Well, of course it is better for the handling to have the bar and chain as close to the centre of gravity as possible - which means an outboard clutch/inboard sprocket.

There is, but they still are light and nimble saws. That scrap metal can of course be removed, but that's another story....
  3. From a practical angle - don't even think of .325x9 on a 50cc saw, unless it is just for fun!
  4. What you likely think will happen!

They are wide for their size even with the non easy start recoil, and the handling suffers from it. Inboard clutches are a bad idea, regarding the handling of saws.

...except the 560 and 550 family Husky/Jonsered saws!
  7. I totally agree about the lack of a chisel option in NK - it is a shame! .050 LPX will work even better than .050 RS, but you gain nothing by using the .050 version of those chain models. You need the NK stuff to get a narrower kerf.
  8. Well, it looks like they have changed the designation of the Micro-Lite Pro to Pro-lite 95vpx, just to confuse people.
  9. Looks like they may be changing the labelling/designations of the bars - so what I posted above may be outdated?
  10. I'm having problems with the edit function, sorry for the extra posts!
  11. For that chain, you need a Micro-lite Pro, not a Pro-lite. Pro-lite is a regular .325 bar, regardless of its gauge - meant for chain like 20LPX or 20BPX in .050/1.3mm. However, I see that there currently is some confusion on the Oregon selector - MPBK095 should be a Micro-lite Pro bar, not a Pro-lite.....

DCS-7901 is the Makita version of the PS-7900.
  15. An 8-pin is of course interesting to test in relatively small wood - but going from .058 to .050 (1.5mm to 1.3mm) makes no differense for the cutting, as long as the chain is the same basic model. Narrow kerf (NK) bar and chain is a different story. Running NK chain (like 95VPX) on a standard bar (like the Pro-Lite) will not work well in the long run - binding in the cut is bound to happen at some point.

It has been replaced by the 7910, that has less power and more weight (according to specs). There has been complaints about the stock AV springs being too soft on the 7900, but I believe stiffer ones are availiable as spare parts.

That would be pig rich if it was caused by the carb adjustment - but it really sounds like your coil either is limited way too low down, or otherwise defective.
  19. Sounds like you have a .325 chain on a 3/8" Picco sprocket. If so, the chain won't fit the nose sprocket of the bar either. Get the proper chain.
  20. Just in case someone doesn't know; the DCS-520 is the PS-111.

Basically the same as the troubled 5100S, but with a 13.5k coil, different crank - and I believe plastic handlebar. Different color as well. 5000, 5100S etc IPL attached. Dolmar 5100 ipl.pdf

Should be 13,5 on the DSC-5000.
  24. ... or monday morning! Anyway, **** can happen with any model of any brand.
  25. Is it an ordinary 81cc AV, without chain brake?
