  1. Thats more of an internet problem where research can dig up out of date info. Keeping the right side of plod is a moving target so although these threads seem to go around in circles there will be some useful and correct info in there somewhere towards the end . It just needs putting through a strainer Bob
  2. Ok not a TM but an O type that one of our guys has restored, its his hobby and he has built this up from a rusted out wreck. Bob
  3. Is the 1026 narrow enough to squeeze down the side of Mrs Miggins house and through a 2`6" gate ? We have a tiny new holland which is 42" wide and a B6200 kubota with front loader and back hoe , that thing is 48" wide and 13` long. Neither of these could compete with our track barrow for maneuverability in really tight spots even if they were narrow enough. Bob
  4. What do you mean? Bob
  5. The building trade are being scrutinised and it may well roll out into other service sectors. Licensed trades do exist in europe and they have been for a number of years, it was introduced to protect the consumer and contractor. http://www.pyetait.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/BIS-Building-Licensing-report-final-Mar14.pdf Bob
  6. Even this is not a legal requirement , its not even required by the HSE. Their take on it is they are happy for someone to use a saw commercially providing they have had formal instruction and training , this can be in house with your own version of a certificate provided. For private use there is no requirement for qualifications or training . The OP`s concerns about saws being purchased by Joe public and being used by cowboys are really only a concern for private customers , if they choose to go for the cheapest quote from a doasyoulikey they probably deserve all they get. The sale of saws to homeowners is perhaps an area of concern and a lot more could be done to ensure they are being safely used prior to walking out of a shop with one . Commercially there is enough legislation in place as is to ensure contractors used are qualified. Bob
  7. With tickets and conversant in forestry operations, primarily to operate a tractor with mulcher and on occasion a 360 with mulcher head. Having an HGV would be a bonus but not essential , must be prepared to stay away on occasions. Vehicle supplied. Apply to [email protected] Guildford Surrey area. Bob
  8. Children, drum brakes by design self servo and will always be a lot more effective going forward than back . The leading edge of a brake lining is pulled into the drum when the brake are applied. Bob
  9. Ok we will go for the correct one which is £9 dearer , thats still a whopping £251 less for the same thing this side of the pond . Gates 14MGT-2660-68 Belt - Biedler's Belts I am sure you could buy them even cheaper than that if you went over there. I think Gates are ripping us off over here. Bob
  10. Its daft that you can get on a cheap flight to the states , buy a belt or even two , stick it in your hand luggage, fly back, and still be quids in. 14M-2660-68 by GATES RUBBER CO - Buy or Repair at PLCCenter - PLCCenter.co.uk Bob
  11. Brilliant bits of kit Bob
  12. I dont think anything else would cope. The diameter of the pulley has to be small to not affect depth of cut , V belts on this diameter pulley would never get enough belt contact to grip. Best just by the lube and let the manufacturers have their way. They are cheaper from the states but import and vat taxes make it a pound to the dollar. Bob
  13. The polychain on our Rayco is £350. I tried to get one direct from Gates but Rayco have them cut to their own width. The stuff is made like a big tube and is parted off at whatever width someone wants, lots of machinery manufacturers make an oddball width pulley ( which is cheap to do ) and then have the belts trimmed off making them oddball to a standard fitment. Clever marketing:thumbdown: Bob
  14. Its really easy, on the last one I did all they needed to know or want if its an ag vehicle is below. If its newer kit they will need a cert of conformity. That said I did mine at one of the dvla offices and had plenty of help, they are all shut now . Best of luck on the phone to Swansea Purchase receipt. Make Model engine number serial number taxation class colour insurance proof of year or it will end up Q plated Bob
  15. My mate cut off the greedy boards. We put a 1 ton stillage on the back to see how much difference the HD springs made, we also wound up the torsion bars at the same time. It sits higher now with a ton on it than it did on the old springs empty. This is the kit http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221365278554?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Bob
  16. I need some help here I need to cut a couple of 12"x12"x 10` oak posts for a customer and he has asked if I can supply them with a point on the top. Are there any tricks to getting this accurate and getting the point in the middle with a hand saw? I need to achieve something like this. Thanks Bob http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=176131&stc=1&d=1423521192
  17. I have a winch a bit like that and it has a line for the brake. A bit like this one below. The brake circuit if it has one normally goes on a solenoid. PLANETARY WINCH DRIVE WITH HYDRAULIC BRAKE in 24 Parganas (s), West Bengal, India - PREMIUM ENERGY TRANSMISSION LIMITED
  18. Thats pretty much it really it really , as Gray and Hodge pointed out most domestic outfits like to offer a one stop shop with all the mess dealt with in one go. Commercial is a different story and stump grinding in this sector has a future.
  19. At least a wheelbarrow full less at the moment with the pound vs the euro the way it is. Now is probably the best you will get if you are looking for kit out of the eurozone. Bob
  20. My mate Guy the log has just bought this Navara tipper for his deliveries. The rear springs were a bit tired so he bought some HD ones with an extra leaf and new U bolts. We fitted them today ,to save all the shackles and other bolts we had to cut the springs up on the car with a gas axe. One extra leaf and much thicker helpers. Definitely worth spending a bit more and getting new shackles and bolts, too much time lost saving the old ones. bob

    Seppi

Picked up a new Seppi the other day, the old one has lost its newness after 6000 hours of major abuse.I will keep the old one going for the rough old site work. The new ones have a few more refinements with more guarding and this fancy gizmo that rotates the drive box on the pto to take out the torturous angle of the uj`s when its lifted high. Bob An arm comes off the back of the tractor to this drive box to keep the pto shaft at a better angle with it raised.
  22. You cant knock the Alaskan Kevin , if it wasn`t for Gary from FHC coming down here with one them half the timber we get would not fit on the mill. Bob
  23. Since we got the mill we have planked all the pine. I have cut piles of the stuff, between the landscape boys who seem to use tons of it and the girls with the horses that eat all the rails it all gets used. Bob All of this has gone
  24. Its a strange old set up on the Iveco, the engine only has a bellhousing and clutch on it. There is a prop on this that runs to a gearbox/transfer box combined unit that sits in the middle of the truck, all the axle props and the pto go to this one monster of a box. I will get a snap of it. Bob
  25. True to a point but you cant teach intelligence and business acumen, its either in you or its not. Many a school dropout has done well , Branson is one. There are also plenty of egg heads with brains the size of a planet that live in filthy squats. I know some wealthy property developers that can barely read and write that could buy most of us with their small change. Bob
