  1. For 3/8"x8 (and .325x9) you will need the standard/large 7-spline drum (and corresponding oiler gear) - but 3/8"x7 is availiable for both spline sizes. The part number listed in most Husky IPLs is for the large spline drum. 18" Sugihara Light sounds good - but the last time I looked, the 3/8" ones weren't in stock with the suitable bar mount (yet).
  2. There is very little doubt about that (none really) - and the MS261 simply isn't what a 50cc saw should be - too large, heavy and clumcy. The 026 is much better in those regards, but it lacks in performance. The Dolmar 5000 series suffer from much of the same as the 261.
  3. Something like that!
  4. It mainly is a really nice and long casting reel, With an extremly positive operation. I mostly used it on the coast for 2-4oz lures. I have several others that will do close to the same (all ABU Ambassadeur) - just not quite. The closest one is a 6000C from 1973, and then there are 3 with magnetic casting brakes - all the same size (200m .40mm line). I am not a total "reel racist" though, and also have Shimano and Daiwa casting reels in different sizes - but you won't find any spinning reels here. My wife used the same reels, her favourite was the 6600FL (one of the magnetic brake ones). We may have strayed a little off topic now - but wth!
  5. Mostly beachcasting, yes - but not for herring! My favourite reel is the 6500 CS Rocket.
  6. Not exactly the same - but after using Aspen for (many) years, I bought a can of Stihl Motomix premix just to try it. It worked just fine in the engines - but I found that the fumes smelled really bad. I never used the single 5 litre jug up, it was that bad - for me. The real point is that my brother uses the same fuel, and has no issues with it. We have discussed it, but the conclution is obvious - people just are different!
  7. Not really - I have been fishing a lot earlier, but only for fun, with a reel and rod - and of course never for herring! I used to build my casting rods myself, with a few exceptions - but the boat rods were "store bought".
  8. The serial number is of course interesting - but anyway it will of course be a vibe monster, compared to a 390xp - and it also is a bit heavier. If both are properly ported, no 066/660 will have a chance vs. a 390xp in the cut, despite they are 4.6cc more - but stock it is of course different, as the 390xp is deliberately detuned.
  9. You may have a point - but I don't really think there are any hocus pocus with the oil, and the specs should be readily availiable?
  10. A neat way to get around this issue is to simply use Aspen premix!
  11. At least there was a flywheel change early 1996, at serial number X 33 917 065 - but I don't really know if it is the metal to polymer one. See Attached IPL. Stihl 066 IPL.pdf
  12. If I had to guess, I would say it happened early 1998, see attached TI: 066 TI 02_1998.pdf
  13. They are better ported - but I don't know exactly when the change happened. It wasn't nessessarily at the same time as the designation changed.
  14. What you really want is of course a 550xp, to avoid the extra bulk, weight etc of the MS261.
  15. Nitpicking, but there never was a MS066, it was just 066 before becoming MS660.
  16. Yes, it sound like an air leak - don't run the saw until you have found it and fixed it. If the saw is an early one, the first I would check is the bar bolts.
  17. They may well be repairable, but it if it is worth it is up to the condition of the internals, and what money/effort you want to put into it. A piece is missing from the case of the 162/266, and I don't know how sound the "repair" that has been done is.... I would start with checking the condition of the top ends and cranks.
  18. Yep!
  19. Those are on different platforms (the 154 being physically smaller), and there are other ways to tell them apart than measuring the bore.
  20. Actually 67cc but it could be a 162 (61.5cc) as well.
  21. I just found out that 544 02 85-01 is an e-Tech (=cat) muffler. You don't want that one, but rather the 83-01 one! 346xp IPL 2011 Google sometimes is a friend!
  22. Are you sure it isn't 544 02 83-01?
  23. Make sure that you don't get a cat version - those add heat and cut performance. IPL 346xp 2009
  24. The gauge doesn't matter, but the pitch does of course!
  25. Rims are, as long as the 360 has a standard (large) 7-spline drum (not all of them do). The question is not daft at all!
