  1. I get gummy eyes and runny nose when processing softwoods
  2. I reckon better to put your prices up lose a few customers and work less for the same money. I pay £30 to £55 a ton depending on availability when im looking.
  3. it's not entirely a local thing when I started I looked at prices others were asking and I put £25 on top rather than undercut and still got orders. if your doing quality people will buy regardless of price.
  4. £90 a cube is cheap £35 a cube cheaper than me and I'm thinking about putting prices up.
  5. tested some beech & birch last week which was felled last august and processed in Feb and it's measuring 16-18% already it's been stored under a tarp which actually stayed on through the winter & seems the mosquito mesh is doing it's job.
  6. Just back from the pallax demo all I can say is diabolical, 50 min walked around not a single member of staff even aproached us attempted a good morning to someone on the rabaud kindling machine that was greeted with a gormless stare but no reply and even worse in all the time I was there not a single machine was in operation. I was interested in the net Shute & the hydraulic cleaner/tumbler but will have to be from a different company I award them 0-10 for customer service.:cursing:
  7. I'd like a multitek, 50% of the timber coming in is 25" to 35" diameter and none of the other brands are doing machinery for this size that I can see but demand isn't high enough for that kind of outlay atm.
  8. east third auchterarder ph3 1nj is near their yard from what the flier said. I was going to go down to wilsons but got a call on some timber so went to have a look at that instead.
  9. just ordered a polytunnel today 30x90ft with height extensions to stack bags in. after last winters 5 months rain tarps are just not up to the job.
  10. any one go to the posch demo last week or going to the pallax one tomorrow. just curious what's new.
  11. I'd pick beech everyday ash burns too fast for me and I like a gnarly bit of oak to smoulder over night it doesn't need a couple of years to season if its split late spring as long as the logs are not too chunky its good to go in the autumn.
  12. 8 bulk out last thursday 2 on friday and 4 to go out on tuesday.
  13. I just posted 25% discount for next week on fb, I need bags shifting to erect a polytunnel and I would rather sell them at a discount than waste diesel shifting them around the yard.
  14. waiting on the last 16 bags of a 38 cube order to go out and just had an order for another 200 nets softwood.
  15. rub some chalk over it
  16. I was put off buying one because of the need to modify the pallets.
  17. Also been thinking of doing coal for a couple of years now and occasional customer asking for peat as well now.
  18. Retail £4.90 wholesale £3+vat
  19. Thanks could do with a redesign some day though.
  20. yes a few times which is why we started using normal bags with holes burned in them + the reduced labour ofc. but they did look good in the yard.
  21. I'm sure the other merchants around you will be delighted at someone else happy to break even rather than work for a profit maybe they should get into the grass cutting business.
  22. they make the sides a lot more stable also when you want to get 6' - 7' high
  23. just adding some more pics to flickr thought I would post these pre vented bag pics also pre processor was all done with posch 30t vertical splitter and pains me to think back how much time I used to waste in a day stacking logs.
  24. you see them in dobbies have a t light in the middle.
  25. yes the window was to check for ripple. good chance there's been squirrel damage quite a few of them where this tree came from.
