit of kit nonetheless. Bob
  15. Yes `z , two washing machines, fridge and a microwave Another nine foot deep hole for a gurt underground Calor tank .
  16. As nice as these Cabstar/Canter type trucks are they dont really lend themselves to the typical Arb body conversion. With a tool box plus kit behind the cab and three guys in the front they are overloaded on the front axle before you leave the yard. I weighed a Transit with the same and its just under, keep the load on the rear axle and its just about legal.I have just bought two Cabstars but they will be used as is without arb bodies, maybe just drop in greedy boards. Bob
  17. We have been using these Draper 1" Petrol Water Pump Footing Flood Pond Transfer with Fittings 87680 WWW.EBAY.CO.UK Petrol Water Pump (85L/Min) (refurbished). • Easy pull start. • Hose outlet size: 25mm. Expert Quality. • Self priming. • For... They will happily run six sprinklers each , have two on the back of our bedford watering unit. Bob
  18. What I was getting at was whether the tree stays or goes the ground remains unstable. There is no mention of roots getting at the properties footings merely the tree drawing moisture from the ground and shrinking the clay, root barrier is not going to fix that problem and if the tree is too contained it may die off. Without a lot more info it sounds to me like the house needs piling. Bob
  19. Not so sure root barrier will be the answer, its quick and easy enough to install if you want to go with it. If the willow is removed the shrinking clay will heave as the ground re hydrates so it may be months or possibly years before you can do any remedial work to the property. Bob
  20. I was wondering what sort of breakfasting `z could possibly be having in a shower Bob
  21. £70 a day or £250 a week sounds about right. The word “hire” throws in a few problems, I suppose a well worded contract that covers things like panel damage , chopped up tracks , cleaning charges, low fuel surcharges along with copies of the customers hired in plant insurance would be a start. Hirer is also going to need things like service records , users manuals , loler certs if it’s got forks on and have some kind of insurance in place if a machine failure caused injury to a third party. Bob
  22. That`s no different to my old Foden setup except its got a crane behind the cab instead of on the trailer. Plans for this years revamp include another tractor unit like that Scania or if its still there may go for that one and an 8x4 hookloader with a few 40yard bins, a tray and may even mash the Morbark wtc into a hook frame. Will keep that DAF crane lorry for backup, moving single bits of kit, and takedowns. Bob
  23. @roseyweb I think I may have found my ideal truck 440hp double drive Scania with a Diebolt
  24. I reckon you will get change out of 2.5k if you can find a local transiteer that values some of the log wood, Add a bit in for stumps ,with 6` of access a tracked stump grinder will eat those in a morning.. Bob
