  1. Just seen a pic of one. Yeah you got the right part number. Unfortunatly ive only got the short version.
  2. Have a measure and let us know how long it needs to be.
  3. This is the same sort of thing tho Stihl - 0000 664 2405 may do it with a mild mod Collar Stud M8 (Quick Tensioner) Stihl - 0000 664 2405 | Stihl MS260/026 Chainsaw Spares
  4. Is that definite? I bought a few from them a few months ago as they are great for using on stripped 8mm bar studded saws when ppl overtighten them and pull the thread out the saw. Just retap to 10mm and jobs a good-en. Wont promise but I may have one.
  5. I just had some oversize dogs come today from America and the full wrap should be here in the next day or so. Won a second hand one on ebay.com :-)
  6. The stihl fuel line works well and is about £3.50. They also list it suitable for impulse line on some older stihls.
  7. Bloody main road being resurfaced was causing some nice delays and detours this afternoon so just aswell you saw Barry this morning lol
  8. Prob go for £100 or so on ebay as it is. Chances are it will just be a new piston and rings and the cylinder will clean up and about an hour if you know what your doing. Finding out what caused it is sometimes more of a battle.
  9. Keep telling you Jon when your ready ive got a new 395xp here still in the box and I will bring a ported 394/395 along to but you need some of your big butts . Remember the 395 gains nearly 1hp just by the muffler mod due to epa restrictions Oh and heres a video for you to watch 390 v 661
  10. Courtesy of WYK or should I say stolen from lol. So 385/390 is 16.7ib (7.5 kg) with oil/fuel But as no ones brave enough to ever put a stihl on the scales my moneys still on the Husqvarna being lighter..
  11. Yeah walbro wj39. Will need to fit a tail for the impulse which isn't hard due to using the 395 cylinder/intake manifold.
  12. Oh gawd please don't get me started on what ive got Im building a 394/395 hybred at the mo using the heavier (more torque) crank and fly off a 394 but using a new quad ported new meteor cylinder which im waiting to turn up from the USA. Will get ported etc before it goes on the saw. 394 non epa carb etc. Cant wait to put it up against a 660 when its done .......
  13. 36" .404 chain on this one. I actually prefer .404 over about 32" .It is ported and the muffler opened up so doesn't struggle to pull the full bar in oak/beech.
  14. 660 v 390 pretty close match to be fair. Stick a 395 v 660 in anything over 25" the 395 will take the lead. Once ported the 395 becomes a clearer winner against a ported 660.
  15. I think its more a case of storing data rather than remapping. Theres small room for adjustments in there but most of it just shows data and what the saw has actually done workwise, hours its been ran, air/fuel ratios its been using, fault codes etc. Its not so much remapping like vehicle ecu's as people are lead to think.
  16. Did you get her up and running? For some reason people do seem to be in a habit of installing the gaskets/diapragms in the wrong order on 394's, so if you struggle it may pay to go back in to double check they are installed correctly. Great saws, ive got a couple and on a full entire rebuild on a 3rd which im taking pics all the way thru etc so will do a thread at some stage in the near future.
  17. Personally I think it looks a bit ugly and would rather go down the smart water or similar route if I felt the need.
  18. Check to make sure the crankcases are the same tho. Most are different and don't have the oiling facilitys to oil the bar. Certainly saw/stone cutters such as the husky 3120 and stihl 075/076/510 the crankcases are different between the saw-stone saws
  19. TK Carb Kit: Yard, Garden & Outdoor Living | eBay
  20. You could struggle with that one. They where known as TK carbs (normally a slide carb not a butterfly?). That's prob 20+ years old now?
  21. Good call. An L screw adjusted to rich that can cause pooling of fuel in the crankcase and when tipped on its side causes similar issues.
  22. That was it chop shop. Was the white Volvo estate. Don't think there was a series as such spud but several double episodes etc Another was country house rescue or whatever it was but in the end he told them to f*ck off. Another program called "The F*cking fulfords" because every other word he uses is a swear word. Yet to be fair hes down to earth, fair and one of the nicest blokes you will ever meet yet quite happy to pinch my backy and make a rolly.....
  23. Sounds almost like a dodgy crank seal but seems strange if the saws is only 4 months old. So its the x-torq model? Certainly sounds like an airleak unless its something down the lines of the filter/fuel line in the fuel tank isn't quite in the right place and sucking air in with the fuel. Make sure when its on its side that the filter is fully submerged in fuel. It could be carb related but again 4 months old its unlikely.
  24. I would say give it a go with a nova or similar. Ive used them to replace 2 wire trigger systems ad they've always worked on stihls. You wont know until you try it and doubt anyone will be able to give you a straight forward yes/no answer. If its the trigger unit it should work, if its the coil it probably wont.
  25. Today ive been looking back over the many years ive been involved with my "local lord" so to speak (5000 acres) . Now ive known him for some 30 years being involved with the shoot and minor upkeep and being lucky enough to have free rein on most of the wind etc fallen trees despite it being forested. Ive been chuckling away to myself remembering things that have happened over the years where hes involved. Earliest memories where as a young teanager, Hugh Heffner's playboy team doing photoshoots there whilst on a shoot day.. Top bosses from the t.v "discovery" channel came in for some shoot days which opened up several t.v programs about him including" how clean is your house" with Kim and Aggie and a "shoot vehicle" being made in that program involving the indian guy and the Londoner which basically bodged cars together. Im sure someone will remember the name... In the programs fully admitting in one to losing his virginity to a prostitute and another throwing the kids tv in the lake because they watched it to much. Over the years ive been sent to look in the woods to look for his Purdey simply because hes propped it up against a tree whilst gas bagging to other guns and not remembered until at the next shoot wood his guns abscent! Opened a country store and was given a £250 shooting stick only to mislay it on the first shoot day and not miss it until weeks later which involved walking back over all the shoot woods for that particular day trying to find it. Managed to drive 400 motorway miles in 4 wheel drive only to have the gearbox blow up on the estate drive 1/2 mile from home and when queried said "well it was smelling a bit hot all the way there and back" I reckon I pick up 10 pruning hand saws a year he loses around the various woods each year when hes on his ivy missions hacking it off every tree he finds with some on. Im sure I pick up exactly the same ones in the same places the following year and hand back to him once again! Was once asked to be his chaffuer as he likes a tipple or 10 (in his younger years had a driving ban for it) and take him to an upper class ball. So him and the wife jump in the land cruiser and first thing I hear is his wife arguing with him about how his dinner suit has a moth eaten hole in the collar to which the reply "ive had this f*cking suit for 20 years and it will last me another 20.. now shut up woman!" of which just escalated over the 50 mile journey to the point i sunk in the seat, kept looking forward and kept quiet.. Anyway I could go on and on but you would all fall asleep So who else has similar storys as im sure im not the only one.
