    Fire brigade were going to let it burn, I had to tell them that was unacceptable.

    batts were connected but couple of guys were seen heading up the road about 8-8.30pm who had no business going up there.

    will have to get someone out for a look and see if its repairable or breaking.

    theres a small loch up the road and a guy got locked in when he was poaching some trout, he got a mate to come with bolt cutters and snipped the padlock to get out but they used company vans and were seen. been trying to think of others but no joy and no insurance will need a damn good thinking cap to figure out a fix for this problem.

    Neighbour woke me up at midnight last night to go down to the yard and see this. been waiting a new hydraulic pump for 3 weeks and mechanic was due up with it this coming Tuesday.

    Finally got the felt finished on the roof today for my new log store hope it's big enough.

    I was told they only allow 65 or 70kg for a driver and an empty fuel tank my .73m bags at 15%mc come in at 280kg or there abouts so 373kg per 1m3 746kg for your 2 cube + a tank of fuel diesel weighs around 1.9lbs a litre and I guess 90-100kg for an average person these days. then there's any tools kicking about which soon eat up your allowance easiest way though is for a trip to the weighbridge and let us know just how much spare capacity you have. a driver 95kg fuel 20 gallons is 65.64kg logs 746kg 907kg so you should be fine like that but if your logs are coming in 20 25%mc or you have a passanger you could be screwed should they weigh you.

    I get 6 barrow bags or 2 90x90 builders bags on mine and and just load up the trailer now with 12 or 6, all these pickups with greedy boards would be getting pulled round here and checked coz we have no rapes robbery's or murders to keep the rozzers busy. Had to have the spare wheel removed and the carrier cut off to reduce weight and we can only run 3/4 of a tank of fuel or risk being overloaded, I would guess 2 cube loads is putting you on the edge if not into the overloaded region. time you take the crew and the tank of fuel off your payload capacity you don't get much. https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xaf1/t31.0-8/1795235_662910020433715_529365202_o.jpg

    just pay by credit card that way your insured.

    just hunt about for an old 090, I have 48" bar on mine have a spruce to cut at some point which is bigger than the bar. I am prone to sharpening one side more than the other and cutting curves. forwarders are handy to keep adjusting the log so you don't cut the dirt as well.

    I reckon better to put your prices up lose a few customers and work less for the same money. I pay £30 to £55 a ton depending on availability when im looking.

    it's not entirely a local thing when I started I looked at prices others were asking and I put £25 on top rather than undercut and still got orders. if your doing quality people will buy regardless of price.

    £90 a cube is cheap £35 a cube cheaper than me and I'm thinking about putting prices up.

    tested some beech & birch last week which was felled last august and processed in Feb and it's measuring 16-18% already it's been stored under a tarp which actually stayed on through the winter & seems the mosquito mesh is doing it's job.

    Just back from the pallax demo all I can say is diabolical, 50 min walked around not a single member of staff even aproached us attempted a good morning to someone on the rabaud kindling machine that was greeted with a gormless stare but no reply and even worse in all the time I was there not a single machine was in operation. I was interested in the net Shute & the hydraulic cleaner/tumbler but will have to be from a different company I award them 0-10 for customer service.:cursing:

    I'd like a multitek, 50% of the timber coming in is 25" to 35" diameter and none of the other brands are doing machinery for this size that I can see but demand isn't high enough for that kind of outlay atm.

    east third auchterarder ph3 1nj is near their yard from what the flier said. I was going to go down to wilsons but got a call on some timber so went to have a look at that instead.

    just ordered a polytunnel today 30x90ft with height extensions to stack bags in. after last winters 5 months rain tarps are just not up to the job.

    any one go to the posch demo last week or going to the pallax one tomorrow. just curious what's new.

    I'd pick beech everyday ash burns too fast for me and I like a gnarly bit of oak to smoulder over night it doesn't need a couple of years to season if its split late spring as long as the logs are not too chunky its good to go in the autumn.

    8 bulk out last thursday 2 on friday and 4 to go out on tuesday.
