  2. this may well be a silly question with obvious answer, but if im topping up tipper ram oil, do I need a certain type of hydraulic oil or will any old hydraulic oil do? thanks
  3. im down that way, but am free of woodchip, there are alot of people who do need tip sites and are usually more than welcome to tip for free, just ring up a few companies local to you and ask if they have any. prob best way to go
  4. some info from an ebay seller, says only a genuine stihl part exhaust, at £80 plus VAT will work/fit not sure how true that is as the seller is the one selling the genuien part anyone have a ms441 exhaust or saw for parts I could buy?

  7. bills dont wait for dry weather, so im going out and getting soaked most days, ha
  8. I have a nissan navara kingcab, not big enough for extra rear seats but more than enough for a days tools, saws/kit etc... go for that, double cabs have a shite gross payload/hardly and room on flatbed

  11. didnt realise so many people would get funny with this post, didnt mean to cause offense so lets just lose this topic, someone delete?
  12. just curious to see other guys yards/workspaces I currently rent out my parents garden and drive to keep costs down while starting up, dont have any pics yet though, nothing to shout about ha what do you have and what price sould I be looking to pay for some yard space, just after a ballpark
  13. had to get these trees done today, started raining at 10am and still going now im home at 7. Absolutely soaked, whats the best way to dry me chainsaw trousers? I was told tumble drying them ruins the layers of protection, true or myth? what do you guys do?
  14. ive got a kingcab navara, with tipper and chip box, filled it up the other day with leylandi chip, very heavy, and didnt have heavy duty springs, most likely overloaded, towing a 750kg tipper too, damn good trucks, but after a week of that sort of job i'd prefer a transit
  15. few small tree jobs this week, one was 40% reduction/level of two leylandi included was a 30% small beach and two oaks, the two oaks were self seeded behind and inbetween the leylandi second was a contorted willow removal and leylandi reduction/shape both were each done in a day on my own, might be time I employed someone haha
  16. Bought some new leaf springs for the navara, got them from milner offroad which was reccommeneded by a fair few people, had them fitted...truck sits lower than the old springs that had a snapped leaf! with half a load of chip on my kingcab the new springs bend backwards and truck hits bump stops. absolute crap. does anyone know where I can get decent (at least 2x3) heavy duty leaf springs? had a look around but its saturday and cant get reply's from any shops or ebay sellers I found tata in advance
  17. I'd be happy to do that for £250, although I only set up the business the other year so building a good strong customer base and getting my name out there means im willing to go cheaper than other guys I guess
  18. Ive tried flyers, yellow pages, a website and various magazines/newspapers. Flyers and word of mouth have got me about 85% of my work. seems that mainstream ways of advertising are a waste of time, I plan to withdraw from the website and newspapers at the end of the year
  19. forgot to say we do it every 4 years
  20. far from what i'd suggested but its what customer wanted and it paid the rent this month double stem male/female ash
  21. theres plenty of jobs out there, the local macdonalds have been advertising staff wanted for months now. its easier to be on benifits that work full time, especially the 'have a kid get a house' culture
  22. just picked this up from ashford, towed it home with my old super arb astravan, ha bought it as I had a quiet week in which I was going to do her up, but that soon changed once it stopped raining, that was about 3 months ago, not had time to get her on the water, dont think im going to either, so if anyone wants it? ha
  23. Got my arb truck sorted, lovely little nissan navara tipper, built a chip box on the back, its since been painted red, looking for a chipper now:biggrin: does anyone know what the navara can tow weight wise?
