Height , length, width, what is it , old wire fencing in it , burnt out cortina or 2, walk to it, drive to it, on the level, on a bank, using crook,s from hedge or got to go n cut em ?????.... but looking around depending on styles seems to be £5.75-6-7pm going up n up n up burning again how much will there be ??? 1 hours work or 3 day dragging n burning sorry maybe not much of an answer for you
  6. Had mine for about 5 yr, comes out when very cold fire and tea both for warming. Even the KK web site has some good pic's and stuff on there
  7. Hi since just before xmas things have just dried up, dont seem to be the grants about for hedging anymore, and Dorset CC dont seem as keen as some. So just a couple of 1-2 days of work here n there, booked in So looking for a bit of PT, as n when, help out etc Self employed £2 mill PL insurance Contract Hedgelayer NHLS accreditation , Done ground work in past L/R Driver with trailer Lantra ticket (x cut , fell small trees) etc (also felled big trees in the past in open areas:biggrin: ) own jobs Own ppe Own fuels Driven tractors/dumpers/mini diggers in past for own jobs no tickets Been using strimmers, hedge cutters, chippers (timer wolf type) for yearssssss no tickets, again for own jobs X Army countryside range warden doing alsorts of country maintenance Contract grass cutter summer months Weed kill ticket 2 spaniels, 1 terrier Area. Dorset and sourrounding, away if need be. Before xmas was in France hedgelaying If anything please PM with phone number Thanks
  8. just checked ticket again mine states it was 4 day, cant remeber doing 4 but did cover assessment /test....
  9. hi thanks for quick reply ticket states ------------------------------------------------------------- Has successfully completed training and assessment in Chainsaws- Maintenance- Cross-cutting, felling small trees ---------------------------------------------- I gues other way is to do work as a subbie then its just like me doing any another job providing "employer" is happy
  10. evening all, 13 yr ago did chain saw ticket Looked into local courses there was NPTC at local collage or Lantra with private training company @ about £100 cheaper. At the time was told 100% the only difference between the Lantra course I did and the NPTC, (both covered the same things) was that the Forestry Com (FC)did not accept the Lantra 1. So all ok just dont ask FC for job. A few trees felled (not climbed) later and milesssssssssss of hedges laid later, if I go looking for a bit of ground work. Is the ticket sat in front of me worth the paper its written on ??? Lantra Certifcate of Basic Training Chainsaws- Maintenance- Cross-cutting, felling small trees
  11. 1st Hedgelaying job about 13 year ago land owner gave very FIRM orders that any holly WILL NOT be cut as it was bad luck... after looking into it on interweb, ye old tales say, your not ment to cut Holly till christmas eve, thats why the country in a S"£T state maybe

Ref video theres a part 2 covering the ploughing and prize giving.....Last 3 years wanted to get over to IoW for that 1, after doing some home work I see the OLD IoW style was very much like ours, but over the years they have taken on the South of England style, have been told I could come over and do a demo section,
  14. All hazel hedge on Dorset/Devon bank, @Melplash Show 011. We always have a training day just before the Melplash ploughing and hedging show.   15. If Ive managed to do this correctly there should be a before and after of a Laurel hedge just done in North France and a beech here in Dorset....

Well just about dried out, after the Dorset Young Farmers Hedgelaying comp today, drove through the rivers/roads past the landslips and arrived in lovely sunshine on a nice hard standing next to the boggy field we had to get through & across Had a good turn out and all stuck with it dispite the way the weather turned out. Come the end it was hammering it down, didnt even get any pic's raining that bad. Good contest, Good food, Good friends, and a 2nd place:thumbup:, very surprised with the section I had so went away happy and soaked
