  1. Do u tidy the butt up, ie cut the sloping angle off/square it up rather than leave it sticking so pround. Yes as the "V" you would have left will hold water, not a good looker, you dont to be the one to land on it if you stumble etc etc. But still cut the heel at an angle, not flat, try to match/follow the angle the cut pleacher is at after laying. I have seen many a job just sq of the heel. Try to angle it sure theres some good pic's online than trying to explain. borrowed this 1 from www thanks amull.co.uk should be able to see it all here
  2. Sorry no close up but in second picture you can see the size/lenght of the heel, just to the left of the next "tree" If you get a split lenght ways after laying, still try to clean it up

  10. Good stuff Chris, is/was it a 1 dayer? bit damp down ere 1st thing today but clearing. More I look back on this Laurel hedge it was a great 1 to do, with such a difference in end result
  11. A little out of season picture, Owners of the Laurel hedge I did back in December have just sent me there "phone" picture. Ive got just a mere 70inch span , you can just about make out both sides of the hedge, it was blocking the edge of the road sign you can just see and also see what it was going down to (about 4x3 foot), coming towards the font of the picture between the 2 oaks.
  12. not getting caught out like last yr waiting for dry days to go grass cutting so as not to make a mess and chew it up, so set out this morning thinking it will look a mess but customers WANT/ASKING for it cutting, soaked by miday, felt bitter with wind blowing, mind you was better than forcast had warmer days in the "winter". If this is spring/summer look out winter.

Ive a 655 you can have for £100 collected, 2 comercial used seasons old,(but be lucky to have done a yr at most) Had all the mod's need to keep the bloody blades conected to the rest of the mower + some WHEN its working very good cut. Can see why its green rather than orange and dont have Stihl down the side of it Went back to my 7yr old Hayter ranger 3in1
  21. Get some white lines down the middle and some double yellow down the sides, couple of sets of lights at the tunnels
  22. Well for a hedger this was a good read, as Im in almost the same situation. theres no TPO and was told I will JUST need to fill out a form, to inform council (Dorset) of what I/we wish to do. of which I have in front of me this was from West Dorset District Council 2 weeks ago Just to add to the application & notification debate the title being Application for tree works.. Works to trees subject to a tree preservation order(tpo) and/or notification of proposed work to trees in a conservation area. [/color]Town & planning act 1990 the owners want the work doing just not yet, later in the summer, so not submitting it just yet in case thing change
  23. you havent got time for that ..... can we camp at this thing @weekend???????? getting ear ache from the boss wanting to know. But also dont realy want to be doing 4 trips give us bell after 6 on home number:001_smile:
  24. Well sorry been a little while since Ive been here, come the lighter evenings (wont say spring/summer as thats not here yet) tend to scratch about doing other things. Well grass cutting, this last week Ive seen a bit of a spurt, but also just seen Countryfile weather forecast. Possible - temps at night and frost, did I see/hear that correctly ??? But it has to be cut or it will be like last year. Put it of put it of due to being so wet, next thing on that 1 dry afternoon you then have a jungle to cut. All what I said about stopping hedging end of March had a call to request some more about 2 weeks ago, went and had a look , not even a bud on it so down it went. The hedges round here have started to get some small leaf, but we still got more leaves left from last on the trees, than new ones for this year.
