    Dolmar

I could if you wanted me to, but it wouldn't be true , and I never actually stated that - just that some models are heavy and clumcy for their size (cc). Like others, I don't believe there are any quality differenses between the Dolmars and the Makitas, as long as they are the same basic models. Exact features and options will of course vary between the brands and/or markets though.
  2. I agree on the MS361W, excellent saw - but if you didn't buy a 346xpg it would be an even bigger mistake!
  3. Yes, the 19+mm RWJ-4 372xt carb can help quite a few saw models - but isn't always a streight bolt-on. Of course the devider in there should be removed.
  4. Only when warrented, not by prinsiple! Anyway, that is irrelevant here, as the OP asked about a Husky counterpart.
  5. ...or HDA143A.
  6. HUH? Not true - but what does it have to do with this topic anyway????
  7. The 2055 replaced the 2051 as the pro saw in that "family", while the 2054 always was a lower performing "semi-pro" version. I don't know about any Husky saws that used the same carbs as the 2055 - so no help to the OP there - even though several Husky saws have used 15.08mm HDA carbs.
  8. Simple - there isn't one, despite they were made at the Husky factory in Sweden. IPL 2055
  9. Obviously!
  10. Btw, we are still waiting for the small mount Sugihara light bars being made availiable in 3/8" in the UK, alledgedly they are about to come - right Rob D?
  11. I see you arrived at pretty much the same conclusion as I did, about the current breed pf 42/43cc pro saws. The 550xp makes them more or less irrelevant, as they are at this point.
  12. You just need a small Husky mount (K095) 3/8" bar. My 560xpg is set up that way, with a 16" Husky branded ProLite bar and a 20" Tsumura Light bar. They are easily availiable, you just have to know what you need.

    Tecomec.

As far as I know, Tecomec is part of the Emak Group, that also owns the Efco and Oleo-mac chainsaw brands - but I don't think chainsaw engines are among their main products.
  14. Depends if the drum is an OEM Stihl (will be mini 7-spline) or an aftermarket Oregon (will be small 7-spline). This is a well known issue with the small stihl saws, as only Stihl sell the mini 7-spline rims.
  15. Stihl doesn't use the small 7-spline rims and drums - they have their own even smaller size instead, often referred to as mini 7-spline.
  16. The Husky part number for the small 7-spline .325 rim is 505 30 36-72. They sell them, but for some odd reason don't list them in the IPLs. The Oregon part number is 11891. Your 357xp rim will fit if it is a small 7-spline .325 one (357s has been sold with either small or standard (large) 7-spline drums).
  17. Sounds like Chinese funk, and likely is?
  18. No bottle needed, it is what it is - and what any saw "will pull" depends on a lot of factors..... I just met a member of the Junior Norwegian Stihl team, and he agreed that the MS460 is a wibe monster - but he still had to use it in competition. He showed a lot of interest in my 560xpg.......
  19. Please avoid the expression "can pull", as it isn't properly defined, and if it was, would depend on several more factors than just the powerhead and the bar length. As it is, it is a meaningless expression, and opinions will vary wildly.
  20. As long as you use a proper progressive raker guide, that sets the raker to the individual tooth - it doesn't matter much if a few teeth are shorter. The exception is if there are a lot of them on one side of the chain.
  21. Exactly! There are of course quite a bit of overlap in what they are useful for - but the 550xp is a much stronger saw when needed.
  22. Corrected a misprint, it is the 16" bars that I like, not the 15" ones.
  23. The 72dl 18" bars really are just over 17" though, not true 18" bars. I agree that they can be very useful though!
  24. No, it definately isn't - but for some odd reasons the saw brands are "indoctrinating" people into using very short bars in Europe - it is more about "culture" than about what the saws really are suited for!
  25. A 15" .325 with Oregon LPX no doubt is the most practical option here, on the stronger 50cc saws - but the differense between a 15" and a 16" in .325 is really small on Husky saws with the K095 mount, just two dl. Still it feels like it makes a differense in practical cutting..... The 13" bars just are silly on those saws!
