  1. Hi all Had another go at it today. It'll run (a bit rough) on choke with half throttle, but if I take the choke off it dies. I took the fuel filter off altogether, and the fuel line appears to be crack free. Plug still damp, and if I take.it out and turn it over there's a fine spray of fuel from the hole. Also, if I.empty the fuel tank and pull it.over to clear.out the last drops of fuel, it starts.more easily and runs quicker and smoother. So.I assume the carb is the problem? Didn't check the tank breather, but there was no hiss when I took the cap off, so don't think it's that. I'd slightly rather fit a new carb than mess with a carb kit. But the only replacement carb I can find in the UK is 90 odd quid! At that price I'd just buy a florabest strimmer from lidl! That may be the best solution in the end anyway. Can anyone point me to an fs36 carb at a good price? Or the best place to buy a decent carb kit?.(I've seen a few on eBay, but don't know if they'd be any good) Thank.you.
  2. Take a screen grab? That'll show what's on the phone screen with time and date...
  3. +1, me too. It's not quiet (it screams a bit at full revs, plus the chain travelling is noisy) but it's quieter than my 2 stroke. My neighbours haven't complained, though they are a fairly tolerant bunch.
  4. They're not sprouting yet, but I think the buds are swelling a bit.
  5. Good growth for 3 years. Have you fertilised or mulched them or anything, or just left them to it? What varieties of willow and eucalyptus are they?
  6. Thanks for the suggestions, all. If the posts aren't already cut, would cutting the tops to an angle not make things worse? Or would the water run off benefit outweigh "breaking the seal" of the pressure treatment? Steve, the posts are 8" diameter. But I'm really after something I've already got that I can put on tomorrow if I get 10 spare minutes. I do have some roofix roof-waterproofer, if that will stick to creosoted wood...
  7. Posts have been pressure treated (I think) with creosote. Not entirely sure if the ends were cut or not! But I can see cracks in the end grain, which I imagine water must be sitting in. Won't this eventually work it's way down inside and rot the posts? Anything I can do to make them last longer would be good. I suppose a coating of bitumen and roofing felt would do it! And I already have both...
  8. Only 5 or 6. Thanks, but I'm after something cheap, easily available and waterproof rather than pretty. That would probably do it! But how to fix to the posts without letting water in?
  9. Hi all Had a fence put up recently, and want it to last. I'd like to top the gate posts and straining posts with something that will last, and stop water from getting into the end grain. (There's a crack opened in the top of one post already) Posts are 8" round creosoted, and I can't find any large round post caps! What's the best thing to cap them with? Lead? Wood but with the grain horizontal rather than vertical? Plastic? Ideally the cheaper and more easily available the better! Also, what's the best way to attach them? If lead I'd just fold it round I suppose, but wood / plastic would need a nail or two, then the nail hole would let water through and into the post... Don't think gripfix or similar would stick to creosoted wood, plus it's damp at the moment anyway. Any suggestions? Cheers.
  10. This is what I use: Proraso Shaving Cream Jar (150ml) :: Shaving Cream :: The Shaving Shack Feels nice, smells OK, doesn't cost much. Italian I think.
  11. I use a double edged safety razor too, with Feather blades. Very satisfying, a closer, better shave and much cheaper. More of a shaving experience! Does take a bit more time, but I'm bearded anyway, so don't shave too frequently.
  12. Thanks chaps, good point. And maybe medlars and nut trees in the future, maybe a crab apple or two for pollination... See how we go!
  13. Thanks all. Sounds like I'd be better off getting something fabricated properly, and I will keep my eyes open for a proper one, though they're few and far between. I'll drive carefully in the meantime! Will reserve the airbag ejector seat for emergencies, as I quite like my spine!
  14. Just to update this, the orchard order has now been made, from Adam's Apples. Had to reduce the number of trees to 12 in the end due to space. Also couldn't order the pear species I wanted as they were out of stock. So this is what I've gone for in the end: 1. Ashmeads Kernel - Apple Tree 2 year old MM106 2. Lord Lambourne - Apple Tree MM106 3. Fortune - Dessert Apple Tree 2 year old MM106 4. Winston - Apple Tree 2 year old MM106 5. James Grieve - Cooking Apple Tree 2yr MM106 6. Victoria Plum - 2 year old 7. Stella Cherry - 2 year old Colt 8. Brunswick -Fig Tree 9. Blueberry garden varieties 3 years old Earliblue 10. Conference Pear - 2 year old - Pear Tree Will probably add to these in future with luck, but it's a start at least. Thanks for the help.
  15. Thanks chaps. The tractor isn't very heavy, only 700 KG odd - maybe half the weight of a MF35. Would scaffolding pole not be up to that? I suppose once the tube integrity is gone, it would fold. Maybe I should go to a fabricator and get something heftier, but I also don't want to put too much weight on the tractor... Hmm.
  16. Hi all I've got a little Yanmar compact tractor, and as it's a grey import, it has no ROPS. Also, I can't seem to get one to fit it, at least not without paying hundreds of pounds. Not the end of the world, but I do have some steep bits of land and would rather not have the tractor rolling over on me! Can I just bolt a scaffolding pole or two to the back of the tractor? Maybe with a cross bar to stop it sinking into the ground if it does roll? Or is there a bit more to it than that? Cheers.
  17. I do a few tons a year for my own use. I use a saw horse - if small rounds then fill it up and chop to length; if big logs then one or two at a time followed by a session with the X27. Having said that, my system doesn't seem very efficient (possibly because I also move logs from store to store), so will watch this thread.
  18. It would have been pre 2013. It def has a higher driving position than my Legacy, but I found it bouncy and twitchy, perhaps as a result. (But then I am used to low sporty cars with hard suspension). Power was good!
  19. I test drove a Forester XT a couple of years ago. It was fun! Quick, but quite twitchy and it had a bit of body roll in corners. I bought a Legacy Spec B in the end instead.
  20. I nearly got knackered on Grindr...?
  21. Eco friendly fracking rig?
  22. Nicely sea sculpted, that.
  23. Brave man. 320mph odd?
  24. Small by your standards I imagine, but just right for me!
